Need Good Food on a Monday. Help.

Thanks all for your help... I ended up at Laloux, which was great. I enjoyed a fine late-March snowstorm from a very pleasant seat and can only complain that the Berber-spiced potatoes that accompanied the duck were a little too Berber-spicy & overwhelmed the otherwise fine Cote-de-Rhone Villages I was drinking.

Need Good Food on a Monday. Help.

I eat at Izakaya's quite often when I'm in Vancouver on business. Do you know how these would compare?

Thanks.

Need Good Food on a Monday. Help.

I'll be alone and I'm hoping to have a nice dinner. Budget isn't really an issue nor is location (to a degree... I'm staying at the Meridian Versailles on Sherbrooke). I have looked into Joe Beef, PDC, Kitchenette, Kitchen Galerie and Au 5ieme Peche, but they're all closed on Monday's (zt alors...).

thanks!

Oaxacan ingredients in Toronto

No luck at all & I've looked... The best place I've found so far is Perola's in Kensington market, but you will be hard pressed to find any specifically Oaxacan ingredient there.

Danforth Pizza House - what to order?

Angelo D'Auria. That's his name. Used to rent the apartment above the DPH. Hellishly hot in the summer. Ate a lot of his pizza. Liked it ok. There are better pizzas in the city, but not on the Danforth.

APdC summer menu?

I talked to them a couple of weeks ago and they told me mid-May.

Chowhound from NYC to Lisbon!!

For wine, you could do a lot worse than a tinto from the Alentejan Adega Cooperative Borba. The Reserva is pretty consistently good & shouldn't set you back more than 10 Euro from El Corte Ingles (I often saw it on sale there for 7) or any good place that sells wine. Oddly, I've only been disappointed by most of the more expensive wines I've drunk both in Portugal & in N. America despite all the praise of regions like the Dao... You won't be disappointed drinking on a budget.

As for food on a budget, I liked the Cevejaria de la Trinidade, as popular as it is. It's very "Lisbon." Good fare in an ancient tile-decorated beer hall. There was one nice out-of-the way place in Cascais that I can't remember the name of for the life of me (so is consequently of no use to you), but it's really easy to take the train there & the village can have a nice atmosphere in the evening when the crowds are gone. Likewise Cacilhas. A ferry ride across the Targus, full of (relatively) indistunguishable seafood reastaurants, but a place that has a good reputation among Lisboans.

Cheers.

Planning a Bachelor Party

If there aren't many of you (8-10), you could try Yer Ma's kitchen, which is the private dining room at the back of the Dora Keogh pub on the Danforth. It costs about $25 per person for the food & the atmosphere is great. And you could certainly do worse for a batchelor party than a place that serves heaping plates of crackling...

Dinner w. a Toddler near Boston Common

I'm going to be in Boston for a couple of days with an 18 month-old (staying near Boston Common). I've read the thread on lunch in that area, but wondered: do the same recommendations apply to dinner?

Thanks!
