Burgers Priest to open West End Location Sure, except that none of those places is even remotely close to being as good as BP. I bet if BP opened up around Kipling station, the burger places in the area could expect a sharp drop in sales. :) |

Burgers Priest to open West End Location Yeah, I got excited for nothing. I was hoping they'd put one near Kipling subway station. I'd also be okay with one near Fairview Mall (although not related to the "west" story). As far as what counts as west? You shouldn't be allowed to say something is "west side" unless you're at least at Parkdale or Downsview Airport. |

Yeah, but I like all of those. That means if we split those 4 into sauced or not, I'm going to have to check 8 separate threads for all my wing needs. :) |

Franki burger recommended- Vic Park Where is this place relative to KC McFly's or Renegades? I tried to find it using Google maps street view, but no luck. Thanks! |

Never expect the day I will recommend Dim Sum at, 'of all places' - Chili Secrets!! What were the prices for each? Is it the same regardless of size or is there a different price for S/M/L? Are the prices higher for weekends? |

All I want is a pint of beer and some really good chicken wings in South Scarborough.... What's the best AYCE wing option in the Scarborough/Pickering/Ajax/Oshawa area now? Also, what's the non-AYCE best wing deal in those areas? |

All I want is a pint of beer and some really good chicken wings in South Scarborough.... I used to go to Shagwell's for AYCE wings after both Wing Shacks closed down and the Lion and Dragon stopped doing AYCE. However, I heard that Shagwell's is now charging over $20 for AYCE wings. Is this true?! |

Are there any places that are close to a buck a shuck that do steamed oysters (or cooked in some way)? |
I'd actually rather go to Happy Panda. I tried Sham out and it was nothing special, but it cost like $15+ for lunch. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing really tasted good either. |

I went to Brandt today. They had the 2 sausages + sauerkraut + potatoes for ~$4+tax. They also had the 2 sausages + sauerkraut + potato salad for ~$4.50+tax. I got one and my friend got the other. The sausages were good, the potatoes and potato salad were good, but I didn't like the sauerkraut. Next time, I'll ask to substitute for rice. They also offered Schnitzel, hamburger, and some other items that I can't recall now for about $6-$7+tax. I'm definitely going to go back next week and try something else there. Thanks for the suggestion! |
I forgot that they only opened Wed-Sat and tried to go today (Tue). I'll have to go back later this week and try it out. What are the must try items there? |
I was really anxious to try this place today, but alas, they are closed on Mondays. I guess most people just don't eat out on Mondays in Etobicoke. |

Except that Wild Wings doesn't do AYCE. (If I'm wrong, please let me know, I'd love to have AYCE at Wild Wing.) |
Cooper's Pub at 780 Burnhamthorpe has good wings. They're 39 cents half the days the week (need to buy 1 drink every 20 wings). I haven't tried Wacky wing yet (near Dixie and Dundas), but I've heard good things so far. |
According to The Gryphon's website, they have a 25 cent wing night. I have a hard time believing that pricing. Anybody know what their current specials are? Magwyers has a Tuesday wing nigh on their websitet: 59 cent/wing. How are the wings at the Portly Piper in Ajax? They have 49 cents per wing on Tuesdays on their website. ----- |
The Lion and Dragon has an updated website and according to it, they no longer have AYCE wings. :( |

I was just there tonight and Paul was very polite to me. The food was still excellent. I certainly would have no problem going back. |

Well, the thread is worst in Toronto as opposed to worst per dollar in Toronto. =) That said, I think McDonald's is better than Burger King. As far as the worst burger place? I think for me, it's probably Harvey's. Worst non-chain burger? For me, it's probably Johnny's. |

BEST PLACE FOR CHICKEN OR LAMB BIRYANI IN OR AROUND TORONTO? Is the Babu at Major Mac at all related to the one on Sheppard, east of McCowan? Or just the same name? |

News for Shawarma fans that frequent Lawerence/Warden area They're bigger, but not as tasty in my opinion. They're not bad, but given the choice, I'd go to SE first, Nasib's second, and Ibrahim's third if I'm in the area. ----- |

News for Shawarma fans that frequent Lawerence/Warden area I see that now. I didn't immediately think of that because everyone else in the thread is posting pre-tax prices. It makes it hard to compare places by price if some people use pre-tax and others are using post-tax. Maybe in the future, specify which you're using if it's different from everyone else? Thanks! |

News for Shawarma fans that frequent Lawerence/Warden area "Still $6.77"?! They were $5.99 for 2 shawarma for years. I believe I even went this year and it was $5.99 then too! I guess they had to raise their price eventually, but to say that it is still $6.77 sounds odd to me, considering it can't have been that long that it's been that price. All the same, S.E. is my favorite shawarma place in the GTA, and their 78 cent price increase is negligible to me, so I'll still be going there if I wind up in that area. =) |
Where can i find the best chicken shawarma? I was mainly posting because the previous guy said the two places charged the same price, which isn't the case. How full you get is pretty subjective... especially since my stomach doesn't share the same assessment as yours does. =) I would be curious as to how much each shawarma weighs on a scale. Just on visual inspection, I would guess that an Ibrahim shawarma is probably ~15% more product than a Shawarma Empire shawarma. |
Where can i find the best chicken shawarma? The last time I went to Ibrahim, they charged me ~$7 for 2 shawarma sandwiches. The last time I went Shawarma Empire, they charged me ~$6 for 2 shawarma sandwiches. So you do get smaller sandwiches at SE, but it's ~$1 less, so I think it evens out in that regard. ----- |

I went to their website, but it says it was last updated November 20, 2008, which was about 1 year and 2 months ago. I may just have to call them and find out. |

Someone told me that the Lion and Dragon doesn't have AYCE anymore. Please tell me it isn't so! Does anyone know? Unrelated question: how do you add a new restaurant to the list of restaurants in the "manage your links" list? I wanted to add Family Shawarma in another thread, but it's not on the list. Somewhat related: Lion and Dragon's address is wrong in the list. How do we get that fixed? ----- |

Wow, I've never been to any of the places you just listed (the warming bin places). All the places that I go to are between Sheppard to Lawrence, Victoria Park to Warden and they all shave the meat off in front of you. |

I just tried out Family Shawarma. I know I said that I'd try out Tasty Shawarma again when I got the chance, but with a place across the street that's selling 2 for $5.49, I just couldn't justify passing on it! =) I'll try Tasty Shawarma again in the future at some point. Anyways, at Family Shawarma, I got the veal shawarma, and the chicken shawarma. I didn't really enjoy the cabbage-slaw, but overall, it had the same approximate flavor that Nasib's did. I think the Family Shawarma shawarma was slightly less hot than the Nasib one (not that either one is all that high on the Scoville scale). All in all, out of the places that are in a 10-20 kilometre radius from my neighborhood that I've tried, I think I like Shawarma Empire the most, followed by Nasib's, then Ibrahim's, then Family Shawarma, then the rest are a distant 5th. The taste distances between Nasib's, Ibrahim's, and Family Shawarma to me are very small. ----- Shawarma Empire Ibrahim Tasty Shawarma |

Wow, that's harsh. People do make mistakes, and I apologize for not being right about this. I've definitely been there, but it was at least 3-4 months ago (maybe even 6+). I'll go again to give them a fair shake, but they definitely did not have that deal in the evenings when I went last time. And without a doubt, I did not enjoy it as much as the places I've listed, but if they've improved, I'll come back and post that too... not that you care what I think. =) |
I don't really agree with that opinion. It's around $6 for 1 shawarma there, and I feel it's not as tasty as Shawarma Empire, Nasib's, nor Ibrahim. Each of those 3 places charge roughly $7 (or $6 for SE) for 2 shawarmas. I guess if you can literally average out the taste of all shawarma places in the GTA, then it's possible that Tasty Shawarma is better than that average. However, unless your transportation options are limited, I'd rather head down to the Pharmacy and Lawrence area for shawarma. |
