NYer coming for the weekend - please help

I did a bit of research on the boards and elsewhere and here is what I came up with so far. Please let me know suggestions/changes/etc. I have always been excited to come to Chicago for the food. Can't wait.

Friday - we get in late (about 9). Not sure what's still available for a quick bite. Thinking Chicago hot dog or Italian beef. Any recs on the way from O'Hare to the hotel (Westin - Michigan Ave)? Anything around the hotel? Doesn't have to be hot dog or beef, just don't want to make a huge to do.

Saturday -
-Need breakfast.
-Lunch we were thinking Hot Dougs or Lou Malnati's. Is Malnati's the best place to try Chicago Pizza? Never really had it other than Uno in NY (which I wasn't thrilled with).
Dinner - Heard so many great things about Gibson's I think we have to try it. Agree?

Sunday-
-Need breakfast, a market, or something.
-Lunch - Purple Pig? We may also go to the Sox/Cubs game at US Cellular. Anything good around there?
Dinner - Needs to be an early one. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance guys. The main point is that I want hot dogs, pizza and Italian beef because they all look awesome and are so different from what we get in NY. Please let me know. I look forward to getting this info!!!!!

Taste of Italia - Elmwood Park

Just checking if this place is still any good. I used to go years ago when they were on broadway, but recently found out they relocated. Any thoughts?

Flushing Sichuan

Pictures look great and way better than anything we had. The problem wasn't necessarily the spice level (although it could have been spicier). The food just wasn't good. None of it. Honestly. Anyway, I will chalk it up to an off moment and hopefully try again with better success another day.

Flushing Sichuan

Not trying to be the guy who disagrees to disagree, but went to S&T today for the first time and HATED it. We went around 5:00 (nobody else in the restaurant). We ordered the wontons in chili oil, shredded pork with dried bean curd and double cooked pork. First, no spice at all in any of the dishes (realize the dried bean curd was intentional). We went all over Flushing today and all agree that S&T was really bad. Seriously like LI strip mall bad. Could it be just an off hour and their "real" chefs weren't around? Anyone experience anything like this here?

Flemington - Bok Bok Fresh

Thanks for the info. The wrap with feta and hummus sounds really good. I will check it out.

Flemington - Bok Bok Fresh

Anybody know anything about this new place opening in the shoppes at flemington? they have a website for a different location and menu looks good.

Le Bernardin--lunch prix fixe?

I may be alone here, but totally recommend Jean-Georges for lunch of Le Bern. Le Bern is great for dinner, but don't love the lunch for the $. Jean-Georges is the best lunch deal in town for that level restaurant. $28 for 2 courses, $12 for each additional.

Business dinner nr. 53rd and Lex?

Can't try Blaire Perrone. They have been out of business for months. Try Ben & Jacks. They have a bunch of side rooms for private parties.

What's good at Pampano?

I have been quite a few time for lunch and always order the same thing. I get the ceviche sampler for app; red snapper for main and sorbet for desert. It is really good and cheap on the prix fixe.

Restaurant Week most expensive

Kobe Club is on the list. What can they possibly offer on a $35 menu??

LA Foodie Going home to Lower Bucks for visit. Help

Gerenser's was closed (I think for good) by the board of health!!!

Best Chinese food in Bayswater/Queensway?

I think Four Seasons is definitely the best of the bunch. I love the roast duck, roast pork, choy sum and shredded chicken over crispy fried noodles. There are other good dishes as well.

DC Help Tonight - Solo

Travelling to D.C. tonight and staying in Dupont. Willing to travel. I will be alone, so please let me know if any places are better for that. What's great? $50-100 is the budget. I would love something unique to D.C. if that's possible. Thanks!!

Appetizers and Vegetables at Peter Luger Steakhouse

The perfect meal at PL is as follows:
-a few onion rolls
-bacon
-salad with the third best item at PL... The garlic French dressing. Not too many people I go with know about it, but after I get them to taste they are hooked. It is amazing. Make a sandwich with the onion roll, bacon, salad and garlic french
-steak
-the German potatoes are good, not great, but get them
-anything with schlag for desert

Hakata Ippudo

Anyone been yet? I know it just opened... Seems like this will be the new hype of the week. Please let us know your reviews so far. Thanks

Artichoke Basille's Pizza on 14th St

I went too. The square slice had potential, but the bottom was really burnt. I also had a "free sample" (a thin slice) of the artichoke pie. I really didn't like it. It tasted to me like creamed spinach pizza. I would go back and try the plain round slice. The place almost had a DiFara feel to me (the place, not the pizza)...not sure why.

Borough Market [London]

The 2 items that are must haves are the toasted cheese sandwich and chorizo sandwich at Brindisa. Check out some recent pictures I took from my trip to the market.

Florence - Please Help with Lunch and Dinner

Thanks again for the great advice. I also have a friend that recommends Osteria Belle Donne. Ever heard of that? Any good? Is Trattoria Sostanza recommended over the places in your other review? Thanks again!

Florence - Please Help with Lunch and Dinner

We will be in Florence for 2 days in March. Neither of us have been before. Looking for a couple great lunches and dinners. I hear the food in Florence is amazing, but the posts seem overwhelming with what to choose. Is there any consensus on the best couple of restaurants for lunch and dinner? Teatro de Sale sounds very interesting. Is it worth it?

Thanks.

Rome - Lunches and Dinners!!

We are coming from NYC and staying in Rome at the Capo D'Africa hotel for 4 days in early March. The hotel is near the forum. I haven't been to Rome in years so need some help. We are looking for:

Great lunch (Jewish ghetto, pizza and maybe 1 really nice sitdown lunch)
Dinner (great traditional and modern Italian food).

During our stay we will be all over Rome so no need to limit to a specific area. Just want the best Rome has to offer. If possible, for the better meals we would love to try and stay under 75 Euros per person.

Thanks!

Chola -- What to order?

You shouldn't. You should go for the lunch buffet which offers all of the good dishes they have for 13.95 (which is less than the cost of 1 dish at dinner time). Hope that helps.

In Search for the Best Porterhouse

Ben & Jacks and Wolfgangs are probably the best in Manhattan (bacon is better at Wolfgangs). Rothmann's is actually surprising good too.

Tasting Room

The first time I went it was definitely worth it. Second time, not so much. Problem is that the menu (including wine) changes so frequently that it is hard to get something you liked from a previous visit. I guess that's part of the allure as well (the fresh, changing menu). Anyway, first time they had mutton meatballs that were out of this world. They also had a dish with duck egg, chanterelle (sp?) mushrooms and bacon that was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The waiter was quite helpful, but he has since left (maybe the staff changes as frequently as the menu). It should be a good experience. Enjoy!

Anybody been to Gordon Ramsay in New York Yet?

Out of this world! We had the $90 set menu for lunch and the meal was absolutely amazing! I had the tuna, pork 3 ways and chocolate/ginger desert (and of course the bon bon trolley). The room and service were just as great as the food.

Del Posto Help?

Any must have dishes? I realize there are a good amount of bad reviews, but I have to go. What should I not miss? Is the tasting menu the way to go?

IL Mulino or Del Posto

I need help...couldn't get Babbo and have never been to either of these. I know both of these can get pretty bad reviews sometimes, but are they really that bad? Which has the better food? I am taking my grandmother and parents. Please help!!
