Nemo - Keyport Sushi-Pan-Asian Cuisine
Still loving Nemo. Our new favorite dishes are Thai Curry Casserole and Singapore noodles with chicken. My old favorites, Lemongrass Shrimp, Wok Glazed Ginger Beef and Chicken with Thai Basil are still winners too and consistently good.
Asian Food Market coming soon in Marlboro
I agree RGR, when I approached the rear of the Asian Market looking forward to seeing the fish department, I was appalled by the extremely fishy odor. Fresh fish should not have a fishy odor and I literally gagged. Quickly passing the fish department, I was even more turned off by the look of the meat counter. My feeling is that the buy at Asian Market is the produce, if they keep the prices down and specialty Asian groceries if you need them. I bought a large bunch of Shanghai Bok Choy and a bag of peanuts in the shell. Total...$3.52, then I headed to Wegmans.
Blue Water Seafood - Red Bank
My daughter just had dinner there and enjoyed it very much. The menu is basically the same as the Blue Water in East Brunswick, but the prices are higher in Red Bank. You are paying for the Red Bank location and the venue in RB is much nicer ambiance than East Brunswick. The food is good in both places. I ate in the RB location over the summer and the Ahi Tuna was excellent and quite plentiful.
Trinity Keyport
Thinking of going. Anyone been lately? Have not seen any recent posts. Do they get a dinner crowd on a Saturday night or mainly a bar crowd? How is the food since the departure of Chef D'Ennery?

Help Looking for Good Food in Manalapan / Marlboro Area
Good food in Marlboro/Manalapan is somewhat of an oxymoron! Sorry.
Huddy's --- Colts Neck
Kind of a run down Friday's. Definitely needs a face lift badly. Was there a few months ago and the food wasn't bad but I haven't been back. What r your coworkers like?
Is it me, or is Fairway in Paramus taking a turn for the worse?
I wish they would open a Fairway here in the Marlboro/Manalapan area. Wegman's prices keep going through the roof and I find that their produce has not been up to par lately at all. I love Fairway and have been to the Paramus store when visiting friends. It is wonderful...and yes, they carry alot of items that can't be found elsewhere.
Seagrass Restaurant- Anyone?
You all know that Seagrass was and still is a favorite of mine. We also eat lunch there alot in the summer (I love their Sea Scallop Salad). We sit outside and then stroll the boardwalk!

Thanks for the feedback fershore! I will put it on my "skip it" list!
Original Oyster- Highlands
Any reviews??? I hear that it reopened in May and is owned by the same owners as The Inlet.
Little Saigon Marlboro
The food was good, but I also found the service way too slow and inattentive. I went on a weeknight when it wasn't really too busy and still had a hard time getting the wine opened and getting water glasses refilled. I can't imagine the service when the place is packed.....shoot me now!
Peking Pavillion, Manalapan
Friends of ours raved about it, but it was just OK to me. I felt it was quite overpriced and that you are paying for the "scene" and their fancy lavatory....not what I look for when it comes to finding good food and not my kind of people.
Seagrass remains a good value
I am pretty sure your Amanda Peet lookalike is Michelle and she is an absolute gem. We love her. All of the wait staff there is wonderful. What keeps us coming back again and again is not only the excellent cuisine and value, but Seagrass has become like going to a old friends home for dinner. The reception is always so warm and inviting. Repeat customers are remembered, even by name....as the staff there is at the top of their game. Charming, delicious favorite of ours too.

Nemo - Keyport Sushi-Pan-Asian Cuisine
Thanks my fellow foodies. Tried Nemo, loved it and went back again with another couple. We ate the recommended favorites. Duck roll- excellent- a must try! Steamed dumplings were fine, but the ball of pork slides right out of the dumpling. Tasty however and a decent size. Loved the shrimp dishes. Had the Wok Grilled Garlic Shrimp and the Grilled Lemongrass Shrimp. Both truly excellent. Six very nice sized shrimp and flavors galore. We also had the Wok Glazed Ginger Beef and the Sliced Flank Steak with Thai Basil. The beef is thinly cut and ever so tender. We loved both and it would be hard to pick of the two to order again. People at the next table who are residents of Keyport and go to Nemo often like the Crispy Red Snapper very much and we would probably try that on our next visit. We also had the Pineapple Fried Rice. Very interesting dish, in fact a meal in itself, since the rice has chicken, edamame, pineapple, shrimp and cashews in it. Glad we tried it but there are just too many other dishes to try, so on the second visit we stuck with just the brown rice that comes with the dishes. The only dish that seemed a bit lackluster and dry was the Sambal chicken that our friend ordered. I was staring at a plate of chicken and string beans at the table next to our that looked delish and it seems that there is much to explore on Nemo's menu. We are not sushi people, so I will leave that area to another foodie, although I did see alot of sushi on the tables as I looked around.

Mike and Nellies- Owner Mike just doesn't care about his customers! Don't go here.
I think that it's wrong for patrons to have to check to make sure that "Mike is cooking that particular night" or not. Mike should have a qualified chef on duty when he is off. It is a poor reflection on him to be conducting business this way. The patrons who come there when Mike is off have to suffer and pay good money for sub par cooking. Let me tell you, the sub DOES NOT know how to cook a steak and for a "steakhouse" this is not the way to do business.
Mike and Nellies- Owner Mike just doesn't care about his customers! Don't go here.
We had a similar experience a couple of years ago and have never been back. We unfortunately also went on a night when Mike was not there. We had been there previous times and the steaks were good, but we quickly learned that whoever cooks when Mike is not there (I think I remember that the waiter told us that it was Mike's cousin that fills in) does NOT know how to cook steak. We ordered ours medium and it came out virtually raw inside. After sending it back a few times, the steak was pretty much ruined. We were livid and also asked for the owner to call us....he never did and we never set foot in the place again. At those prices, Mike had better start catering to unsatisfied customers or he will be out of business. We have since discovered Brennan's in Neptune and have had nothing but good steaks there at much more reasonable prices.
Bert's Kosher Style Deli in Marlboro
Agreed, if it is Kosher Style it should be open on Saturday. I went in once and there was not a single customer and the food in the case looked as though there was no turnover. I left. The location is a tough one for any business! My spouse and I were taking bets on how long it would be before they were out and they lasted longer than we thought. It is much harder to be in the food/restaurant business than people understand and if they have no previous experience, it can be the kiss of death!

Seagrass Restaurant- Anyone?
Just an update report since I haven't posted since earlier in the year. Still love Seagrass. We went a couple of times over the summer, but it is hard because Ocean Grove is so busy with The Great Auditorium concerts and Seagrass doesn't take Sat nite reservations in the summer. The Fall and Winter are great for us because my spouse hates to wait at restaurants with no reservations. The $25 fixed price complete appetizer, entree and dessert meals are back again for the Fall/Winter, but only on Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sunday. No more Sat night $25 specials because Saturday nights are packed with patrons. I guess word has quickly spread and Seagrass seems to have developed a steady group of regulars. We were there recently on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. I had the most wonderful Swordfish special with a tomato basil topping and so many wonderful infused flavors. It was over a vegetable risotto. I savored every bite. I also tried the chicken tortilla soup of which I sopped up every ounce. They were out of the roasted eggplant soup which according to our favorite and very attentive waitress Michelle is also a winner. To be fair, all of the wait staff there is really on the ball. Anyone else been back recently? I just love restaurants that keep up the same consistent quality.

They just completed an entire renovation and I think a few weeks ago completed the rest rooms which was the end of all the renovations. Its a shame!
State College, PA Recommendations?
We ate at Kelly's on Parents Visiting weekend. We didn't know what to expect and were most plesantly surprised with some of the best steaks ever. Maybe you hit an off night, but our meat was so wonderful from beginning to end and I am EXTREMELY fussy about my steak. We started with the fired calamari and although a little light on size it was nonetheless delicious. We followed with a pear and goat cheese salad which had the most fabulous dressing on it....couldnt quite figure all the ingredients. we asked the chef to share it with us, but I understand about chef's secret recipes. He did say however that it was a ginger lime dressing.....great. My daughter and shared a Rib Steak and a grilled shrimp dish and my husband had a Strip steak. All the steaks were tender and perfectly cooked and worth every penny. I dont mind paying the price as long as the quality is there...and it was. the shrimp were a bit salty, but I would go there for the steaks again in a heartbeat. I know where we are eating next year......its a no brainer after eating all the totally mediocre food in town.
