A nice restaurant near Sheraton Centre (123 Queen St. W.) for 20 people please
Just an update: We finally went with George (at the front area) instead of Carisma. I went for site inspection and felt that the space at Carisma could be tight for our group and the noise level is also higher. Also, George is closer to Sheraton. Carisma would be an option for a less fomal occassion. Thanks everyone!

Also, a colleague said that she likes Turf Lounge, while another said that he doesn't. Do you think Turf Lounge a good option?

George's private dining room is not available at our planned date. I gave my manager this afternoon the options of Lee (private dining room), George/Lucien/Carisma (all semi-private area), and the name of Ruth's and Hy's (both steakhouses are within 4-minute walk from Sheraton), my manager said to go with Carisma. Would you all agree with Carisma? I checked the reviews and it seems that most are keen on Carisma's food/service and some don't like its dessert and decoration. Is that so? Would Carisma be a good choice?

Thank you all for your recommendations! I won't consider Reds this time as my managers (all Partners) have been there recently. Among George and Turf Lounge, where likely have the rooms that we need, which one would you prefer? The reviews on Stock is not so good, would you not to consider it at all? If sitting at an open area of a restaurant, which one would you prefer - Nota Bene, Blowfish, Colbourne Lane, Lucien, Bravi? Could Starfish be an option too?

I checked Nota Bene. However, their private room is not available at the date that we want. However, do you think that it could be a candidate? Also, Blowfish at 333 Bay doesn't have private room available. Could it also be a candidate? Are there more?

My manager asked me to find a restaurant near Sheraton Centre that “can hold 20, ideally (not required) private room, great food, and can walk to. And it’s a bonus if can add new/trendy.” Your recommendations please. Many thanks!
Dim Sum at Emperor or Casa Victoria? Dim Sum or lunch at Casa Victoria?
Great to know! Thank you!
Dim Sum at Emperor or Casa Victoria? Dim Sum or lunch at Casa Victoria?
Thank you both! We'll go for Casa Victoria this time, then try Emperor and Dragon Dynasty next. ;-)
Dim Sum at Emperor or Casa Victoria? Dim Sum or lunch at Casa Victoria?
At least 15 of us are going out for dim sum or lunch at 11am or 11:30am on a Saturday and I'm the one who's asked to pick a venue. I've had dinner, but not dim sum at Emperor. I've never been to Casa Victoria. And I always want to try something and somewhere now. Would you recommend dim sum at Emperor, dim sum at Casa Victoria, or lunch at Casa Victoria? Also, other than these 2 places, do you have anywhere else to recommend? Many thanks!
FYI - This time, I don't consider O'Mei, Yang's, John's BBQ, Casa Imperial, Crown Prince, Judy's Restaurant, Brilliant.

Thanks! I know that they serve complimentary dessert on different days, items such as red bean soup, green bean soup, purple rice soup, etc. I like them all. ;-)

Hey, I'm a person who can't eat much hot and spicy food though I sometimes have the craving to try one or 2 hot and spicy food just to wake up my sleepy stomach. Or sometimes I order the spicy dishes to be not spicy (for some dishes, "not to add hot pepper" is doable). ;-) I dared to order dandan noodle from Szechuan Legend Restaurant once and Asian Legend once. I wasn't able to finish the one from Szechuan Legend Restaurant as it's too hot for my body to take it. I finished the one from Asian Legend. However, my other Chinese friends said that the dandan noodle from Asian Legend is not real dandan noodle. They said that the dandan noodle at Szechuan restaurants such as Ba Shu Ren Jia and Szechuan Legend Restaurant are better.

I actually don't have a specific person in mind in this case. When my supervisor asked me to gather "creative" gift ideas last week, the creative gift idea sample that he gave is that our colleague in Calgary once ordered luxurious breakfast to a stafff who just had little baby at home. I therefore thought about asking whether we could find the same kind of service in GTA. Maybe I could find out what exactly our Calgary colleague ordered first?
The budget that my supervisor goes with these type of occasions are $50-$200.
A delectable and satisfying family dinner at 'Yang's'!
Do you always bring wine to Chinese restaurant? $180 certainly doesn't include wine, does it? ;-)
I've only tried dim sum at Yang's and will definitely go for dinner sometime soon.
My husband, my little one and I often dine out. The problem is that you can't try a lot of dishes as a group of 2.5. It's better to go with a bigger group.
Phew!!!!! FYI, 'Brilliant' is still AOK!!!!
Thank you for your recommendation! We went to Brilliant for "Peking Duck two ways" this noon. It is indeed delicious. The only downside is that the complimentary soup and dessert are available and offered for dinner only. ;-)

I saw http://mamaluv.com/en/ introduction from http://www.toronto.com/article/700216--10-head-start-holiday-gift-ideas?gid=699620 today. It looks like a good idea and I might try it myself someday.
The new parents
The holiday season can be hectic, especially with a new little one. Give new parents the gift of free time now or in the New Year with hassle-free pre-made dinners. You choose a one-to-seven day tailor-made catered package (or a long-term package) and have gourmet meals prepared in advance and dropped off to be enjoyed any time. Deluxe packages include the addition of soups and desserts. For the time-starved, it’s an idea that’s as delicious as it is practical. (Two-day Deluxe Package, $118, Mamaluv.com)

Food gift ideas for Christmas please
I'm asked to think of Christmas gift ideas for the clients. Any recommendations?
Wine:
Are there any agents which sell the wines that you don't usually get from LCBO?
Cheese:
Which company offers the best cheeses and also does delivery?

For northern style breakfast, you could get some from Asian Legend. However, Asian Legend won't open until 10am, 10:30am, or 11am depending on which location and day you go.

Mantou (steamed bun) is servied at Dumpling King, Asian Legand (their bun tends to be sweet if I don't remember wrong) and Shanxi Legend.
Mifan is not cornmeal porridge, but refers to cooked/steamed rice. Cornmeal porridge is yumi zhou or yumi huhu. Yumi is corn.

"Finally, I absolutely loved breakfast in China, and my favourite breakfast was xifan (rice porridge) with pickled greens and veggies (including something pale and crunchy -- daikon????) and half of a salted duck egg crumbled into it." --- I think that Chaozhou/Chiu Chow style congee will meet your needs.
