Thanksgiving in ROME

I was just there last night, without a reservation, and ate outside under the fungi (heaters). I suggest making a reservation. Owners Massimo and Maurizio are very nice and speak a little bit of English.

I do not suggest Osteria del Orso-- it is nouvelle cuisine with the snobbiest waiters.

Eating out in Rome

Hi i live in Rome and eat in Rome, and write a lot about the Eternal City. And I love reading posts from visitors. Orso 80(navona) is a great suggestion for an anniversary dinner, great fish. For more formal, I suggest Dal Bolognese (popolo). For something humble-- Il Conte Tacchia (trastevere). And for romantic, i suggest La Bacala-- very foodie and gourmet as well.

Ristorante Spirito DiVino

Hi Magnum, this is one of my favorite lunch stops. Very small menu and limited seatings-- a kind of hidden gem. It is still a great spot for lunch.... dinner, i think i would try something a bit more fun, and in Trastevere-- Il Conte Tacchia, Augustarello, Da Lucia-- the evenings have great atmosphere.

I suggest you go for a real Roman dinner, and something fun. My favorite place is Taverna Trilussa (via Politeama), in Trastevere, near Piazza Trilussa. First start off with an aperitivo at Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere (any of the caffes will do) and then head over to Taverna Trilussa, the prices are great. The menu is Roman (written in Roman and also English). The owners are very nice, and they serve pastas in the large pendole that they were cooked in!
The antipasti are wonderful and typical -- mozzarella in carozza, scamorza, fritte....
