Thanks so much for the help.

First visit ever from my dear sister from New England

Thank you for the Ferry Building tip, but I want a place where we would sit down and share meaningful conversation.

Price range: without drinks, $50 for two.

How good is Piperade?

Others?

First visit ever from my dear sister from New England

I would like to take her somewhere at least somewhat special or colorful or unusual for lunch this coming Friday. Word is that it will rain that day. Could someone kindly suggest a place.

Mike

If it does not rain we will be on the open air double decker sightseeing bus for a couple of hours in the AM.

Best quiet, pretty reasonable place

Thanks for the warning about noise, BernalKC. I definitely want a quiet place - and, best of all worlds, - an attractive place.

Best quiet, pretty reasonable place

Thanks for your well thought out reply.

Best quiet, pretty reasonable place

Beloved newphew and his new wife will be in SF for a Sunday night dinner. Would like to take them somewhere special that is inexpensive to moderate. Ideally, the food will be acceptable - not necessarily great - but the restaurant will have a nice "feel" to it. Any neighborhood is OK. The clientele should be mixed to younger. Any ideas?

And thanks for the help.

John

Sf Mexican that's a real "destination" spot?

Ideally, the feeling is festive without being outrageously noisy. Attractive decor is a must. The food needs to be fresh. Reasonably priced or medium priced would be best. Too much to ask for in this Spanish-named city?

Thanks,
Mike

My posts don't post

The last three times I have posted a new topic it has never come up on the board. This last time, right after submitting the post I went back to the SF Bay Area board and it was there with 0 replies. But 4 hours later I could not find it. Any ideas?

In Chico..one to offer and one to ask for

When we visited Chico, Ca a couple of weekends ago we found a really good Indian restaurant, one that can give you a mildly spiced dish while still succeeding at getting across those subtle Indian flavors. It is a simple place, but attractive enough. Priya, on the Esplanade a couple of miles north of the center.

Does anyone have a good idea for us; we are going back to Chico this weekend. Ideally, it will be reasonable, any style, and really good food.

Thanks,

Mike

Almost worth a trip to Chico

I tried this new place over the weekend and was very impressed. The decor is simple, but pleasant enough. The food is excellent (and I have had lots of good Indian food, including in India) Priya Restaurant on the Esplanade near Lassen.

Mike

Decent budget food in Chico?

I need to be there tomorrow and Sunday. Can anyone recommend a good spot? How about for a good breakfast? Thanks for any help.

"Dine about Town" top lunch spots

Thanks so much for the tip, I'll look into it.

"Dine about Town" top lunch spots

Lunch is the best time for me to take advantage of the "Dine About Town" week which is coming up. Can you recommend a place if I only have one chance to go? (Especially interested in a pretty place)

Thanks,

Michael

SF romantic dinner for under $50 for two. Possible?

Thanks for the tips. Cheek to jowl definitely won't work for us tomorrow night, so no Chapeau. Any others to give us a little more to choose from?

Thanks again,

Michael

SF romantic dinner for under $50 for two. Possible?

Ideally, the food would be good and there would be some vegetarian choices. (One half of this anniversary couple is veg) Thanks!

where are the offbeat eating experiences?

Vaguely I remember hearing about some Italian social club that had a Friday night fish feed. And there are those people's homes that they have turned into "unofficial" restaurants.

Are there other offbeat dining experiences?

Reasonably priced power lunch

Thanks for the knowledgable input on this. Probably we'll go to one Market unless someone has some other ideas.

Mike

Reasonably priced power lunch

excellent suggestion. Any others like this?

Mike

Reasonably priced power lunch

Reasonable is $15 or under per meal. I'm looking for a place that ideally is filled with natural light, quiet, has a refined atmosphere about it.

Reasonably priced power lunch

Anybody know a nice place for lunch in downtown San Francisco.
The food should be OK, but the key thing is the setting.

Mike

vegetarian wife having trouble in Puerto Vallarta

We have found the wonderful veg restaurant on the stairs near the cathedral and 100%Natural near the Sheraton.

But that ́s it - we have run out. Does anybody know any other good veg places or even meat places with some good veg dishes.
Help!

Mike

Sunday Brunch East Bay where reservations work

A nice place, not outrageously expensive, possibly with a view for relatives (and my wife and I) tomorrow?

Mike

Any good Sunday evening early birds in SF?

I think there used to be one at Clementine. Is that still on?
Anybody know any others?

Stellar dishes at ordinary restaurants

Sometimes an inexpensive place will have one dish they do exceptionally well. (the spinach ravioli at Fillipo's original
restaurant on College in Oakland qualifies)Can people think of others?
