Where can i find BISCOFF spread??
They have jars of speculoos spread near the jars of peanut butter, too.
Krazy Kary's Kaput?
They closed April 1st - I happened to go in on March 31st and they were posting the signs, divvying up the leftover stuff, etc.
Starbuck's fabulous Dark Cherry Mocha .... admit it... you want it.
I was in my local Starbucks one morning when they were sampling these, and loved them. Then a few weeks later I bought one as a treat, and it was meh. Maybe the tiny sample size cup was just the right amount, and more was overkill? Or maybe it just goes better with the special taste of "free"!
New Trader Joe's yea/nay thread 2nd quarter 2010
I just tried the 100% Columbian instant coffee and was pleasantly surprised by it. (I think they have two kinds with similar labels - maybe "100% Columbian Instant Coffee" and "Instant 100% Columbian Coffee"? Anyway, I got the one that says it's surprisingly close to fresh brewed.)
And the peanut butter with golden flaxseeds is making my breakfasts a little crunchier.
Best plain yogurt
Trader's Point Creamery Yogurt. Comes in a bottle, not a tub. I get it at Whole Foods. So much better than any other I've tried!
Where can I buy large reusable grocery bags?
WF sells a couple of smaller sizes too. One has a square bottom and is intended for bakery goods, but it's pretty useful for general purposes.
How does Johnny D's make oatmeal so yummy?
Shaw's in Porter Square has Flahavan's in the British expat section.
looking for buddha's hand
Saw it in Whole Foods on River Street in Cambridge in, um, January?
Seeking Foo Foo? A Very Unique Food. (long)
I don't know about San Diego but here in the Boston area, they have it at Whole Foods.
Best of Christina's Spices
One way you could add some "local flavor" would be to order some maple/spice mixes, marinades, etc from Warren Farm (http://thewarrenfarm.com). Of course the spices aren't grown locally but the maple and many of the herbs are right from the farm. The Wentworths, who run the farm, do a number of farmers' markets in the summer - they are really nice people.
Moving to Arlington Center - good idea food-wise?
TJs has been there for a couple of weeks, actually.
PF Changs now open in Cambridge - Galleria Mall
"I would argue that so has Wolfgang Puck."
The Wolfgang Puck pizza at the Museum of Science lunchroom would agree with you.
Starbucks sucks, but I stil go there
What??I like the way their coffee tastes. Apparently some other people agree with me. You don't. Okay. That's fine. Doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Where to get a good burger in Arlington, Lexington, or Burlington?
Oh, definitely Krazy Karry's. I haven't tried the raspberry lime rickeys but I do like the made-to-order lemonade.

Granite mortar and pestle search
We got ours online. Best use of a Priority Mail flat-rate box EVER.
Where to buy sticky rice?
Kokuho Rose is pretty widely available. I know they have it at the Porter Square Shaw's so I bet that other area supermarkets have it too. Whole Foods carries at least some Nishiki - I've bought their brown rice at the West Medford location.
Pizza tastes better when eaten with a fork & knife vs. hand held?
Ha, I've caught my toddler doing a variant of #3 when I put my plate near the edge of the table!
Convenience Products And The Environment-How Ridiculous Can You Get?
Ditto Massachusetts, although I remember a confusing incident with my Iowa-bred grandfather where he meant "wallet."
New Pho/Vietnamese N. Cambridge
Yes, it's the same owners/staff as when it was Thai and Mandarin Kitchen.
Where can I buy halloumi cheese in Boston?
I've seen it at Pemberton Farms on Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge. (A short walk from the Davis Square T stop.)

Pho House, North Cambridge
It's the same people behind the counter, so I assume some of the lunch specials are the same.
Trader Joe's out of the Fresh Pond project
What's up with the renovations on the one by Magoo's? I only caught a quick look as I sped by, but it looks like a very fancy two-story DD's.
Pho House, North Cambridge
The former Thai and Mandarin Kitchen at 2261 Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge has a new sign & menu - they are now Pho House, Thai and Vietnamese food. (with some Chinese-American standards like General Gao's chicken) still on the menu. I'm eating takeout pho right now, and it's pretty good. With Pho 'n' Rice, I have two new nearby pho options - I'm thrilled!

Smaller serving dishes in the past?
Yeah, Brian Wansink mentions this in his book "Mindless Eating." Apparently larger plates encourage us to eat more.
Dunkin Donuts Waffle Sandwich
I confess, I really like these little sandwiches. I've never had a McGriddle so I can't compare. I don't usually eat fast-food breakfasts. But something about the advertisement brought me in (good work, marketers!) and I actually do like them. It's not haute cuisine but the waffle and the egg are both pleasantly tender. (Perhaps this is a case of "you say soggy, I say tender"?) The waffle is mildly maple-flavored. The bacon, if you get it, is not bad. Not especially crisp though, if that's what you're looking for. The cheese is completely forgettable.
They seem like prime pregnancy food. If they had been around when I was pregnant, I would have eaten quite a few. Especially since there's a DD 3 blocks away from my house.
Worth it? Around here it's something like $1.99 for the sandwich with a medium coffee. Go for it!
Cara Cara oranges
A little of each, I think. The ones I've been eating this week are plenty juicy. I don't know how hard they are to peel. But, yeah, "mildly orangy" is about right. I thought they would have a more intense flavor. Wikipedia says it's a complex flavor "evoking notes of cherry, rose petal and blackberry" but I can't say I've noticed that! I like them fine anyway.
Help a Toddler Gain some Needed Weight
Salad dressing? My 2-year-old loves to lick Caesar dressing off tortillas cut into strips. Sometimes I think I should be giving it to her in a shot glass. (Yours might prefer a blander-tasting variety.) She likes Reuben sandwiches with Russian dressing too. It sounds like the whole sandwich would be too much for your child, but maybe she'd like a grilled cheese sandwich on soft bread with dressing and lots of butter?
(notices date of original post) Oh. Your little girl is 4 1/2 now!
Trader Joe's Challenge...
I'll have to try the samosas! My two-year-old loves the chicken gyoza potstickers. When her molars were coming in, she would eat them straight out of the freezer. I think the pointy ends were easy to get on just the right spot. (I checked, they are fully cooked.) She loves the bite-size pizzas too.
Chicken stock?
Where can I find good chicken stock, fresh or frozen? Something made locally, maybe even made by simmering actual bones and scraps? Whole Foods in Fresh Pond had some a few weeks ago but it seemed to be a limited-time offering. I'm in North Cambridge near Davis Square, so I'd especially like to find it in Cambridge or Somerville. Thanks!
