Looking for great coffee maker
I never put the cap on, I should've remembered to caution you! Can cause quite the science experiment... you don't need the cap, just a strong solution. So glad it worked for you. It's great for getting unbelievable amounts of gunk out of travel mug tops, too.
Why should I buy tilapia?
Hey, I'll fight you for it, even though I just ate my half of a 4 lb hard shell last night! Boiled with sea salt.
Why should I buy tilapia?
I often eat steamed or boiled lobster plain. There's butter on the table and some lemon, but the meat is so sweet I often just end up eating much of it plain.
Why should I buy tilapia?
To quote someone smarter than I: when the horse is dead, dismount.
Why should I buy tilapia?
That's why I asked. It wasn't clear what you were asking for.
Why should I buy tilapia?
I'm saying that I don't consider a recipe to be a good decision making criterion for whether or not a food meets my requirements for good to eat.
Why should I buy tilapia?
I don't believe recipes are the thing to rely upon when it comes to food safety, sustainability and quality.
Indian Food in Long Island (middle of the island)
Yes, we really like Bukhara Grill as well, a good alternative to Diwan, where we used to eat.
Why should I buy tilapia?
What sources are you asking for? I know that seafood watch organizations say almost all the tilapia sold in the U.S. is from undesirable producers, with the U.S. farmed the best quality, followed by some farms in places like Ecuador. I've seen film of the appalling conditions that Chinese tilapia is raised in... nothing I'd want near my kitchen.http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/seafoodwatch/web/sfw_factsheet.aspx?gid=69
Why should I buy tilapia?
Seafood watch seems to find swai acceptable without the types of warnings given wrt tilapia. Still, given how polluted and unregulated so many Asian fish farms are, I avoid it.
I Love my Weber grill - Cornell chicken
I almost never eat boneless chix breasts, ever, but occasionally I marinate them and grill them on low heat to eat atop salad... very juicy, nice carmelization... I use a Weber Genesis gas grill.
refused to eat, out of line?
I give them a little spritz with dilute bleach spray, or a soakd and rinse, and scrub the outsides of skins of stuff before cutting in for that reason.
Why should I buy tilapia?
I know how and where it's used, I just don't think it rises to the level of culinary quality. That doesn't mean folks can't make the best of it, only that I won't be having any. :-)
Best fresh cream cheese (flavored and plain) in Nassau Long Island
I only ever buy plain Ben's Natural... but that's certainly a possibility with the other, mixed stuff.
Why should I buy tilapia?
I can agree that it has a role in the nutrition universe, but not the culinary.
refused to eat, out of line?
I wouldn't eat the meat described in the OP, particularly if it was feedlot beef.
Two New Boards: Vegetarian & Vegan and Special Diets
I'd suggest eliminating "strict" as a modifier for low carb, which is practiced along a fairly wide spectrum of anywhere fromn 10-150 grams of carbs per day, though under 100 grams per day is the typical threshold.
Best fresh cream cheese (flavored and plain) in Nassau Long Island
The Ben's cream cheese I buy at Fairway is labeled as "fresh," I believe, the plain only (Edit: labeled "natural.". It's very good. But honestly, TempTee and Philly are quite good, too, though I buy Ben's any time I'm eating it instead of using it to make cheesecake.

is there an equivalent TRAVEL site like CHOWHOUND (we need a "TRAVEL-HOUND" site)
I haven't rated every single post here, only the quality of the site and how well suited it is to its mission. TA is not CH is. And quality is such a subjective thing in cases like this. I'll settle for integrity of the process and then we each pick which posts suit our needs most. It's not as if there's an entrance exam. ;-)
Indian Food in Long Island (middle of the island)
If you want real heat, head for Hicksville. Start at New Chilli (sic) and Curry on Woodbury Rd. Tell them you want 911 or hotter, Indian hot.
Why do you continue shopping at CostCo? I am underwhelmed. What do you appreciate about the warehouse store?
I love Cracker Barrel in the red foil, sharp cheddar, and also always have Cabot and often Black Diamond in the house.

That's the problem I have with couponing, too. There's so little that we eat that can be bought with them, though I'm sure there are overall savings to be had by using them for other stuff.
is there an equivalent TRAVEL site like CHOWHOUND (we need a "TRAVEL-HOUND" site)
Not here so much, if at all. But at TA, most of them are suspect. Not equivalent because here there is very careful policing of commercial and proprietor posts with cooperation between mods and the community. TA has loose guidelines about that and doesn't even reinforce those.
is there an equivalent TRAVEL site like CHOWHOUND (we need a "TRAVEL-HOUND" site)
Sadly, not equivalent, TA is full of scammers, phony reviews and takes no actions against even the most egregious. CH tends to content reliability and quality in a very assiduous way and maintains a site with high integrity.
What's for dinner #145 [old]
Last night was Stracetti over arugula with shaved parmegiano reggiano. The dressing was the seasoned olive oil and balsamic vinegar the beef was quickly browned in. Great summer dinner.
Why do you continue shopping at CostCo? I am underwhelmed. What do you appreciate about the warehouse store?
I can vouch for the Giada marinara sauce that beat him... very traditional homemade tasting.... and great body.

Thanks for the info about wines... should have read further!

Thanks, Paula, I've been to the Westbury store, have never noticed the liquor store. Good wine selection? I am in the area every Thurs.
Why aren't eggs more prevalent in traditional Chinese/Taiwanese breakfasts?
I think some were, sorry I don't still have the book. I just don't think it's unusual to see Chinese folks eating eggs with their rice or noodles at any time of day, was my point. I bought the book decades ago, but this looks exactly like the cover, same title: http://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Snacks-Wei-Chuans-Cook-Book/dp/0941676072
Amazing book, very traditional/authentic.
