Pizzeria Mozza, Newport Beach - has anyone been?
I recommend you give Settebello in Pasadena a try. VPN certified and the margherita d.o.c pizza is one of the best.
Which high end places (twist, la atelier,etc...) have a bar menu?
I am interested in Guy Savoy Bubble Bar since reading about it several years ago. I recall 4 small bites for $40 on that menu. However, the champagne by the glass prices scared me off! Has anyone been recently to confirm if bar food menu is still offered?
I have never, ever, had a bad meal at ____________and I have eaten there over a dozen times!
Food was inventive and solid as usual, but pacing was a bit off. Understandable for night 1 of the pop-up due to different setting, space (double of Starry Kitchen), kitchen, staff. Glad I was in the 1st seating because the later arrivals did not get food until 9:30p. Sadly, cheese cart did not make an appearance this week. Favorites for me were the 2nd and 4th courses, market vegetables with halibut cheeks and lamb composition (kidney not for the faint of heart!). New menu here:

20th Wedding Anniversary - Need recs for something truly special.
You didn't mention if you've ever been to Urasawa, that would be my suggestion. Melisse with special pre-arrangement (for true carte blanche) is another idea. Although Providence was nixed, it does have a chef's table with view to kitchen and may request to go beyond the regular chef's tasting. Same for Patina.
Sushi In OC: Found! Kasen.
Your chu-toro looks divine, uniform color throughout. I hate it when I'm served toro with pink/white striping/sinews(ruins any piece of sushi for me), most recently at Kiriko. I'm also in the camp that prefers chu- over o-toro.
last minute fancy Friday
Don't know how many people in your party but you can choose seating at the mozza bar/counter, which is for walk-in's. The amaro bar (wine/liquor) is also for walk-in's but you don't get the show (Nancy Silverton at work), plus it can get uncomfortably crowded.
I have never, ever, had a bad meal at ____________and I have eaten there over a dozen times!
I want to love Dog Haus since the locations are close to me but every meal disappoints because of comparison to my gold standard Wurstkuche. From the sausages, toppings, beer selection, Wurstkuche wins hands down. Now if I can only get the DJ to turn it down a notch…
I have never, ever, had a bad meal at ____________and I have eaten there over a dozen times!
Same here, LQ@SK was my go to dinner that I could always count on for creative and tasty food. The 5-course + cheese are a steal at those prices. I look forward to a continuation at his pop-up next at Good Girl Dinette (going Mon!).
I have never, ever, had a bad meal at ____________and I have eaten there over a dozen times!
I knew that pick would get flamed but I honestly enjoy Souplantation for what it is, cost considered of course.
Tasting Menus: Mandatory Participation of Whole Table?
Perhaps you were dining with a large group? That's when I often see a set menu because the kitchen needs to be able to put food out simultaneously for the table.

Luscious Dumplings
Sea Harbour dimsum
Souplantation
Best Steakhouse in LV for Steak Enthusiasist - In Town 5/3 - 5/4
Carnevino at Palazzo. Riserva steak for intensely dry-aged flavor, 180 days, an experience for sure. If they're out (not always available), BBL 60-day is awesome too. There's a beef tasting menu offered, perfect if you're dining alone. Can't go wrong at Carnevino if you're looking for steaks.
Shunji is quite the genious, a great chef/cook
I had a great meal there several weeks ago. We had mostly similar items but I was slightly surprised by the bill. My omakase consisted of 9 courses of cooked dishes for $80, plus $40 supplement for 6 orders (2 pieces) of sushi. Had to try some nigiri after the positive reviews here, and this was after the waitress abruptly told me after the final cooked dish that this was the end of the omakase. I was expecting sashimi/sushi included based on other reports but I guess it's variable by day/customer?
Loud and louder restos: Maybe I'm getting old, but...
Was at Pizzeria Mozza L.A on Sun for lunch, wasn't bothered by the noise level. In fact, I don't recall sound being an issue.
Side note, the new pizzas featuring tomatoes from DiNapoli/Bianco (yes, Chris Bianco of Pizzeria Bianco fame) are fantastically delicious. I'm not crazy about the $20 tariff but the pie was terrific.
Thanks for advice, restaurant itinerary booked
FYI, at Sage there's also a chef's tasting 6-course option for $120. Here's a sample menu

SetteBello in Pasadena
love the margherita d.o.c (w/ premium mozza) at settebello! one of the best neapolitan style pizzas in town.
their dessert pie with nutella and banana is fantastic as well, enough for 2 to share.
Chef's Table
Not exactly a chef's table but rather a kitchen bar/counter with view of the food prep.
Tasting Menus: Mandatory Participation of Whole Table?
I was inquiring into this myself recently for an upcoming trip as well. There are no requirements for full table participation when ordering tasting menus. You can mix and match ordering a la carte and prix-fixe menus too. Las Vegas fine dining is very lenient when it comes to these situations, a plus in my mind.
Last minute request for fine dining with seafood or vegetarian options for tomorrow night
Providence comes to mind immediately.
Fantasize No More. LQ's Legendary Cheese Cart is Back!
The patio has heaters but they can not be used. The restaurant got in trouble in the past for using these portable gas heaters. I've only seen people sitting outside 1 time and that was months ago when the weather was warm.
best cheese offering? carts or cheese tasting?
Providence offers cheese cart service for $7 per selection. Here's the info from restaurant:

Monday through Thursday at 6:00pm or 10:00pm
Friday and Saturday 10:00pm only

WHITE TRUFFLE TASTING MENUS - 2011/2012
Response from Providence to my inquiry about a truffle tasting:
Chef Cimarusti is offering a 6-course White Truffle Menu Spontanee for $275.00 per person (exclusive of tax, beverages and gratuity). A recent menu included Scallop Sashimi, Grilled Santa Barbara Spot Prawns, Soft Scrambled Egg, Pasta alla Chitarra, and Grilled Halibut, all with shaved white truffle. WHITE TRUFFLE TASTING MENUS - 2011/2012
I just called Valentino and spoke to Piero. It is $200 with wine pairing, great deal indeed! He mentioned it's going to be on Wed 12/7, but didn't sound certain at the time. He recommended I call back tomorrow to discuss and reserve with Giuseppe.
WHITE TRUFFLE TASTING MENUS - 2011/2012
I stopped in LQ @ SK on Sunday just for the awesome cheese cart. Not sure about accuracy of this info, but the cheese lady told me it's going to be $350 with only 20 seats. At that price, it does seem excessive to me too, albeit 18 courses.
Patina Alumni Dinner

The line-up is impressive, to say the least. I had no idea the caliber of chefs that went through the place over the years. I'm on the wait list. Who's going?
Group of 6 for an early dinner on Sunday night and maybe Monday breakfast - Need recs
Sage at Aria highly recommended.
Carnevino at Palazzo or B&B at Venetian, for steak and Italian. Both by Batali and the latter is different enough from Osteria Mozza.
Jaleo at Cosmopolitan is a solid pick, and I hear the paella is fantastic, but it's similar to Bazaar.
Another option for traditional tapas and paella, there's Serrano at Aria.
Suggestions for breakfast:
Mozen in Mandarin Oriental
Verandah at Four Seasons
Bouchon at Venetian
Tableau at Wynn
Vegas veteran (sort of), need dinner to complement Raku and CarneVino
china poblano as well
also recommend sage and serrano at aria
