Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a thanksgiving meal?
Eater came out w/this list today:

NEED a restaurant that would be good for ENTIRE mom's side of family (23 people!)
Our family has had gathering at Capsouto Freres after going to Carmines for years when their prices & noise level went out of control. Good food, friendly staff , pleasant space. Soufles are their specialty. We too have a wide range of ages & all enjoyed.

Prix Fixe dinner deals in Manhattan ?
La Sirene offers a $27, 3 course PF 5-7PM cash only & is BYOB http://www.lasirenenyc.com/
Ben's Best
Looks like Deli Masters is gone as of 2 months ago. http://www.savethedeli.com/2009/07/29/deli-masters-closes-in-queens/
Restaurant with great whisky/bourbon list?
Second the recomendation of St Andrews which I prefer over Keens for their Single Malt selection. St Andrews menu also offers a tasting size as well as a dram.
Lunch near Bryant Park for 6 people
Perhaps Akdeniz , a Turkish restaurant on 46 St may fit the occassion & they have a $22 prix fixe.

need ideas for family reunion 22 people dinner
Our family used to go to Carmine's until it got so overly loud. Since then been going to Capsouto Freres and have enjoyed it immensely, particularly their terrific soufles. I can not think of a BYO place that would be big enough although perhaps La Sirene if you all went early enough. Please let us know what you decide.
Favorite BYOBs?
Have enjoyed La Sirene w/no corkage & $27 prix fixe. Have found best to go early as by 7PM gets a bit noisy.
Healthy foodstuffs on Long Island
FYI - Rising Tides "deli" section is up & running. Actually, don't recall it ever being down.
Why can't NY understand the croissant?
If you take a trip to Jackson Heights you'll find the Pattiserie Cannelle by the former pastry chef of the Waldorf making wonderful croissants as well as many other delicious goodies.
BYOB in downtown manhattan
On the other hand, at La Sirene if you go for the Prix Fixe @$26.95 from 5 to 7 PM one might reach goal of saving money. http://www.lasirenenyc.com/
La Bonne Soupe fire
What a shame after all these years. Let's hope they're up & running ASAP. Always a good reliable place. Thanks for the heads up info.
Seeking: inexpensive restaurant near 53rd Street & 2nd Ave
Two relatively inexpensive French restaurants are in the area: Montparnesse (51 & 2nd) & Les Sans Cullottes (57 & 2nd). Their prix fixes are IMO worth the money even though you'll be time constrained for ordering. Best of luck.
Best Soup in New York
I wholeheartedly second Edison Cafe's matzoh ball soup & yes, they have it daily.
BBQ lovers, Run-don't walk-to Mo Gridder's
Wow ! as a Cue lover this is great to know, particularly on a snowy day like today & just think, now one can combine bbq w/great Italian for a whole day's trek. Thanks for the info & resurrecting this post.
Lunch for 25-reasonable but good-family reunion
Our family used to go to Carmines (UWS location) for years. While I found it acceptable, some objected when prices were raised 2 years ago & crowds took over at this time of year. Then we began going to Capsouto Freres & everyone seems pleased. They're known for soufles, the room is reasonably quiet yet not dead & prices reasonable to all.
Best of luck.
Old Homestead or Keen's?
In addition, perhaps the Single Malt selection @ Keen's w/their own menu also gives Keen's a big edge.
Cheap Eats near Theater District / Times Square?
Second Pam Real Thai. Went to a show last week & PRT pre-theater. Two of us shared an app & each had an entree for $25 including tip. Not outstanding yet passable Thai.
Good Bar Good Whiskey
If by Whiskey, your colleague means Scotch whisky (both single malt & blended) then I'd recommend St Andrews (44 St bet 6 & Bdwy). They have a tasting size which means you can try as many as you'd like. Their bartenders are most knowledgeable. http://standrewsnyc.com/
Good business lunch spot near 7th ave, Mid to Downtown
Amongst the many appropriate restaurants in the area, Keen's Steakhouse 36, & 6th is a favorite. A bonus is good single malt selection to lubricate afternoon deals.
Dinner at L'Ecole
I've eaten at L'Ecole 3 times over the past 5 years or so & have had a good meal each time. Since the menu changes from time to time it would be difficult to say which are preferred dishes. I have found the 5 course dinner to be the most enjoyable simply because the price is the same as the 4 course! BTW I've found the wines to be pleasing too. Hope this is helpful & the meal is pleasant.
how's the pizza at ROBERTAS?
Although I haven't been yet, it is on my list after NYT's . Meehan gave this review last week:

Butcher on North Shore LI?
Closest butcher to SC I know of is: Birch Hill Meats
153 Birch Hill Road, Locust Valley, NY 11560
http://www.birchhillmeats.com
BTW, I agree Bernard's is expensive not only for butchering but everything they sell.
