Great Pizza in Fort Worth: recommendations anyone?

He said Parton's, not Pizza Patron.

Parton's has been around for 30 years. It's on Cherry Lane a half-mile south of I-30.

[DAL] New Mexican style restaurants in DFW

Y'all need to come try Anthony's Place in Fort Worth on Meacham west of I-35.

He used to be a chef in Santa Fe. Great red and green chile and pure Santa Fe all the way.

He has another place in Parker County named La Choza.

[Dallas] Restaurant Week Reviews

Lanny's in Fort Worth is doing a great job. The entree choices are coconut-crusted halibut or duck with poblano risotto -- he is extending for the next 2 weeks --

Fried Chicken

Babe's uses the Youngblood's recipe. I think they have 8 locations now.

Moving to Tyler, where do we eat?

What about The Shed at Edom?

Great little home-cooking cafe and pie place. It's just a few miles west of the Tyler airport.

Good Eats around DFW/Grapevine Area

Best breakfast near DFW is at Weck's in Lewisville --

Albuquerque cafe with Santa Fe-style green and red chile huevos rancheros, awesome burritos and lunches.

Granbury, TX

1. Loco Coyote steaks & BBQ south of Glen Rose

2. Lone Camp Steakhouse southwest of Granbury near Tolar -- a Texas Monthly top 50

3. Grumps Hamburgers

Everybody ought to go back and get a steak.

Probably just Furr's and the hotels.

(DFW/Arlington) Christmas Tamales

Cardona Tortilla Factory off Loop 820 in Fort Worth makes serviceable commercial tamales. Better than Marquez, which I agree has become skimpy.

I second the nomination for La Popular, too.

And what about Fiesta Grocery? I've heard they have great tamales.

Thanksgiving at Vance Godbey's?

Vance's is a huge buffet -- decent food, better than a cafeteria.

If you're in NRH, I would go to the new Copeland's at Southlake Town Square. Menu looks good!

Greetings from a new Dallasite

The original Bangkok City at Bryan and Peak is far better than the Greenville location --

I would encourage anybody to try it before ranking the "best" Thai.

[DFW] San Franciscan turned Texite in Need of EXTREME help

Best local restaurants in Greater Southlake:

1. Kincaid's
2. Bin 555, Coppell -- great Southwestern wine bar and grill
3. Coppell Deli -- old grocery and burger grill
4. Thai Jasmine -- Harwood in Bedford
5. Fish City Grill -- good little seafood cafe for a Texas suburb
6. Babe's
7. Biscuits Cafe, Grapevine -- good West Coast-style breakfast cafe
8. Weck's, Lewisville -- probably the closest New Mexico or Arizona-style Mex breakfast and lunch, unless you count Blue Mesa Grill
9. Thai Chili in the Square -- avoid all other wretched Square chain restaurants, at least until the new Campania Pizza opens
10. Gloria's -- if you don't like tex-mex try Salva-Mex!

NYC Style Deli in Big D

Carshons, Carshons, Carshons!

It's been in FW 80 years. Great matzoh ball soup and thick corned-beef or pastrami sandwiches.

Lunch only Mon-Sat. But worth the trip, if only for the chocolate meringue pie.

Tasty mid-range in Ft. Worth?

Jack's? Ewwwww.

What do you mean by offbeat?

Interesting food? Try Byblos Lebanese on North Main.

Off-the-beaten-path? Go to Drew's Place on Horne south of Camp Bowie for catfish, or Mi Cocinita in a family's backyard for tamales and tacos (lunch only Wed-Fri)

Best BEEF ribs in Dallas (BBQ)?

Guys, I don't think Angelos has ever had *beef* ribs. And I don't remember seeing them at Sonny Bryan's.

White queso in DFW area

Benitos's has queso blanco flameado - if that's what you meant.

As I recall, La Familia's queso is white.

Birthday dinner in Dallas/Ft. Worth

First night -- Drinks at Byblos Lebanese, watch the bellydancer, then Lonesome Dove for dinner.

Second night -- Reata dinner (maybe the rooftop). Then go to a downtown concert at Bass Hall or Ovation jazz club on Camp Bowie.

best bbq near fort worth

Nobody has said it yet, so I'll go ahead--

If you're a BBQ fanatic, nothing in DFW is as good as in Central Texas.

Generally, the Railhead has excellent ribs and Angelo's has the best brisket. There's also a place down south named Cousin's with very nice brisket.

No place else comes close, although the North Main $12 buffet is a good deal.

Sushi in Fort Worth

If you like the Miami style with lots of sauces, go to Piranha downtown or Edohana on Hulen.

For basic sushi rolls, I like Japanese Palace, a hibachi steakhouse on the westside.

None are as good as Dallas restaurants.

Birthday dinner in Dallas/Ft. Worth

Not enough specifics. Age of group? What do you consider "fun"? What are your favorite restaurants?

Plenty of folks go to Joe T. Garcia's and pound margaritas for a "fun" birthday.

Others go drink beer and dance German polka at Edelweiss.

Impressive Dallas restaurant for a group of 15

Can you be more specific about what you like, or give examples?

I agree that the two suggestions above are pretty basic grills.

Even the Bistro N at Nordstrom is more interesting -- it's a nicer cafe and wine bistro inside the department store. Great menu.

Dallas food & other info?

There's a place right by UT-Southwestern called Escondido.

Tiny little Tex-Mex hole-in-the-wall on Butler Street. Great stuff.

Downtown Ft Worth... Good Food!

Those great BBQ places are 200 miles south.

But there's two decent BBQ places about 2 miles west of downtown: Railhead Smokehouse on I-30 at Montgomery, or Angelo's behind Montgomery Plaza on White Settlement Road.

Riscky's BBQ downtown is passable at best.

Agree with the other recs above.

Smorgasbord/Cafeterias-Dallas

No cafeteria on earth is better than the Casa Linda Cafeteria in Dallas.

It's full of good home cooking. Also, there's a Sunday roadhouse buffet west of Fort Worth, Vance Godbey's Restaurant, with filet mignon, BBQ, catfish and southern veggies.
