Need couple of recs for drinks and apps on E Carson St (Pittsburgh)

Go to The Truth for drinks, then cross the street to Yo Rita's for a few apps and split one order of tacos. Then proceed to Dish for more drinks and food. The scallops at Dish are a must!

sugar free cheesecake

12 slices? LOL!! Great if that it works for you; however do you think that it works for most people? Before you answer, look at the obsesity stats in this country.

Thanks Chefdjames for the recipe. My mom will love it!

Looking for a great Caterer in Pittsburg? I found one!

Café Raymond – I am fan of his café in the Strip District. I was excited to learn from a friend that she hired him to cater her cocktail party at her home for about 30 people. Ray was our chef and he had a few assistance/servers. Food was prepared beautifully and served professionally.
You can't beat the quality of the food, the professionalism of the staff and you can't find a better catering coordinator than Ray for the price! If I ever do parties for catering, Ray will be my first choice every single time. It was that amazing. This is like coming in with no idea what kind of catering to expect and being completely blown away by the actual service presented.
I'm sold.

Recommendations for lively Saturday night dinner

Beauty and Essex for a lively time and decent food. Great for girls night out.

5 Day NYC Trip - Fine Tuning Itinerary - Suggestions please!

I agree with Uhockey. He steared me away from Mille Feuille. I had the almond croissant at Ansel's. So good, I had two! The french couple beside me chuckled however they ended up ordering two as well.....the almond croissants are THAT good. I also sampled the cheesecake. Good but not great.

Girls weekend - which reservation(s) to keep?

Go to B&E after WD 50. The vibe is great.

Review my dining itinerary, please?

Recent visit to NYC – sat at the bar at Le Bernardin for lunch. Very good. Sam the bartender was very kind and he can make a mean cocktail. You can order from the lounge menu or the dining menu. I had the scallop ceviche and the “Egg”. Also munched on fab bars snacks and the bread options with excellent butter.
The same day I went to Per Se for champagne and an app prior to dinner. The lounge is very comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas. You have options of sitting at the high tables by the bar or the couches. We ordered the pasta dish which was incredible. I promise you will love every minute. I also received a tour of the kitchen. Amazing! It was like watching an art show or play. I could have stayed in the kitchen the entire evening.

Upcoming Trip...advice on place and specific dishes

We plan on eating apps at EMP or PerSe. We want to have an evening at a few places vs. one long evening at PerSe or EMP.
Thanks for your rec of Public. Is Monday Room inside of Public?
I am thinking PerSe then to Apotheke for drinks. Still not sure about dinner, which will be late. I love Minetta Tavern however I am forcing myself to try something new.

Thanks Kathryn...I was waiting for your response. I have been to Mille Feuille. Loved each thing I sampled. I am smitten with Payard's twice baked choc. and almond croissant. I used to love Bouchon's, however Payard's is my new fav.
I will try Dominque's new spot on Friday. Have you been?
I know you are a fan of Tertulia. What should I order? Stay away's?

Upcoming Trip...advice on place and specific dishes

In town for two days. My plan is as follows:

Lunch - Le Bernadin at bar. Please advise on must have dishes/drinks?

Drinks prior to dinner - Per Se or EMP? I have been to Per Se Salon and I loved every minute. I torn between going back to PerSe or trying the bar at EMP. Which would you pick and what would you order?

Dinner - Tertulia, Catch, or Saxon and Parole/Public, Monday Room. Looking for decent food with great atmosphere.

Drinks after dinner - Raines Law Room, Pegu Club, PDT? Looking for sleek, dark intimate setting with great cocktail and wine list.

Location and price points are not an issue. Would like the after dinner drink spot to be close to dinner spot.

Thanks so much in advance!

Friday - I will hit Vanessa's Dumpling, Payard's Bakery, Torrisi (Parm), and Dutch.

Need A Couple of Restaurant Recommendations for Pittsburgh Area

I agree with Salt being in the top spot however I was at Soba last weekend and was very suprised at how much I enjoyed the food. I would rate it above Dinette, not Salt or Spoon.

Need A Couple of Restaurant Recommendations for Pittsburgh Area

You can call Ray and tell him chowhound sent you to him. He always has pancakes on the weekends. Perhaps you can tell talk him into making them on Thursday. He also will make porkbelly Bahn Mi's from time to time...not on the menu, you have to ask for it.

Go to Cafe Raymond's on Sat morning for breakfast. Great for your daughter. His pastries are fab...the scones are the best. CoAngelo's Bakery is great for sweets. For your cheese and olive bar, visit Penn Mac. I sure you will spend a bit of time looking through many options.
A word of caution...Meat and Potatoes was mentioned above...avoid at all cost. The recent review was decent due to the fact that the critic was spotted. She notes this at the bottom of her review. The food and service is horrible.

Opinion Regarding My Food Plan

If you go to the strip on Saturday, you must try Cafe Raymond's (best breakfast in Pittsburgh) for brunch or Penn Fish for lunch. Seek out Lucy's Bahn Mi sanwich, located in front of FireHouse. Skip Vietnam Pho.

Any tips before I forge ahead with the recipe?
