Restaurant "Har Gow" on Danforth
Just to clarify, the chef is a dim sum chef. They do not use frozen dim sum, he makes everything. We think it is better than bamboo and cheaper.
Three Nights. I hate gambling so I want to eat!
We have a reservation at Lotus of Siam. What should we order? (Sadly, husband doesn't eat beef/pork)
Three Nights. I hate gambling so I want to eat!
I hear you about brunch. It's just the idea of rolling out of bed, eating a lot and then rolling back into bed is very tempting! So excited about El Gordo Taco! Thank you for the suggestion.
How about the find dining scene? Bouchon? Le Cirque? Is it worth it?
Three Nights. I hate gambling so I want to eat!
We have Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. I am a lifestyle/food writer and will be likely writing up my stay. (Yey for deductions but no free meals). We are staying at the Wynn.
I am determined to go to Lotus of Siam (dinner? or lunch?) and the Wynn for brunch (might as well).
But open the other two nights.
My husband loves oysters, po-boys, lobster rolls, he loves Joe's Stone Crab but I think it is all hype: any suggestions for casual lunch or dinner or apps at an oyster bar?
I am considering also: Sage, Jaleo and/or another seafood restaurant.
We don't mind spending on meals, but not every meal can be ridiculously expensive. And if we brunch at the Wynn, we probably want a light dinner that night. (Well my husband does)
I arrive at 10pm on Thursday (1 am for me) and I will be hungry anything quick and easy at the Wynn?
Thanks for your help!

Family Friendly Eats in Barcelona
Aleta,
I just tripped acrosss the review of your trip and it was very useful. Sadly, I will be skipping the fancier restaurants but it sounded like a great vacation! And guess what? I'm from Toronto too. ;)
Family Friendly Eats in Barcelona
Thanks Aleta! We will still be getting used to the time difference so eating late won't be a problem (and I have a giant cross your fingers on that one.) One day I hope to be back in Barcelona without kids so I can do some serious eating as well. I find that when traveling en famille it is best to pretend the better places don't even exist.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out! and feel free to send your sausage jokes along...
Family Friendly Eats in Barcelona
We are traveling with the kids, aged 11, 8 and 5 to Barcelona for three nights. I am looking for family-friendly and delicious restos in Barcelona. We are staying in the Ramblas. I will be writing about the trip so I need to have a couple solid places to eat. Thx!
Date Night - Help?
I agree with Negroni, but also Weezie's on King East is a good, casual resto with a good burger. Table 17 on Queen East is good too.
Coloured chipits for cookies - where to buy
All The Best Breads has the actual chips that they use in the little chippers in little bags (overpriced -- but that's what you do for love) somewhere in the trailer, I mean, store.
Unique Toronto Breakfast Recs.
Love Morning Glory on King East. Breakfast Buddy Sandwich with homemade ketchup and ailoli. Great coffee. And they need some love now that Gilead opened practically next door (love it too, though).
ISO: Hard Candy / Lollipop Making Supplies in Toronto
Try Bulk Barn (I always go to the one at Leslie and Lakeshore). I know they have chocolae molds and i think they may have lollipop as well....
dinner out while 'cleansing'
i would go to relish at woodbine -- they have a celiac menu so that's no gluten and lots of veggie stuff.
Mildred's temple kitchen?
Is Mildred's Temple Kitchen open yet? Has anyone been? And while I am on the topic: anyone been to Oasi?
Toronto's Best Steak Frites
I have to say that Scaramouch pasta bar has the best steak frites. Counter-intuitive I know, but honestly delicious and very addictive frites in the sauce (even my veggie husband couldjn' keep his hands off them).
Looking for an AWESOME pastry shop
Frangipane is the best desserts in the city, bar none. (on Dupont at St George) Though, to be honest their signature desserts (frangipane) are not my favourites. Though, it isn't what you are looking for the lemon poppyseed with cream cheese icing and lemon curd is awesome!
Does anyone have the scoop on Table 17, Queen East
It is the chef and former owner of Izakaya, they are opening a wine bar/bistro, I think it will be two floors. I think they plan to have wine tastings etc.
Question: is the Pic/Nic across the floor the same Picnic on Yonge street?
Perigee or C5 or George for 10th?
Love Scaramouche and I totally agree with you, it is the special place in the city and the place we usually go to for special occasions. But we are just at the "pasta bar" (who orders pasta there? Best steak frites in city) so we thought we would branch out.
Perigee or C5 or George for 10th?
Serious Foodies looking ro 10th anniversary dinner. Been to George once, love the atmosphere, love Ted Corrado at C5 but concerned about the institutional experience and wondering about the new chef at Perigee. Thoughts??
Globe Bistro for Lunch . . . hmmm . . .
We had dinner there this week and although the food was very good, and thank goodness all vestiges of foam were gone, the service was very amateur!
Organic Butcher on Danforth - new!
It's a satellite from the "The Butchers" which is across from Sporting Life on Yonge street. It's ok, I have not been wowed in the past. I will still make the drive to Cumbrae's (Or get it at Big Carrot) for special meals and Rowe Farms on Queen E. so I have an excuse to go to Mercury Espresso Bar.
Cheesy Weekend in Charlevoix
My hubby and I are celebrating our anniversary in Charlevoix, we are staying at the Fairmont and are looking to eat and sleep the whole time. We are mildly cheese-obsessed (if one can be mildly obsessed) and are looking for some amazing epicurean experiences! Any suggestions of where to eat, visit and tour would be appreciated.
Meating?
Meating is gone, it is now Picnic, which I would skip. In fact that whole Yonge and Eg strip is pretty forgettable. Scaramouche Pasta Bar has great steak frites can be good for the adventourous and the non-adventurous. If you are trying to stay in the Yonge and Eg area, go a little south and there are tons of places. How about Quince and I really like Mirabelle next door too. They have Frenchified comfort food. Coquine has a fun atmosphere and my friends love it, although I find the food forgettable.
Berkeley Church -- what's the food like?
We went to a party there and I have to admit the food was very average. They aimed high and it tasted fine but nothing spectacular, in fact I can't even remember what i had which is a very BAD sign. The catering was done in house.
It's an interesting place for an event, but needs a lot of upgrades for decor. And the washrooms are very far from the main dining room which is difficult if you are having anyone who is older and has trouble with stairs.
Restaurant for 40th Birthday w/private room
We are trying to remember that we are not getting too old and are looking for a restuarant where we can take over the whole thing, or have a private room for dinner for about 40 people. After dinner we would like to clear away the tables and dance the night away to pathetic 80s music. Has to be downtown and have a funky vibe.
