I am heading to Game 5 (if necessary...hopefully, yet hopefully not, lol) of Montreal vs Philadelphia. I need some suggestions for a nice place to grab a meal pre-game within walking distance of the Bell Centre / Queen Elizabeth. I am travelling with my grandmother. Both of us enjoy good food and are not picky eaters. I really wanted to try Au Pied Du Cochon, but after mapquesting seems like it is out of walking distance. Any good suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, and Go Habs! |

Favourite Iron Chef America Judge I have this argument with my roomate who hates Jeffrey Steingarten. I, on the other hand, think he is the best judge. He can be brutally honest - not only to the chef, but to other judges - but I think that's why I like him the most. What are other people's opinions? |

I just had strange thought the other day, how many birds of flight are typically available to eat? |

Does anyone know of a place that sells duck in, or around, the K-W area? I would prefer to not travel as far as Toronto. I'm thinking within the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph area. Thanks. |

Suggestions for a special dinner My girlfriends birthday is coming up. I'm thinking of making a homemade ravioli for her. Filled with boiled lobster, chanterelle mushroom, tarragon butter. Sauced in a dijon saffron cream sauce. Does anyone have suggestions for improvement, or think some of these flavour combinations won't work together? As well, I would like to cook a beef tenderloin paired with mushrooms in some sort of way, suggestions for this would also be appreciated! Thanks. |

The Next Iron Chef: Did NY Times Spoil the Season? http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/... Talks about Guy on the Iron Chef. |

Kitchen Nightmares US - Oct. 17 episode The FOX version is really no comparison with the BBC version. It's very sad and unfortunate. |

The Next Iron Chef: Did NY Times Spoil the Season? I think it is Guy Rubino, from Rain in Toronto. |

I completely agree with the above post. I thought the original Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares were marvelous. Yet, I could not stand but 10 minutes of a FOX episode. It seemed as though they were trying to dramatize any employee-employer conflict, and the focus was definately not on the food, or the running of a restaurant. It was on internal bickering between the restaurant's people. Very disappointing. |

Also, would anyone know of a location around SW Ontario where you could pick your own Morels? I know they are particularly difficult to find, and I'm not sure if anyone would be really to relinquish their secret if they knew, but it would be sincerely appreciated. |

I've looked all summer around the K-W area for someone selling morels but had no success. Just wondering for next year where I should be looking. |
|
|
So true! I often pile the mushrooms on a lightly buttered, toasted slice of a fresh baguette. MMM. |

Does anyone know where you could buy Morels in SW Ontario? Also, what are some people's favourite types of mushrooms and mushroom dishes? |

I'm planning a trip to Cairo in the near future and would like to experience some fine Egyptian cuisine. What would some of the best places be to go? I am not interested in any places dedicated to types of cuisine readily available in N.America, or specific to some other locale. I am interested in an exquisite, delicious, truly Egyptian gastronomic experience. Thank you. |

I'm planning a trip to Sydney in the near future and would like to experience some Australian fine dining. Where can I go to experience unique gastronomic creations, not widely offered elsewhere (ie. not strictly French, Asian, etc). Thank you. |

I was watching a Food Network special years back documenting the opening of this restaurant. It looked to be a spectacular place, is it? What's the food like? |
|
|
The restaurant at the Centre in the Square is not half bad. Verses is nearby (on Victoria, East of Centre in the Square). Very fine dining and excellent food. |

|
Definately try Verses in Kitchener, Janet Lynn's in Uptown Waterloo and Bhima's on King St just N of University (right before Morty's). Go to Torontolife.com for more specific reviews of these restaurants, but these are the three premier dining establishments in Kitchener-Waterloo. |
