Aria Afghan - Persian Kingston NY

ditto - Spector49's comments. I had 2 well served, delicious meals in this new, spotlessly clean, small and cozy restaurant. Friendly owner who will gladly help in menu selections. Highly recommended.

MUST EATS? near rt.28 Margaretteville/Catskills Park/Kingston area?

You'll need to drive a little. Woodstock offers New World Home Cooking and the Bear Cafe. Both are excellent and worth the drive. If you go as far as Kingston, the Hoffman House is quite good. It's in the "Stockade" or historical district and worthy of a walk around the old town.

New World Home Cooking, Woodstock, NY

To update my last posting: We've been regular patrons for 15 years and have not been served a bad or mediocre meal. The food is exceptionally good. Eclectic, interesting tasty and priced properly. Service has always been fine, never rude and staff is alway courteous. Some previous posters may have hit a "bad" night or had some unlucky event but NWHC has been a local favorite for years. In Woodstock, a restaurant has be good or they won't succeed for the fifteen years that New World has been around.

Lunch and nice dinner in/near Kingston?

All these suggestions are good ones. Kingston/Woodstock has an abundance of decent eateries. We like the Hoffman House on North Front Street in Kingston, a locals favorite with seating at an outdoor patio for warm afternoons or evenings.

Woodstock, NY

I second New World Home Cooking on Route 212. Most every restaurant in Woodstock is good so you can't really go wrong. Bear Cafe is also noteworthy

Woodstock, where to eat

Geographical Error Woodstock Playhouse is at Rt 212 and Rt 375 in Woodstock. The Bear cafe is on Rt 212 in Bearsville, next to the Bearsville Theater and WDST Radio station

Anyone been to the new Thai place in Rhinebeck?

July 9th 2007 - My wife and I went for dinner (cautiously after reading some of the posts) and it was fine. Pretty good, actually. Spring Rolls, 2 salads (good size) and a Mussaman Curry and Pad Thai entrees + Thai Iced Tea for $50- plus tip. We met another couple we knew and they, too, were enjoying their dinners. Soft Thai music, quite clean, good service, interesting decor and set in a small house on South Market Street making it quite cozy and homey. We'll return.

Dinner (with a view?) near Kingston, NY

Several choices: Rosita's has outdoor seating on their Hudson River terrace. The menu is limited, but good mexican food. Great on a warm summer day. Best view of the area: Skytop (on Route 28, near traffic circle) request a window table and enjoy a sensational view of Kingston, the Hudson and environs. I haven't been to The Steel House, but they too, are directly on the river and the menu looked pretty good. Also, Mariner's Harbor offers notably good service, seafood and steaks, plus you have a fabulous view of the Rondout Creek, boats, etc. Request a window table, or sit on the terrace and enjoy.

anniversary dinner in woodstock, ny?

Blue Mountain Bistro (sadly) has closed so New World Home Cooking and the Bear Cafe are top choices. There aren't any "hotels" in the Woodstock area. Nearest corporate style motels are Ramada Inn, Holiday Inn and Courtyard by Marriott in Kingston. If Kingston works for you then consider the Hoffman House for good American food set in a historical stone building.

Restaurants in New Bern, NC

I agree with Shugga's posting. The Sheridan has a very good Sunday night prime rib dinner for reasonable money. The B&B with restaurant (Beef Barn) across from the Sheridan gets a failing grade. While the environs are attractive and the service is good, the over seasoned food and chef's attitude isn't. Small, little, in-town restaurants all warrant a try. Most are good and reasobaly priced.

Lunch between NYC and Saratoga Springs??

Sadly, New World in not open for lunch
