I ate there last night as well. I had the seafood Jambalaya and thought it was delicious, but not sure the sausage addition was worth the extra $5. Someone else got the fried chicken. I ate her drumstick and really liked the tenderness of the meat and the breading - nice flavor. As for desserts, the bourbon pecan pie was definitely worth it, if not the highlight of the meal. |

Thanks for the comments. Personally, i'm all for restaurants that highlight seasonal ingredients, even if it means leaving out tomatoes in the winter, for example. I would rather have a burger without a pasty, mealy imported tomato than with it (not to mention the avoided carbon footprint of transporting it)... and it's a good opportunity to try different twists on old standbys... i presume they made an attempt at a substitution at least? |

Trip report: Bar Crudo, Range, Bong Su Thanks for the great report, and glad you enjoyed your eating adventures in SF. I believe the mexican place you were referring to is Primavera, if it was in the far back of the market. But Rose Pistola/Rose's Cafe is also at the market, located closer to the front. And those delicious Italian donuts are from a stand operated by "I Preferiti di Boriana", and i think they're called bombolonis? I think the stand only operates on Saturday mornings, does anyone know for sure? Mmmm, i'm getting hungry just thinking about them. |

I sat at the bar as well, and i think i would make the same choice next time. The chairs are super comfy (although hard to get in and out of because they are packed in), and the bartenders were very attentive and engaging. I also found the bar menu a little more approachable for most occasions. I loved the burger and fries, the latter being fried in rice bran oil, which i had never heard of. I was also quite taken by the interior of the place. |

Where to buy sustainable seafood in SF? This seems like a no-brainer, but i can't think of where to buy good quality seafood (preferably sustainable harvested) in San Francisco, other than Whole Foods and some other high end grocers. Surely there must be a fish market or the like along the bay somewhere? |

The garlic noodles at Thanh Long in the outer sunset (4101 Judah St.) have a cult following. I've never had garlic noodles anywhere else, but i thought they tasted good (albeit quite greasy). |

It's been there since i started visiting Point Reyes in March (i moved to SF in January), but not sure how long before that. They serve Taylor Maid Farms coffee, which i'm a big fan of, and they're usually playing good music. The guy shown in the photo on their website, Christian, also makes awesome grilled cheese sandwiches at the saturday farmer's market in Point Reyes Station, but that might be seasonal. It's such a great little town. |

I was in Point Reyes last weekend and stopped at the Marshall Store where Hog Island has a great little roadside stand. The half dozen raw oysters i had there were excellent, as was the clam chowder (chock full of clam meat, and the broth was light and not too creamy). You can also purchase excellent Brickmaiden rolls here and they sell beer and wine that you can enjoy at the "barrel bar" outside. Really nice. |
