Hot Chocolate in SF

I haven't had it in a long time but the hot chocolate at Townhall Restaurant was incredible. There was a great depth of flavor. They use like seven different chocolates.

Where can I find a great selection of prosciutto?

Hello hounds. I want to goto a place that has at least five or six varieties. I've been to the Farmer's Market on third as well as the Whole Foods over there and the WF in Hollywood. Please tell me where I can go. Thanks in advance!!!

Quality Restaurants in LA for SF Visitor

As a former SF resident I'll happily recommenced Providence. My last meal at Water Grill was exceptional too.

Office Holiday Party: RNM or Fifth Floor?

The food at The Fifth Floor is really inconsistent and frankly not that great. RNM's food is consistently good to sometimes very good and the atmosphere is far more spirited.

issues of restaurants reusing used food

Anthony Bourdain is one chef and there isn't much that is universal from restaurant to restaurant. As a former chef that has been in the business nearly twenty years I've worked at only one restaurant that recycled bread. All the others tossed and I've never seen anything else recycled to guest recycled to staff is another story. I've worked at mostly high end restaurants though.

Surfas is great but its not like Berkeley Bowl because Berkeley Bowl is an exceptional supermarket and Surfas is an exceptional kitchen supply store with a small selection of grocery products.

Why do people recommend Pann's for breakfast?

I grew up here in LA and have gone to Pann's since I was a little kid. Like any place that serves food whether its fine dining or a coffee shop consistency can be an issue with that said I've always found the fried chicken wings to be at least good if not great. The buttermilk pancakes have been really great recently I've been there in the last month. Its the only thing I ever get so I'm usually pretty happy with the wings and pancakes combo. I did order the waffle once and had to send it back because it was way under cooked, but it was great when they gave me a new crispy one.

New Restaurants in S.F.

HI wonderful chowhounds of S.F.,

I moved away in April and will be visiting soon. I would like to check out some of the brand new restaurants there if you think they're some great ones. By new I mean in the last four months they've opened. Like Brick, Farmer Browns, the restaurant by one of the former Chow guys etc...
I don't care about the type of food or the cost as long as its good. I want new places because I lived there for fourteen years and know most of the oldies but goodies. Thanks in advance.

Duck confit

Don't have the Duck Confit at AOC I just had it on Saturday and it was good but not great the skin wasn't even crisp thats one of the best parts of duck confit. In my experience the simplest food is rarely made well because chefs and cooks want to doctor it up and make their own version. I've never had Duck Confit in the states that compares to what one could get in France.

Best Eggs Benedict?

I can't believe no one has mentioned the eggs benedict at the Elite Cafe its the famous Eggs Benedict that she served at the Meeting House. I don't even like eggs benedict but theirs is the exception.
