The new Calgary Farmers' Market at Blackfoot Centre will open tomorrow

So its OK to serve tacos but not wings? I'd say the chicken wings are more local than the hot sauce.

Mexican food in Calgary

While packing our bags at Costco, Jose, over heard me and my hubby toss around the idea of mexican for lunch...he said " you have to go to the best place in Calgary, over on Anderson and Elbow." We never made it and I've done a quick search on the net to find out what this place is called and exactly where its located...nada...anyone have an idea what-where-how- this place is? When i asked how it compared to Tu Terra he said..."oh bettttttter...."

Peanut Oil in Bulk?

Try any of the outdoor stores, like Wholesale Sports, Bass maybe even Army and Navy.....Im guessing your looking to deef fry your turkey. Most places that sell the fryers sell the oil. Oh, and Now that I think of it, I think I have seen it at the regular Super store, not just the Wholesale club.

Margaritas in Calgary?

I just bought the ready to drink "Kirkland Golden Margarita" from Costco and it was really tastey chilled and on the rocks. Made with gold tequila, triplesec and cane sugar, blended with lime and orange flavours. But Ive been busy with babies for a couple years...so anything might have tasted good! teehee...
I know hubby said his margarita at Mi Tu Terra was good as well.

Looking for kid friendly restaurants in YYC, help!

We've always had good luck at
Bumpies
Pulcinellas
Tommys burger bar,
any Asian lunch buffet.
Im also thinking Holy Smokes might be a cool place to go too, although we havent been yet.
And we have taken our 2 under two to Open Range for dinner...during the dinner rush....and the staff was G-R-E-A-T!

YYC Holy Smoke Bbq

"They serve everything on a cafeteria tray covered with butcher's paper and it's just perfect."
FYI: That is how BBQ is served ....white bread, sliced cheese with pickles on the side, sliced brisket or choice of meat served on butcher paper over a tray... sides in individual bowls as you move down the "cafeteria style" line.
Welcome to the Q!

southeast Calgary recommendations?

One more exit south of 130th is a community called Mckenzie Towne, within the community on High Street there are a few choices.
"Brewsters Pub", they brew their own beer and have the best roof top patio outside of DT! A definate must if its a nice evening out. The food good, standard pub fair.
"San Remos" is an Italian Resto/Lounge, its pricey tho...it gets some good reviwes on the board.
"Sea" is a fish and chips dinner, but it just changed hands and I have read on the board not as good as it was in the past.
"Hidden Chef" is a tiny place that does a lot of take and heat dinners, but it has a few tables where you can get home sytle cooked meals.
And lastly, the Kilt and Cabre...very typical "irish pub"... bla...is about what somesup that place up.
130th has a Keg, Montanas, Kelseys, Origional Joes, Muldoons, Joeys fish and chips, Chi Lan Viet among several fast food joints and the places listed above.

Crawfish in the YYC?

SB thank you so much...I have been on a search for crawfish for a few years and could never pin down a supplier that could commit at a decent price. I also looked into flying them up live from Houston....$$$$!!! Although this will never replace dollar buckets at Sams Boat in H-Town it might be a close second....YIPPEE!!

The Little Cupcake Shop-YYC

Another cupcake shop has opened in Calgary, way in the DEEP SOUTH...McKenzie Towne to be exact. I haven't been yet but its located in the newer part of the retail mall that includes Brewsters, Pet Planet etc. I would think as long as the product is yummy it should do well in its location..a tad bit closer than running to Willow Park, CFM or DT for all those school treats! Hope to make it there sometime this week for a taste.
