Name it and why. I don't want any marinated just pure melt in your mouth goodness. Cholesterol be damned. This is a one time shot. Thanks

Long Island/Queens diners?

Point of information; only subscribers to Newsday or Optimum on line can access their website. Second, i used to think the Premier diner was good until I ordered a chicken pot pie which was totally flour with nil amount of chicken. Stay away from this item.

Southern Italian in Nassau County

Scunge, I just love bucatelli or percarelli pasta. To my non Italian mind, they are both one and the same, and delicious. if I am in error about their identity, please correct me. The only restaurant I know that serves them is in a shopping center in Warwick, RI. Fairway used to carry them in Plainview, but I don't know of any other store that does.

Imperial Palace / East Lake Seafood Restaurant – My Favorite Chinese Restaurant in New York

Thanks for your superb explanation. I did believe , however, that East Lake was originally on Main St at the corner of Maple St, in a former diner that has long been torn down. I used to go there for dimsum and they were among Flushing's best. I don't know whether the new East Lake at the corner of Prince and 37th Ave is the new incarnation of the original.

non-pork soup dumplings

A visit to Joe's Shanghai website verifies that no all crabmeat soup dumplings are offered. I believe, that is also true of the Nan Xiang restaurant on Prince St. Sorry to dash your hopes.

GOOD UPSCALE CHINESE IN FLUSHING?

Imperial Palace, next to Joe's Shanghai would suit their tastes, so would Mulan in the Queens Crossing Building across from Jade Asian.

Grand Restaurant in New World Mall

The restaurant is gorgeous. The walls and floors are marble as well as are the bathrooms. The four person tables are tablecloth covered and dimsum is served from the traditiional carts. The waiters are curteous as are the waitresses. The manager was wonderful; courteous, helpful and gave these non Asians free desserts of custard pudding cups that were delicious. Now here's the rub: the dimsum were a little different My table of three sampled half a dozen of them and some were a little off. The shrimp wrapped in rice flour was closest to traditional, but it had a taste of specks of fried scallions along with the shrimp which gave the dish an unusual aspect; not welcome to my taste. The sticky rice, too, was different. It conained larger bits of beef and nuts . The others were closer to traditional and were acceptable if not quite up to taste. Was it the chef's crearivity in preparation, I can't say, but the food did not reach the standards of Jade Asian or Ocean Jewels
or whatever its name is now) I invite other posters' opinions, because I feel bad writing these words.

Choose My Lunch: Driving from NJ to JFK airport and need an earlyish solo lunch

Since you identify yourself as "dimsumfan," I suggest Jade Asian on 37th Ave, 1 block east of Main St, right across from the parking lot. You can also try the newly opened Grand Restaurant for dim sum on Roosevelt Ave and Main St in the New World Mall. I haven't been to the latter, but Jade Asian won't disappoint.

Soup dumplings wherever they are served. (Trader Joe's, Nan Xian et al) is one of my favorites. Clams with black bean sauce (Jade Asian for one). Hot and sour soup (Spicy and Tasty and others) are two more

Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao – There is More Than The Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings)

Twice, we tried to get into this restaurant about noon and both doors were shut. There were staff sitting at tables near the window and they motioned us off the second time. We ate next door at Canton Gourmet and as we were leaving yesterday(Wed) the manwho seemed to be proprietor of Canton Gourmet was unlocking one of the doors to Nan Xian. Anyone know anything about this.

Check out La Pizzette. It's on 110 , the new building south of the mall on the east side of the road. Prices are moderate, in line with the area.

Parking for Coal's

Finally made it to Coal's. Found parking on the street a few blocks away after much circling. There is a sign on the door telling patrons to ask the waitress for parking assistance. We did and she directed us to the Chase Bank lot in the back which warns of ticketing. Was all this delay worth it? I would say not.
I was lured by the NYTimes article of a few years back extolling the virtues of the pizza. I can't agree. The crust was like soft matzoh with good tomato sauce and fresh mozzeralla which was also good. Together they made for an unusual pie which was passable.
The restaurant, which pushed wine more than the pizza was crowded at lunchtime, had one waitress who scurried among the twenty or so tables. My co diner liked it. I have my reservations (no pun intended.)

The new Patricia's on Morris Park Ave

After taking over the store next door, Patricia's has transformed itself into a new upscale version that, I believe, has suffered a loss of soul. Gone are the daily specials and the large choice menu. In its stead is a more limited hard covered version with fewer choices and everything is ala carte. The potato dumpling used to be served with lunch specials on the same plate as the main course. Now it comes in a high sided saucer which makes it difficult to cut. Prices appear to be the same or higher with a bottle of Corona priced at $7.00. Strangely enough the crowd is still there. The room is lovely. Brick walls and tuxedoed white shirted waiters are part of the transformation. The glass allows a peak into the kitchen where I saw someone tossing pizza dough although it wasn't on the menu.

best pizza on long island???

Huntington pizza is hit or miss, Among those I like are Paesano,NY Pizza (for a cheap slice), Di Raomo. The second ,lower tier consists of Vincent's, Southdown, My preferences run to a thicker, bubbly crust, more ceese than sauce and god forbid, an oft tasting sweet sauce al a Giardino on Park Ave or Costco's

Peking duck in Flushing

Looking for a place that serves real Peking duck in Flushing. I know of the slices at Corner 28, but I'm in search of the whole show for a group. If they still use a bicycle pump to separate the skin from the flesh, that's a plus.

Ramen

Thanks, I didn't really know there was a difference.

Ramen

The best and only place I know of is the Japanese restaurant on the southwest corner of Union St and Northern Blvd in Flushing. I generally order the ramen with shrimp tempura. Not about to do an analysis of the broth but it a thoroughly satisfying lunch. Much better than the dishwater they serve at many Japanese restaurants on the island.

Christmas Day in Flushing

You don't mention whether you prefer lightly seasoned or strong flavored foods. IP and CG are both definitely good or better in the Cantonese(light flavor) category and Hunan House (sichuan) is equally good in the strong flavored genre.
