Sandwich Suggestions - Sacramento

Best Sandwiches, hands down , can be found at Fog Mtn. Cafe at 10th and I street. And you must , must try one of their famous soups while you are there too. All freshly roasted meats, creative touches and obviously made with skill and love.

Monterey

Robin-I concur with all of the posts-Pacific Grove is a treasure trove of great little restaurants. Passionfish, Red House Cafe, Big Night Bistro (Italian), Melange (see their website), and give the newer Primo a try too. Quintessential P.G. charm all the way around!

Pasta Mia in Monterey?

Pasta Mia has gone to the big restaurant cemetary in the sky. Primo is the name of the new place. Open about 3 months now , they serve small plates, have a wine bar, great comfy lounge and the same charming atmosphere. Lots of good 'buzz' about this place out on the street. Maybe you should give it a whirl?

Recommendations in Monterey/Carmel

For lunch near the aquarium, try Bistro Moulin. It is one block above the aquarium, has a great little menu, friendly servers and chowhound worthy food prepared by the chef/owner Didier, who used to be the chef at Casanova's in Carmel for over 20 years.

For dinner in Carmel...hmm...daGiovannis is very reliable Meditteranean fare, the Carmel Chop House for carnivores, Grasing's or Flaherty's for seafood.

Headed to Mtry. during the holidays. Heard about an Italian place called LaGiostra (sp?). Can anyone out there tell me about it? Thanks!

Chocolatier in Sacramento [Moved from San Francisco Bay Area board]

My favorite at Fog Mtn was their grilled cheese with garlic and herbs on ciabatta (sp?). They served it with some sort of vinegar/olive oil dipping sauce. That sandwich and the roasted tomato soup was the bomb.

Chocolatier in Sacramento [Moved from San Francisco Bay Area board]

Bingo! The place you were looking for was Fog Mtn. Candy. The good news is that they are going to be opening their new cafe on 10th and L in a couple of months. I think they are giong to call it Fog Mountain Cafe ? I can't wait for the return of the chefs' great soups and sandwiches.
