I have seen Promised Land milk in glass bottles, but didn't realize that they are returnable...thanks! |

Does anyone know where in Houston I can buy milk in reusable/returnable glass bottles? You know, like the ones the milkman used to deliver? My daughter lives in Minneapolis where there are several grocery co-ops and has no problem finding it there. We recycle everything and have gone from buying milk in cartons (not recyclable) to plastic bottles, but I would love to be able to get it in glass. They sell goat's milk at the farmers' market, but I am looking for cow's milk. Thanks! |

What is a reasonable mark-up on wine? Quesque c'est OP? |

What is a reasonable mark-up on wine? Well, just to check it out, I saw it last Friday at Central Market (whose prices are NOT the cheapest in town) for $44.99 . |

What is a reasonable mark-up on wine? After almost 6 years in Houston, we finally made it to DaMarco's for dinner last Saturday. The food and service were both excellent, and I felt that for the quality and quantity, that the food was reasonably priced. With dinner we also had a lovely bottle of 2004 Vietti Barolo Castiglione for $125. When we got home, I was curious to find out more about this wine and online learned that it retails for about $40. I expect to pay 100% mark-up wine, but I really think that 200+% is excessive. Any opinions on this? |

Sierra Grill Salad [moved from Texas board] Remember the Sierra Grill on Montrose that closed a few years ago? They served a salad that had blueberries and blue cheese in it as well as spring mix and pecans I think. I saw a recipe for it once in a local cookbook that was being sold in a beauty shop. If anyone has the recipe, I would be eternally grateful :-) |

Saturday dinner in San Francisco My husband and I are looking for suggestions for a restaurant for this coming Saturday night. We are staying at the Washington Square Inn, 1660 Stockton Street, so some place in walking distance on Columbus would be great. By the time I got around to it, Gary Danko's was booked, although we are on a waiting list. We are only in the city for 2 nights, having dinner at Bacco http://www.baccosf.com/ on Friday night. We will be spending Sunday and Monday in Palo Alto, so any suggestions for there would be welcomed, too. Thanks! Pam |

I'm an "inner-looper" so I'm not sure that there is anywhere worth going to north of I-10...sorry to sound like a snob. My first choice would be Cafe Rabelais in Rice Village http://caferabelais.com/home.html |

Between Houston and Dallas on I-45 We always stop at Woody's and love it, especially because it really is halfway between Houston and the metroplex. I have heard that Sam's (in Fairfield, I think) is very good, but have never gone there because on the way up it is too close to my destination and coming home it's too far! |

(HOU) Good chow near metrorail stops? There is a Cafe Express in the Museum of Fine Art on Binz and Fannin, only a couple of blocks from the light rail, I think. It is a chain, but they have great sandwiches and salads, all freshly made. Another possibility for lunch is Spec's Liquor on Smith (4 blks west of Main)...they have a great deli in the back, and you could also pick up a bottle of wine or two to enjoy in your hotel room :-) Pam |

Looking for best Margarita in Houston Our favorite place for margaritas is Pico's Mex-Mex at 5941 Bellaire. They have a great margarita menu...all made from scratch...none of that nasty margarita mix! They also have the best soft-shelled crabs in town! Pam |

German food in Milwaukee/Waukesha...... It was probably Weissgerber's Gasthaus. I have never eaten there, but have heard good things about it: http://www.weissgerbers.com/gasthaus/ |

Gimme some Houston restaurant ideas -- please! I second the motion for Cafe Rabelais...we just ate there Wednesday night and the food, wine and service were wonderful, as usual. They are closed on Sunday and don't take reservations, so I don't know what the wait is like on a Saturday night. They do serve lunch, though, so that is always an option. http://www.caferabelais.com/ |

Fruit with Meat; a Do or a Don't You KNOW how I feel about this matter...maybe it is genetic :-) I do, however, like non-sweet citrus (lemon and lime) with fish and meat, esp. gremolata with osso bucco. BTW, we had GREAT sushi tonight for dinner. |

Both Whole Foods and Central Market have excellent quality fish. J&R Seafood (7277 Brompton, just south of Holcombe) has been recommended to me, although I have not been there personally. |
