Paris market news
You can find all the markets listed by arrondissement here. Click on the name for details (opening hours, days, closest metro stop). I could not find an English version though:

40th birthday in paris central
La Closerie des Lilas, perfect for a birthday. Very classy.
One night in Paris - Chez L'Ami Jean, Le Fontaine de Mars, Chez Dumonet...
Re La Fontaine de Mars. Tables are pretty close to each other, especially on the ground floor. Since the 7th is a rather quiet arrondissement, I believe 10-10.30 pm is somewhat late.
Chez Dumonet is open till 10.30 pm. Not sure until what time they accept orders though.

Recommendations for casual breakfast and dinner near Vavin or Notre Dame Des Champs metro stops?
Yup, I forgot about Wadja. Tiny place as well on Rue de la Grande-Chaumière.
As for Le Plomb du Cantal, I find it so-so only.
Do not forget Jean-Paul Hévin, chocolatier/patissier, Rue Vavin next to the Lux Gardens.
Recommendations for casual breakfast and dinner near Vavin or Notre Dame Des Champs metro stops?
The boulangerie opposite Le Vavin has a small bar where you can have a café au lait and a croissant in case you don't want a large breakfast. They have also small salads, sandwiches, desserts, etc. to take out.
Also, Le Parc aux Cerfs (Rue Vavin, behind Le Sélect), is a nice bistrot open 7/7.
If you care for seafood, Le Bistrot du Dôme, on Rue Delambre.
La Cerisaie is tiny, so book a table.
Brasserie Fernand, on Blvd. Montparnasse, a lively brasserie with traditional food.
For a cousous, La Table de Fès, Rue Sainte-Beuve, open for dinner only.

Delivery or Take-out in Paris
Lenôtre has 'plateaux repas'. Pretty good, but also expensive.
Looking for a Great Chocolate Soufle in Paris
Le Soufflé, 36, Rue Mont-Thabor, 1st. arr., or La Cigale Récamier, 4, Rue Récamier, 7th arr. However, pretty likely they're closed these days.
I strongly believe Au Petit Marguery, Blvd. de Port Royal, 13th arr., is open. They have a soufflé au Grand Marnier on the menu:

My opinion on Laduree macarons
I usually go to the Printemps shop and find the staff while often under pression still kind. Now, the prices is something different, but c'est la vie. It's the same at Hermé, Hévin, Genin, Patisserie des Reves, etc.
My opinion on Laduree macarons
Apparently, Laduree is going to open a shop in NYC on August 22:

It's still my favourite, mainly the caramel-beurre sale version !
Best beouf bourgignon in Paris
I love the boeuf bourguignon at the Brasserie Fernand, 127, Blvd. Montparnasse, near Vavin metro stop. It's on the regular menu. It's a lively neighbourhood brasserie, no need to book in advance.
To know if it's the best, I'd have to try all restaurants offering it... and then, it would only be my opinion !
THAI IN PARIS
This thread should get you started. However, Paris is not really the place for outstanding SE Asian food in general.

August 6 in Paris
In general, you won't need a reservation at the Noura restos. I love the one on Blvd. Montparnasse (close to Vavin metro stop), 6th arr., pretty large with a hidden garden.

Foodie visiting Paris in the fall... Grateful for input!
Almost all of these restos have been commented numerous times. Please use the search function.
As for soufflés, I like La Cigale Récamier (Rue Récamier off Rue de Sèvres, 7th arr.) a lot better than Le Soufflé.
I'd skip L'Avenue unless you like spots to see and to be seen!
Eat lunch near Gare du Nord for Eurostar passenger
Terminus Nord. They're used to clients with little time...

Otherwise, get yourself something to eat ON the train.
Tourist area restaurants in Paris
You can't go wrong with the Café de l'Epoque. Never been disappointed there.
paris: i need to choose between le florimond and la fontaine de mars
My vote goes to Le Florimond. You find dishes you won't find that much anywhere else. Besides, I do not really like the menu at La Fontaine de Mars. But that's me.

a few scattered questions re paris restaurants
No idea. All I can say is
1) my apertif, a ti-punch was served with no ice and I had to wait quite some time to get some,
2) that our red wine was by ways too warm. We refused the bottle,
3) on the other hand, my starter, a slow-cooked tomato with some chèvre came out of the fridge and tasted like nothing.
a few scattered questions re paris restaurants
Les Ombres is still as bad. Its 65€ menu for dinner is not only overpriced, but simply everything but special. Had to go there not long ago. Will refuse in the future.
The view is the only thing worth going there.
If it's for the view, I'd go to Georges and have a club sandwich which isn't all that bad. The omelettes are pretty much acceptable as well.
If your starting point is the 7th ar. - Best pasteries close by
Tarte au citron from Millet, 103, Rue Saint-Dominique.
Lebanese in Paris....
Noura, 121, Blvd. Montparnasse, in the very southern 6th arr. (M°: Vavin). Open 7/7.
It has a wonderful hidden garden.

In fact, Zyriab is run by Noura as well.
Paris 7eme arrondissement restaurants
The 7th arr. is pretty large. The liveliest part is around Ecole Militaire where you'll find some places to have breakfast.
If you do a search (type 7th arr. into the search box) you'll find lots of suggestions for nice bistrots in the 7th. The same places are recommended regularly here on this board, mainly Ch. Constant's places Les Cocottes, Café Constant, etc. on Rue Saint-Dominique or La Fontaine de Mars and Le Petit Troquet. Le Sancerre is a nice wine bar on Avenue Rapp.
You'll find some good suggestions here:

Paris in July
I for myself love La Rotonde. And it's open 7/7 with continuous service. Perfect also for people watching.
a funny thing happened on the way to the bistro...
I find this extremely strange indeed. I suggest before you actually go and have lunch or diner with folks you have never met before, to just for for a drink. When you think those folks are really interested in having a meal, meet them again or not...
I am with you that this must be terribly embarassing, especially at a place you regularly go.
dirt cheap eats- less than 8 euros
Hm.... quite a challenge, I'd say. But here's a discussion in which you're likely to find some good suggestions like the Foyer de la Madeleine:
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/692088
In case you're staying in an appartement, eat as much as you can 'at home'.
Best glace flavors by shop
Hm... I do not think that one can really argue about personal preferences.
For me: sorbet with whipped cream is already a no-go...
A question I am afraid to ask...
Since the Mövenpick resto in town has gone, you'd have to go to the Mövenpick Dream Castle at Disney, I guess...
And why are you afraid to ask, I find it still better than Amorino.
Paris on a budget
I'd go to Le Parc aux Cerfs, Rue Vavin, 6th arr. or then, to La Cerisaie, Blvd. Edgar Quinet, 14th arr.
I'd still have enough for an aperitif and one for the road in one of the famous Montparnasse cafés like La Rotonde, Le Dome, Le Sélect, etc.
