Actually, it is technically in Dallas.

Dallas: Arroz con Pollo
Thanks, air. I love Inca's, particularly the empanadas and the cabrito. I'm glad to see more Central and South American places opening up around here. Also in Carrollton is El Fogon which is Ecuadoran. The ceviche is excellent.
Dallas: Arroz con Pollo
Guys, I'm still interested in finding Arroz Con Pollo in Dallas, especially the northern suburbs. Either Spanish or Latin American. LH was going to check his menus, but never replied back. I just need names of a couple of good places, and preferably not Carribean Cafe or Zaguan. Thanks!
Dallas: Arroz con Pollo
Both, LH. Thanks for asking. Speaking of which, I live close to Lewisville, although I would certainly be willing to travel a bit.
Dallas: Arroz con Pollo
Guys, I'm interested in finding arroz con pollo in Dallas or the northern suburbs. I'm already aware of Carribean Cafe and Zaguan. Can you tell me of any other places? Thanks!
Great Mexican (not TexMex) in Dallas
Thanks, LH. I'm always on the lookout for good empanadas, and I've heard good things about El Portal. Also, the Carnitas Tacos at Tacos Plus near Belt Line and Webb Chapel are worth a look as well. I also want to try the Ropa Vieja at Carribean Cafe soon, even if I don't cotton to the idea of eating old clothes (that's the literal translation of "ropa vieja").
Great Mexican (not TexMex) in Dallas
Guys, to take this discussion a little farther South of the border, don't forget that the Carrollton/Addison/North Dallas axis is quietly becoming a hotbed of Central and South American cuisine. Two suggestions: Secco de Cabrito at Inca's Cafe and Ceviche Ecuatoriana at El Fogon. If you guys know of any other places and dishes to try in this area, please let me know.
What is on your Superbowl Menu?
In the last couple of years, we've taken pains to move beyond the chips and dip, wings and pizza which is our normal Super Bowl repast. Last year, it was sushi. This year, we're going Greek: Lamb souvlaki and gyros, broiled sausage, pastiso, and Greek potatoes. Hummus to start, baklava to finish. Washed down with wine and lots of it. OPA!
Thanksgiving dinner: What is your LEAST favorite menu item that you can't get rid of?
Thanks, givemecarbs. Why get stressed out? Go ahead and have it catered. That way you can focus on fun, wine, football, and family. Have a blast!!
Thanksgiving dinner: What is your LEAST favorite menu item that you can't get rid of?
Guys, I think most of us are saying the same thing here. Traditional Thanksgiving feast or not, please if you're hosting a spread, TAKE THE TIME AND ENERGY TO DO IT RIGHT!!! Buy good ingredients and prepare them well. If it's too much time, effort, and money, or you're cooking for too many people, then turn it into a potluck. Coordinate with everyone and see what they can bring. Don't have the time to fix a dish? Bring wine, money, ice, anything. Or bring yourself, if you will pitch in and help. Those that don't participate but show up to eat, don't invite them back next year. You can also just go out or bring in a prepared spread from a good restaurant.
Something else: Don't invite everybody if you can't get along with everybody. Thanksgiving should be a fun festival of celebration. Don't make the day miserable by insisting that "everyone must be included." It should be enjoyable for all. If someone comes ready to pick a fight, don't invite them back. They will only bring it down for everyone.
Best texas food in Dallas DFW area?
Spike, it doesn't really matter what part of the Metroplex you're visiting, you must consider a trip to Babe's Chicken Dinner House for authentic Texas food and atmosphere. Here's the link:

What foods are a MUST for Thanksgiving?
Here are my Musts:
-There Must be some sort of communal dinner, of at least four people.
-Someone else Must do most, if not all the preparation (we're happy to contribute a dish or three.)
-Wine Must be poured. After all, the occasion Must be fun, shouldn't it? Otherwise, why bother?
-Football Must be watched. Not necessarily during the dinner itself, but at some point. Again, it helps you put up with relatives you don't like or may not have much in common with.
-Wine Must be poured. (You said wine twice. I like wine.)
Best Fajitas in Dallas?
Hounds, I need your help. Like most Texans, I'm very familiar with Tex-Mex. However, I'm now on a quest to find the best fajitas in Dallas. Myself, I don't eat them too often, as I usually prefer to stick with the enchiladas or combo plates. I'm especially interested in Dallas north of LBJ and the northern suburbs, but I will consider recommendations from all over. Any ideas? Thanks!!
Closest & best BBQ - Plano
Yes to Rudy's. Visit without fail. Great BBQ and authentic Texas atmosphere.
Mi Cocina is good, but Mattitos in Frisco is even better. On Main Street, just East of the Tollway.
Generous serving or buffet daily dining values?
Actually, you do live near a Cowboy Chicken. It's on Park just west of the Tollway. Also Mooyah Burger. And Firehouse Subs, Jimmy Johns Subs, Lennys Subs and Red Brick Pizza, all just on that narrow strip of street.
Picassos is even closer to you. Dependable eats, especially the pizza.
Plus, the sweet ladies at Dallas Eats recommend Oliver's Eatery, mere blocks from you.
Best of all, two bloggers live in your area and blog about it all the time!
Donna Chen lives mere blocks from you as well. Check out www.donnacooks.wordpress.com.
My own blog which also covers the area.

Happy Eating!!!
Rainforest Cafe: A chain in decline?
I think most people, particularly those with kids, were entranced by the really neat rainforest special effects. Unfortunately, you have to have really good food to keep the customers coming back.
Lunches in Dallas Next Week
Jasper's in Plano in the Shops at Legacy. The $15 Today's Lunch Special is marvelous and a real bargain for the price!
need lots of hill country recommendations
Surprise, surprise! There's actually a very good locals pizza joint on the town square in Llano called Stonewalls. My wife and I found it one Saturday on a holiday weekend when the line at Coopers was around the block.
Ketchup on Hot Dogs
Here's an idea, people: Eat your hot dog the way YOU like it. Not the way someone tells you to like it.
I agree with rockandroller1 about dill relish. I don't always put it on my dog, but I do prefer it to sweet relish. But that's just me.
Jaspers Revisited
The Daily Business Lunch is a relative bargain at $15---superb meat lasagne!!!
one-hit wonders primed for a comeback
And while you're at it, don't forget Harvey Wallbangers, Cuba Libres, and of course, the best Mai Tais in the world---Trader Vics!! Bracing, not sweet!!!
What happened to Pizzeria Uno?
Deisell, just so everyone understands, I think by CPK you must mean California Pizza Kitchen. Is that right?
one-hit wonders primed for a comeback
Of course, chicken Kiev and chicken cordon bleu. Add to them chicken a la King and chicken tetrazzini. We had an old-school Italian restaurant here in Dallas called Godfathers (no relation to the pizza chain) that made the best chicken tetrazzini!!!
Black's, Lockhart - First Visit
Will gladly second Coopers. Brisket is excellent, but the double cut pork chop and BBQ prime rib are even better. With the prime rib, be aware of the price as you have them slice. (Mine was $17!)
Non-chain Plano/Frisco restaurants?
Mannys Tex-Mex Grill. Very old-school, located in a converted house on Main Street in Frisco. Just down the street from Randys Steakhouse, which is a high-end steakhouse and one of the best kept secrets in the Metroplex!!!
Those crazy French! How do YOU eat your burger?
I agree most with the people on this thread who have said, "It depends on my mood."
Still, there are a few constants:
--Burger must be moist and juicy. That's why I like it medium rare.
--Must be a cheeseburger. I do not understand a burger without cheese.
--Should be accompanied by excellent potato chips or fries. If fries, they should be thin and crispy, as I hate limp fries.
Other than those constants, I appreciate the fact that a good burger can be prepared thousands of different ways, yet still taste good!!!
Do you ever like the crappy better than the excellent?
Listen to Sam, people. I've read many of his posts. He's obviously "spanned the globe to bring you the constant variety of food." (Special thanks to the late, great Jim McKay.)
I think it's a craving thing for many of us. Sometimes only a certain combination of flavors will do. And as Barry Foy so rightly says below, it's much more affordable.
Gregory's, Plano
Great report, auto! Glad to hear Gregory's is still BYOB. Next time, you may wish to try the penne pasta and butternut squash soup with crusty French bread.
