Palena, Corduroy or ???

what's the bar at the new corduroy location like?

If you were choosing between Proof and Central, how would you pick?

Palena, Corduroy or ???

I would make a res for the dining room at Palena I think. Apparently the burger on the cafe menu is great.

Thanks for the feedback. I am thinking drinks at Dino and dinner at Palena. I haven't had dinner at Proof but I get the sense it is more scene & wine program than top-notch food. Any thoughts? Other places I have't considered?

Heritage India - given up

Rasika is in a different class than Heritage. It is one of the best restaurants--not just Indian--in D.C. Heritage still does a decent lunch buffet on the weekends.

Thanks for this. What about being right across from convention center?

Did you start with cocktails upstairs?

Palena, Corduroy or ???

Looking to impress and show off DC to a few foodies from NYC. Want a restaurant with top food and a more relaxed, neighborhood feel. Love Komi, but not able to do a 4 hours tasting extravaganza on this night. If we could order a la carte from Komi's menu, that would be perfect (but we are going on Saturday night). Cityzen and Citronelle are both amaz, but I want to avoid the formal, hotel scene.

Palena and Corduroy come to mind (though I haven't tried the latter since its move to a new location). Can you share recent experiences at these? Other recommendations would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help

The Settler's Inn in Hawley, PA

Can anyone share recent experiences eating at the Settler's Inn? Thinking of doing a special dinner there--feedback would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Can anyone share experiences eating at the Settler's Inn in the Poconos? Apparently they won an award from Wine Spectator recently...

TIA

Andre's in Newton, PA

Yes I did mean NJ. Thanks so much for this info. Can you tell me a bit more about your experiences at antelao? We are staying in milford, pa. And unfortunately, Andre's is doing a wine tasting with passed apps and not serving their regular menu the night we are free to go

Special Dinner near Milford, PA

That's great to hear. Did you stay there recently, Jay? Any other thoughts on the hotel or area?

Special Dinner near Milford, PA

Thanks for this. I am coming to the same conclusion, though Andre's does appear to be a bright spot in the area. Service in the country often leaves much to be desired, but I am hoping to find one place for a great dinner

Andre's in Newton, NJ

Can anyone share experiences at this restaurant?

Special Dinner near Milford, PA

I am staying at the Hotel Fauchere in Milford, PA in a few weeks to celebrate an anniversary. We will be having dinner one night at the Delmonico Room in the hotel, which is reportedly quite good. Looking for a second venue for a special dinner with amazing food in a romantic setting.

My girlfriend and I (late 20's) live in NYC and are serious foodies. Willing to drive 20 miles or so from Milford for the right spot. Anyone have feedback on Restaurant Latour or Andre's?

Your suggestions for top restaurants in the area would be much appreciated. TIA.

Anyone had recent meals at these spots and can give some feedback?

Thanks!

Just like Apizz but not Apizz

Cool, thanks. Anyone have thoughts on Il Buco?

Just like Apizz but not Apizz

I hear Locanda Verde is a mad house. true?

Just like Apizz but not Apizz

Hey hounders

Planning a dinner for 6 and would love to go to Apizz but another couple was just there last wknd so it's off the list. But that food--delicious, genuine and warm-hearted italian--and vibe--intimate and warm--is just what we are looking for.

Lived and chowed all over nyc for years--are we looking for dell'anima, Il Buco, Lavagna, Piccolo Angolo, Crispo, Lupa, I Coppi, Pepolino...or some other place?

Where do we meet to eat?

Thanks for your collective knowledge in advance.

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

Wonderful. I am so appreciative of all this feedback. Did you end up trying Swoon too, emn? Where did you stay?

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

Great info, thanks so much. Have you stayed in any B&Bs in the area you particularly loved?

My quest has morphed into finding the most incredible/delicious/romantic restaurant within 40 miles of rhinebeck...we chowhounders are an obsessive bunch!

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

What about an anniversary dinner at CIA--any thoughts?

Has anyone done wine tasting in the New Paltz/mid Hudson Ruver Valley area?

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

OK, great. This is helpful. It sounds like Hudson has a few solid choices. Better than Rhinebeck or Red Hook? I have read a bit about Swoon and it sounds like it could be a nice fit. What about eating at ICE? I haven't been in years.

Has anyone stayed at Mount Merino Manor by chance?

rrems, you've given great advice! what are your thoughts on the area's wineries?

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

This is great info--thanks so much! Let me ask you this: if you could pick one restaurant only for an amazing dinner, price no object, where would you go?

Also, is Hudson too far north to explore the area's wineries and check out Rhinebeck during the day?

Foodie Anniversary in Hudson Valley

Hi Hounds, I need your counsel:

I am planning a weekend trip with my girlfriend from NYC to celebrate our anniversary. We are late-20's, serious foodies and looking to get out of the city for some bucolic autumn scenery, fresh country air, art/antique browsing, and most importantly, great food & wine. 2 fabulous and memorable dinners, with local farm to fork cusine, must be at the heart of the trip. Where should we aim to stay and eat--Rhinebeck, New Paltz, Red Hook, Hudson? Is it worth doing a winery tour in the area?

The Mount Merino Manor in Hudson and the Emerson Resort in Mt. Tremper were both recommended to me. Can anyone share experiences at these places or shed light on the restaurant scene in the Upper Hudson Valley?

We spent some time last winter in Lenox and Stockbridge, MA and enjoyed the Berkshire country experience. I have been to Hyde Park and eaten at ICE but not for a long time.

Some our our favorite restaurants in NYC are Blue Hill, Saul in Brooklyn, Mas, Babbo, Gotham Bar & Grill, and Apizz, to name a few.

Any advice would be so appreciate as I am trying to put together a special (and surprise) weekend.

Thanks!!

Apizz, Hearth or Il Buco

Perfect. From what I understand, Hearth does an incredible pig roast, which is intriguing. Anyone experienced this?

Can anyone shed light on a recent experience at Il Buco? We love Lupa, I Sodi, and recently enjoyed the food at L'Artusi (but the service was problematic).

Also, my girlfriend has eaten at Apizz before, but not the other two spots--gotta decide how relevant that consideration is.

Apizz, Hearth or Il Buco

Thanks so much. This is helpful. We are going to a party at Blue Owl, a great cocktail spot, on 2nd ave and 12th street after dinner, which makes hearth a bit more convenient...but obviously we can shoot over to drinks from Apizz or Il Buco, too.

Apizz, Hearth or Il Buco

Trying to choose one for a relaxed and romantic bday dinner with my girlfriend. Any recent experiences at these places you can share, or points of difference to consider, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for the advice.
