Neptune Oyster closes kitchen at 9:30...need an alternative.

We are looking for a place for dinner in the North End...ideally a fish heavy menu. Whole grilled branzini, oysters, etc. Neptune Oyster would be perfect but we need to sit down at 9:30 and their kitchen closes at 9:30 so we need an alternative. Any suggestions would be much appreciate.

Pig Roasts at Boston Area Restaurants?

I was trying to plan a pig roast at Citizen Public Oyster House but they aren't going to be having roasts on Friday or Saturday nights. I didn't realize this so I assumed a Friday would be fine and have a group ready for a pig roast to celebrate a birthday on 11/12. Does anyone have ideas of other restaurants that have pig roasts or other similar family style feasts?

Where does seafood shine?

What I mean by surprise is a restaurant that isn't known for their seafood but does it well. For example, I recently had a delicious salmon entree at Russell House Tavern. The butterfish entree at Blue Ginger is another favorite of mine. I also love the ceviche at La Verdad. None of those restaurants is known as a seafood restaurant but I am pretty sure their seafood is better than a place like Atlantic Fish.

Any surprises for where to find the best fresh, delicious seafood entrees?

Deux Ave and Citizen Oyster Bar...Any news?

I think it is the people from Franklin Cafe...still no update though on opening date.

Deux Ave and Citizen Oyster Bar...Any news?

I know Citizen Oyster Bar has a blog but nothing has been updated recently and it says it was slated to open July 2010 so I was curious if anyone had info. I can't find anything about when Deux Ave is hoping to open aside from the sign in their window that says "Summer 2010".

Thanks!

Looking for good food in a fun atmosphere.

I am trying to decide on a place where the food will be good but not the main focus. Places with live music, great cocktails, etc...Open to all neighborhoods.

Restaurants or Cafes serving Kale Salad in Boston?

Thanks, I was really hoping to find it in a raw form. I will give Whole Foods salad bar a try!

FLAGEL - flattened bagel - Where can I get them retail or wholesale?

Random but there is a spot on Nantucket called The Green...on West Creek Road and they have Flagels!

Restaurants or Cafes serving Kale Salad in Boston?

Hi, I've gotten really into kale after a trip to California where kale was often on menus. I can't seem to find it on any menus in the city. Happy to get it even as take out. Any ideas?

Kid-friendly in Cambridge/B.U. area?

Reasonable North End Dinner Suggestions?

Sorry, this is a bit late but I think Panza is the best reasonable food and wine in the NE.

Vegetarian Friendly for Boston trip

I just posted these on another but they would also be good dinner options for you...South End Buttery, Franklin Cafe, The Beehive, Bin 26. Also, Cafe Jaffa has amazing falafel, greek salad, etc...great lunch option. Paramount in Beacon Hill is another good lunch spot. Also, head to the North End and you can stumble into any number of decent italian restaurants for pastas, eggplant parm, etc...I highly rec trying Panza for Eggplant Parm.

Inexpensive, good, vegetarian friendly restaurant in the south end?

Franklin Cafe has a veg menu by request. Also, Beehive has lots of veg options. I think South End Buttery would be a good option too.

Looking for outdoor eating, wine & salads

Cafe Mangal in Wellesley is BYOB and has the most amazing quality salads. Can say with confidence you'd be hard pressed to find a better salad anywhere.

Any new Thursday night dining deals?

Just thought I'd see if anyone has anything worth sharing!

Thanks!

Best Veggie Burger in Boston

I am in search of the best veggie burger in boston. I don't like my veggie burger to consist of rice and cheese in a patty. I am looking for something with beans and/or veggies...and something that tastes homemade. Good bun is always a plus.

Looking for a dining "experience"

Also, I should note that it doesn't need to be an "formal" night out. I just want quality. A gastropub where you can enjoy quality food and drinks for as long as you want would probably be ideal.

Looking for a dining "experience"

I know that is a bit vague but interpret it as you desire. To be a bit more specific, I want to go somewhere that isn't rushed. I want to feel like my dinner out was a night out- not just a meal. Any suggestions in Boston or Cambridge?

Dungeness Crab Entrees in Boston or Cambridge?

I just got back from California and had some of the most amazing dungeness crab. Looking for local restaurants with it on the entree menu. Any ideas?

An Affordable Birthday Lunch in Boston or Surrounding Area?

I have the same question to ask but was hoping to find a place specifically in Cambridge. Affordable, fun atmosphere, not picky about type of cuisine and would prefer for it to be a casual meal. Thanks!

Great Thai in Boston or Brookline?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like Dok Bua, S&I and Rod Dee are worth a try. Sorry to complicate matters but out of these are any of them good for sitting down or are they all more of take out spots? If they are take out spots are there any sit down thair restaurants you all recommend?

La Verdad...reviews of things other than their tacos!

This is surprising that nobody has responded to the thread. I think it is safe to assume that the tacos are the only thing worth while at the restaurant?

Mediocrity in Wellesley

I think this place has just let itself go downhill. When it first opened I thought it was going to be a nice addition to the lacking Wellesley restauarant scene but it is not. Well, it is fine if you want a "decent" meal but it is no alternative to Blue Ginger for a solid meal out. I recently tried the new place called Milestone and would handsdown go there over the Cottage in the future if I want a casual bite to eat. We had Lentil soup with pork belly, Lamb Burger and Beet salad with Shrimp. It is still new and you can tell they are still trying to work everything out but it was already better than the Cottage has ever been and more reasonable.

HELP! We need some good food cheap!!

Trattoria Toscano near Fenway, Paramount in Beacon Hill, Orinoco in South End

La Verdad...reviews of things other than their tacos!

I realize the big draw here are the tacos but the menu is much more than just tacos. I've had the guac here and it was really good but good guac isn't the most difficult thing to make well so I am curious if people have reviews of the rest of the menu.

Great Thai in Boston or Brookline?

I've been searching for great consistently good Thai in Boston or Brookline. So far I've tried Thai Basil, Island Hopper, Bangkok Blue and King and I. I'd say King and I was probably the best of the bunch so far but none have been good enough to make us want to become repeat costumers. I've heard really good things about Rod Dee but it isn't in the city so I'd like to find something closer but if that really is the best we would make the trip (isn't that far after all!). Any ideas?

affordable north end, or go to other neighborhood?

We tried Panza on Hanover on Saturday night for the first time and LOVED it. Aside from the food being great it was very reasonable, service was good, cute atmosphere, good selection of inexpensive wines. We will no doubt return...the eggplant parm was a nice change from the typical heavy breaded versions you find most places but the best dish at the table was the "badly" cut lasagne with peppercorn pasta. Anyway, I thought it was worth a mention on this thread.

Romantic dinner, walking distance to Hyatt Downtown (Lafayette place)?

No. 9 Park and Marliave are both walking distance and great options for what you want.
