Do most folks cook the matzoh balls in water or broth?

Can you grind matzoh meal to make it cake meal consistency?

PESTO Bitter/Strong

I just made a few batches of pesto that are stronger and lil bitter....I know the flavors must marry a day or two....but i am wondering if there is something i can do to mellow it a bit. Has this ever happened to you?

Cucumber Apple Slaw' recipe needed!

I am making pork shoulder burritos and want to top them with apple cucumber slaw (no cabbage, maybe add celery)...
anyone have a good recipe....
i would prefer an apple cider vinegar based recipe but would consider mayo or sour cream
these burritos will sit out a good hour while people serve themselves

ultimate roastbeef kelly or kings?

Kelly's RB just tasted better peter's Superbeef. ...the meat had more flavor...better buttered grilled bun....interested in trying beachmont captain's Pizza and nicks before i go home. One thing that got in the way was learning about Popo's chili cheese dog...I went twice this week...and that affected my a great dog!

The clam chowder at Kelly's is awesome..... How can you complain about a chowder loaded with clams...more than bring some back with me to stick in the freezer! I did not like the chowder at Atlantic Sea Coast...any other suggestions...while im here?

The Main Maine goal HELP!

I just found out i will be spending the next 5 days in Kittery Point Maine!

I don't have a lot of time to research as i must pack my bags....but just want to confirm the info i reviewed thus far. Bob's Clam Hut and Chauncey Creek Lobster seem to be the most authentic no frills- for steamed lobster and clams....(that is the main(maine) goal for me. perhaps warren's for some clams? they sure sound nice.

Anneje Jans and Cape Neddicks for drinks and some food at the bar.....more upscale as is mcperkins cove....

It will be a beautiful weekend....we want to drink some good beers (SEA DOG PORTER!!/good bloody mary's and have some great chowda and clams and lobster.....oh it sounds dreamy!
help with :

best chowda
best lobster
best steamers
best fish market

I am making matzoh ball soup with leeks. I love the recipe but i decided to buy multigrain matzoh meal versus the regular stuff this year...out of respect of being healthier......Thoughts /suggestions? Does it taste better?

Is there a major difference?

I'm trying to decide if i should return and just buy what i know is good!

I have lumpfish roe caviar that i plan on using with cream fraiche ....never had that tho before...I usually use salmon there a big difference? any recommendation on what caviar you use with your latkes?

Veal Meatballs

Does anyone have a recipe for homemade veal meatballs

I am thinking of making little veal meatballs...perhaps with a touch of chicken livers....fresh garlic and shallots, some shredded parm added as well, some thyme maybe?
should i add some flour, breadcrumbs, eggs?

and then cook em' down with my summer plum tomotoes, perhaps some balsamic vinegar added to tomotoes as it reduces down.....

and help appreciated.

pesto pine nuts or walnuts?

this pesto recipe worked mom use to freeze them in ice cube trays and they would pop right out...i had a problem with freezing them. My mother is no longer around to ask ;( perhaps someone could shed some light?

2 cups fresh basil leaves
1 cup fresh Italian parsley leaves
1/2 cup grated Parmesan or Romano
1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted
4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup olive oil

Soup Dumplings/ Joe's

Taking my family to Chinatown this week to experience the pork/crab soup dumplings......

I love Joe's.....but i am not crazy about the other dishes..... Is there any other restaurant down in CTown that serves great soup dumplings and offers better entrees? We would really like to have some peking duck as well/ Perhaps we have to just go to a few restaurants....?

teenagers coming to town-help

My sister and my teenage newphews are coming to town for a visit......
I need a few restaurant suggestions....the kids like steak and pasta.....
and they have eaten in some pretty fine restaurants....but they are still kids...
They are staying in times square....and the want to stay close.....
Ill take them to the places below.... but if you have additional ones i would
appreciate as i want to be the "kewl" aunt.

Thanks, I reviewed that already. I should be more clear. They are well behaved children, looking for fun culiarnary experiences.

The will most likely go to Artisanal....for fondue unless i can find a better option.

Or perhaps Korean Town so they can cook their own food.
