Ethiopian Recommendations - Danforth
My wife and I went to Dukem recently and had a fantastic meal. The service was great and the food was very tasty. We used to eat at Ethiopia House on Irwin St., but we would vote Dukem our favourite hands down.

Best Jerk Chicken SANDWICH in Toronto
I've tried the Jerk Chicken sandwich at Ackee Tree at Spadina & Queen. But I didn't find nearly as tasty (or as well assembled) as the one at the bakery at Parkwoods Plaza.
FYI: That plaza is going to be torn down in the near future (I don't know the exact time line). It is going to be redeveloped into condos with attached townhouses. As far as I know, the only things that will remain are the grocery store and the Shoppers Drug Mart. So...eat more sandwiches!
Where to buy good quality Sauerkraut?
Starky's has excellen barrel cured products, including sauerkraut.

Looking for Shwarma around Coxwell and Danforth
While I am fond of Folia Grill (and believe me, I am very fond of it). Sometimes I crave the flavour oomph of a shwarma. And Mrs. Vache really enjoys a falafel now and again. I know I saw some places on Pape around Folia Grill that advertised shwarma. Anyone been?

Looking for Shwarma around Coxwell and Danforth
Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations around a shwarma/falafel joint around Coxwell and Danforth. I would be willing to go as far as Pape and Danforth. If anyone can recommend a place that is close to Coxwell and Cosburn, that would be perfect!
Woodbine/Danforth - decent restaurants?
Pineapple Legend has closed and re-opened as Little Coxwell Restaurant. Looks like the same menu and owners. I prefer the Thai place across the street (I believe it is called Thai Fusion). They have a better menu selection. Little Coxwell seems more like a Vietnamese place with a couple of Thai dishes. I hope they actually dump the Thai dishes and go completely Vietnamese.

ISO Key Limes?
I always see them at my local Metro in Liberty Village. They are sold in a green mesh bag.
Apple Fritter Search!
The wife I enjoyed the Apple Fritters we got at the St. Jacobs market. They are made fresh to order!
Chili Cheese Dog
Other than the usual suspects (Dairy Queen, Licks), where can I get a really good chili cheese dog. Extra points if I can get it either in the west end of downtown (Bathurst & King) or at the edge of Scarborough (Vic Park & Ellesmere).
Restaurant and bar near 401 and Bathurst or a little west of that even?
I would suggest Steve's (http://www.stevesrestaurant.ca/). It's on Bathurst, just North of Wilson on the West side. Nothing fancy, just dependable diner food and I'm pretty sure they are licensed.
Tiramisu
I used to enjoy the Tiramisu at Lokshen Alfredo. But since they have closed, I haven't quite found one that satisfies. I had the Tiramisu at Filippo's Gourmet Pizza, and it was pretty good, but the creaminess of the mascarpone was off. So here's the question: Where do you think has the best and most consistent Tiramisu in Toronto. My only criteria is that the restaurant be in Toronto proper (I'm there are some really great places in Woodbridge, but I'm really not interested in traveling that far) and if there are and rec's in the downtown area (especially in the West end), I'd be really interested in those.

Fondue in Toronto?
The Beer Bistro has a rather good cheese fondue (I don't remember what beer is mixed into the fondue). If you ask your server, they'll even throw in some crisp Granny Smith apples.

Yogurt Substitute
I am looking for something that I can use as a plain yogurt substitute (non-dairy) when I make Chicken Tikka at home (I keep somewhat kosher). It doesn't have to be kosher, but it can't contain any skim milk proteins.
Gin Gimlet
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the best place to order a Gin Gimlet. I live in the King & Strachan area, so somewhere close would be nice.
coconut covered marshmallows
If you are referring to the marshmallow covered in toasted coconut, you can get them in most candy stores (I know for a fact that the Sugar Mountain at Yonge & Eglington has them).
Great T.O. delivery King/Strachan
I would have to second Bamboo Buddha. Mrs. U and I order from there whenever we need a North American Chinese food fix.
Toronto-Best Chinese Soup Dumplings
I second Chinese Traditional Bun. The owner is very nice and the menu is fairly extensive. The wife and I usually split our dumpling cravings between CTB and the Dumpling House (328 Spadina Ave, West side). I think that CTB has a greater variety of dumpling types, whereas DH has a greater variety of dumpling fillings. If you do end up going to DH, make sure to order the Shredded Pork & Veg in Spicy Garlic sauce (menu item #53; I know it seems pretty sad when I know the menu item off by heart, but it is really good!).
Great T.O. delivery King/Strachan
I've been living in the area for about 2 years now and here's where I usually go:
Sushi - Sushi 930 (930 King St W). sushi930.com. They don't do delivery, but they are about a 5 min. walk East from King & Strachan. Very fresh sushi and a phenomenal chef.
Asian Noodle - Sweet Lulu (859 Queen St W). sweetlulu.com. They do delivery (by bike only, so it a small delivery area; They do deliver to the King & Strachan area). Build your own asian noodle dish. Made fresh when you order.
Pizza - Terroni (720 Queen St W). terroni.ca. I'm not sure if they do delivery, but the pizza's are pretty good (obviously open to interpretation).
Pasta - One of a Kind Pasta (746 Queen St W) oneofakindpasta.com. They do deliver and they have a very extensive pasta & grill menu to select from.
Uhm, I can't really think of any others that are in the immediate vicinity. My wife and I have really fallen for the Brazen Head Pub (165 East Liberty St - brazenhead.ca). The food is pretty good and they have a respectable draft selection.
Steak around Yonge & Eglinton
I have a group a guys for a stag and we are looking for a steak house in the vicinity of Yonge & Eglinton. I know there are some really good places downtown (Harbour 60, Hy's, Ruth, Morton, etc.), but we won't be able to get down there. Any suggestions?
Best Corned Beef Sandwich In Toronto
I enjoy the meat from Pancers...but the place hasn't been the same since they moved. It doesn't have that certain deli smell. While you're there, make sure to get a kishka covered in gravy. It may be a little dry, but they have prerry darn good gravy.
Duff's Inferior Fries
Right on! I've been ranting about this for months to Mrs. U and she is getting tired of the rant. I can forgive fast food joints (McDonalds, et al) for using frozen everything. Their entire business model is built on speed and frozen everything fits for them. But if I am going to sit down at a restaurant, I don't think it is too much trouble to expect them to cut some potatoes and toss them in a deep fryer. If that is too much trouble, than I'm sure McDonalds has a spare uniform waiting for them.
Wimpy's Burger - Any good?
I have to agree with you eggoman. I am sick and tired of frozen fries and burgers. Contrary to popular opinion, if you've eaten enough frozen fries and then have fresh, you can definitely tell the difference right away. With the plethora of kitchen tools out there, you'd figure it'd be pretty easy to have a prep chef pre-cut some potatoes during the day to make fresh fries. It's not rocket science. I would even go so far as to say that restaurants that can't be bothered to make their own fries should advertise proudly on their menu, "We make your food fresh out of the freezer!".
cantine?
Myself and Mrs. U ate during Summerlicious last year and loved it. I took a look at their regular menu and while it leaned toward the slightly more expensive end, the quality of the food and service seemed to match the prices.
Fried Pickle Chips
Most likely frozen (provided by Sysco). But I do have an update to my running pickle rant: Mrs. Ubervache called the Cloak & Dagger (pub on College just East of Bathurst) and they do indeed prepare their own fried pickle chips! They were actually quite surprised when Mrs. Ubervache told them that other bars in T.O. were serving fried pickles (albeit frozen). I will report back once I have tried them.
Worst in Toronto
After my weekend adventure, I'd have to add any independent bar that gets over 75% of it's food from Sysco. There is no sane reason why everything has to be frozen and then deep-fried.
