Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?

That's the thing! The breading is so crisp and crunchy! Other places I've gotten eggplant parm, it's been soggy and not good.

Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?

I went about a month ago with my husband. I hadn't been for probably 5-6 years but remember really liking the eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant parm is still really good. I wonder if anyone else likes it. I hate the pasta that comes with it, though. I wish I could just get a double order of the eggplant. We got fried calamari for a starter and it was so salty. I usually don't have a problem with salt but this was almost inedible. I also don't really like the salad or breadsticks. I didn't remember them being that bad.

I would like to have the eggplant parm like once a month but probably won't go again for a long time.

Could your/ IS your significant other a picky eater?

Mariners/Safeco hot dogs in grocery stores

Thanks, all!

Mariners/Safeco hot dogs in grocery stores

A couple of years ago, you could buy Mariners or Safeco Field hot dogs at QFC. I can't remember which they were called. They were my mom's favorite. Anyone know who made these/where to find them now? Thank you.

Family foods I thought was normal

No, grew up in Seattle. I'll have to ask my mom where she heard of this. She's a mix of English/Irish/Scottish and was born in Idaho but raised in Washington. My dad is German, born and raised in Seattle.

Family foods I thought was normal

We ate that sometimes when I was little. I haven't had it since then, though. But sometimes it sounds good.

Cinnamon chips?

Thank you!

Cinnamon chips?

A couple years ago I found cinnamon chips, like chocolate chips, at the Fred Meyer in Renton. I can't remember what brand they were and I haven't found them since. Has anyone since cinnamon chips for baking around Seattle? Thanks.

Peppermint milk shakes

Sounds good, but I don't think we have a Chik fil A in Seattle. Bummer!

Peppermint milk shakes

Any fast food places offer peppermint milk shakes? Thank you.

Feeding volunteers dinner....

Thank you for the ideas. The cheese spread looks good.

Feeding volunteers dinner....

This is mainly to feed them while they're working. So I think half of them will eat first while the other ones are working the auction, then they'll go out to work while the next group comes in to eat. So not really a sit down and socialize kind of thing. More like eat quickly and then get back to work.

Feeding volunteers dinner....

Volunteers are setting up for a dinner/live auction. So setting up tables and chairs and decorating. They will have had breakfast/lunch brought in earlier. I'm actually not sure if it's the same volunteers who will be doing the day shift. I don't think so, because that would be a really long day.

Feeding volunteers dinner....

I'm part of a small group who are feeding 35 volunteers dinner. We really don't know how much food we need. Here is the plan so far:

Tray of ready made sandwiches from deli
Tray of ready made pinwheel sandwhiches from deli
Tray of salami and beef stick, tray of sliced cheese
Crackers
Tortilla chips and salsa
Pita bread, hummus, red pepper, cucumber
2 veggie trays
2 dips - spinach artichoke and artichoke jalapeno
Bowl of oranges, tray of banans and grapes
Desserts will be frozen cheese cake bites, frozen mini chocolate tarts and cream puffs from Costco

We don't want anything that needs to be heated or kept warm. What do you think?

Menu Item - 6 pack of beer for the crew?

I was looking at a local menu online and noticed a menu item, "A SIX PACK OF BEER FOR THE CREW $10 the crew works hard to deliver great food, drink and service. show them your appreciation."

Has anyone else seen something like this on a menu?

Husband is having gallbladder removed

Agree with Njchicaa. I had mine out 3 years ago and my doctor told me there weren't any restrictions on my diet. I had a little bit of pain for 2 days after surgery, then I was totally fine.

Salad Pizza - WTF!!

I haven't had it since, but I had it in Rome about 7 years ago. It was at a small pizza place that had several different kinds of slices, not really much of a sit down place. I think about that pizza often. It was a regular slice of cheese pizza with some lightly dressed greens and tomatoes on top. It was kind of luke warm and the lettuce was still crunchy. There is also a local pizza chain in Seattle that offers pizza crust with salad on it. It's supposed to be really good.

Charged more than menu price [moved from New York State]

It's the law in Washington state. I don't know how many other states have this law.

Restaurants next to Gaudi, 55th and 35th NE in Seattle?

Thank you so much, PAO. Do you know if there is anything else within walking distance of that area?

Restaurants next to Gaudi, 55th and 35th NE in Seattle?

I'm trying to find out what restaurants (if any) are next to Gaudi on that little strip on 55th and 35th Avenue NE in Seattle. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Nutrition Action newsletter

I like the newsletter and think it provides valid information. Can you give more specific examples of how they are wrong?

Do you enjoy sugar-free and/or low fat products even though you're not on a diet?

I like Diet Coke and can't stand regular Coke or Pepsi. I understand when people make fun of others who order the double cheeseburger and large fries with a diet coke, but really, I prefer the taste, it's not like I think I'm watching my calories. I also only really like skim milk. I can't drink whole milk at all. Like someone else said, it's like drinking butter. I can't stand when someone else takes a drink of whole milk and you see it coating the glass. It just seems so thick.

How do you define trashy?

Oh wow, I do the same thing except I use saltines instead of tortillas. Now I'm going to have to try the tortillas. I'm always a little embarrassed with the amount of Kraft singles I use and try to be stealth when I'm preparing my bowl in front of my husband. I think it's more like melted Kraft singles with a little chili added.

turkey cutlets - any ideas?

Oh that sounds really good with the arugula. I'll try that, thanks!

Restaurants that call you and ask that you "Call us back to confirm" a reservation you've already confirmed online. Do you call back?

No, I didn't say that people were less discourteous in the past. Thank you for the evidence.
