Hinesburgh Public House - Hinesburg, VT We visited the new Hinesburgh Public House over the weekend. It opened about 3 weeks ago so we figured we had given it enough time for them to work out the kinks before we tried it. We were wrong but it didn't really detract from our experience. Service was really friendly but we counted 7 MINOR service mistakes. Waitress didn't fully know the menu, my side was put on my husband's plate, bill was brought in an AmEx "folder" but they don't accept AmEx, took a while to get drink refills etc. Nothing major but mistakes that should not have been made IMO. Food was OK-we were not totally wowed. We both ordered burgers. I asked for mine medium but it came out medium well. For $12 it was pretty basic-cheddar, lettuce, tomato & onion. Would be nice to have other topping options such as mushrooms, carmelized onions etc. It was actually pretty bland-didn't seem to have any seasoning. The only condiment offered was ketchup-we had to ask for mustard. Burger comes with a choice of a side - fries, salad, quinoa or vegi. I was really pleased with the kids menu except for the price-I thought it was a little pricy for such small portions ($9). Its an al la carte menu-choice of burger, chicken, salmon or pasta. Choice of starch, vegi and fruit. A nice change from most kids menus where your choices are grilled cheese, hot dogs or chicken fingers! They need lighting in the parking lot badly (there is currently none so its very dark) but from what I understand the property owner is working on putting some in. The restaurant is very loud so if you are looking for a quiet intimate experience you won't find it there. We will definitely be back to try again - really interested in trying something off the entree section of the menu especially one of their locally grown steak options. Hopefully in another couple weeks the kinks can be worked out. |

VT Trip Oct.2012: A Week of Burlington Bliss (Long!) Great report. You hit all our faves in my neck of the woods (Starry Night, Laundry, Black Sheep). But best of all you discovered Good Times. We go there a lot. GREAT food. Pizza is really good. My favorite dish there is the chana masala and also the sweet potato/black bean burrito (when they have it-its a special). Good Times is definitely a hidden gem - really popular with the locals but gets overlooked by visitors. |

Special Occasion Restaurants - Saratoga Springs/Glens Falls/Lake George Corridor Hi there - |
Being North Conway, I'm sure most places are kid friendly. That said, we are looking for a couple recommendations for a good breakfast spot, good sandwich/sub place for lunch and a couple places for dinner. I'm thinking Moat Mountain for dinner one night? Anything else you can recommend? We'll be there the week after the 4th. Thanks! |

Starry Night Cafe-Ferrisburgh VT Glad you liked it. That place is our go to special occasion restaurant. Good food, GREAT service. |

Morganna - I haven't been...just threw it out there because its smack dab in the middle of Shelburne. We've been meaning to try it but we have so many other faves in the area that we just keep skipping over it. |

the Farmer's Market is fantastic too. On Saturdays. Right in town. You can't miss it. |
There is also Barkeaters. I NEVER hear anything about it. AND. How could I forget The Bearded Frog?? |
Have you been to Starry Night Cafe in Ferrisburg? About 15 minutes south of Shelburne. Highly recommend if you have not. |

We went to Bar Antidote in Vergennes last night. Totally forgot it was Resto Week. We got lucky and they could accommodate us (they were booked!). My favorite dish there is the Surf 'N Turf burger and it happened to be one of their "prescriptions" for Resto Week. For $25 I got a caeser salad, Surf 'N Turf burger (local beef with sea scallops - SO GOOD), and a rhubarb tart for dessert. I did find the salad to be a little too lemony for my taste. My dinner mate ordered the pulled pork sandwich off the regular menu-high raves. All pork for the restaurant is raised 6 miles from the restaurant at the chef/owners farm. |

pink slime free in northernn new england Nope. I don't buy ground meat at grocery stores. Just local beef from our co-op or directly from the farm. The only way to go IMO. |

Vermont- Killington, Rutland and Mendon Shann- I forgot about the fire at Table 24. Are they eventually going to re-open or are they shutting down for good? |

Vermont- Killington, Rutland and Mendon Cafe Provence in Brandon, 20-25 minutes north of Rutland. In Rutland (have not been yet but have heard good things |

You'll also be close to Cabot so you could visit the Creamery, take a tour and sample cheese. |

If you like beer....the Hill Farmstead Brewery is in nearby Greensboro. You also ought to read "The Town That Food Saved" by Ben Hewitt before you head out if you can. It's all about Hardwick. |

This is going to sound weird (ha) but Christmas Tree Shoppes have Grade B pretty frequently. I've found Maple Grove and McClures there. |
Keep posting about Rutland! I meet my mother there occasionally and am always looking for good places. |

Tiny Thai in the Essex Outlets is really good but it's not local/seasonal. They have a great lunch deal there - a drink, and app and an entree for under $10. |
