Dining Solo in OC

If you want great food in a super casual setting try la sirena grill across from the Montage. One of the best spots for casual dining alone. Out door tables face a shopping center parking lot but nice atmosphere inside as well. Fun to people watch as it is always busy.

That stuff in the green can?

Honestly, I've bought the trader joes green kind when they were out of the freshly grated variety, there is nothing wrong with it, we ate it, although I just never usually buy it. I would most surely have the green can than nothing at all!

Food storage -- Help settle a disagreement!

I called a restaurant one time to ask this exact question. I think the rule of thumb from what I remember is from start to finish a dish should not be left out more than three hours. This includes, prep, cooking and cooling time.

Now we all know that in many cases this can be extended although this is a safe rule of thumb to go by if you want to use health department safety standards.

Trader Joe's does have excellent grated parmesean blends.

When I have the time I buy a piece of parmesean and grate it myself using my cuisinart, it only takes seconds..it is amazing how inexpensive grated cheese is when you dyi!

Boneless, skinless chicken thighs

oven baked/fried chicken always comes out great with boneless skinless chicken thighs, put them on a sheet pan becasue even though they are skinless a little fat will ooze and you dont want the bottom to get too soggy

any asian inspired stir fry dish in a wok or pan comes out great -stir fry the cut cubes and then add sauce after they are cooked, adds a great mouth feel texture

Looking for Laguna Casual Lunch & Dinner Spots

another thought, I have always wanted to try the tommy bahama restaurant in the center of town, it is upstairs and is high enough where it overlooks the main beach ( I think ) and they may even have a good happy hour?

Looking for Laguna Casual Lunch & Dinner Spots

La Sirena Grill across from the Montage on PCH has the best organic and fresh mexican food with a california twist. We go there whenever we stay in Laguna. The location is super casual but the food is amazingly flavorful.

Our favorites are the
blackened salmon tacos and burritos (add pinto or black beans), bean and cheese burritios-love the pinto beans, any salad-they are fresh and amazing, they have a new miso salmon taco with a mango or papaya relish that is amazing, and any carne asada tacos, oh and the nachos are delicious, the list goes on.

Whatever you do have a couple of beers or homemade mix- margaritas made with agave sweetner

Dont forget the yummy cookies from the laguna cookie company the butterscotch and coconut cookies are the best!
