A GOOD THAI RESTAURANT ?????????

HOT - off the press. The original owners of Far East Tast have opened a new place, which is located at Kennnedy Plaza on Brick Blvd in Brick. Yep and you already know the name "Far East Taste." I'm sure the wife and I will try it this week and I'll
post the results.

Breakfast in the shore area?

We have been going to the Starving Artist in Ocean Grove for years now and they do a really good job overall and not to mention that the food server Tom is probally one of the best in the business. However, looking to branch out and find a few more favorites - WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST? Thanks...

We have eaten at Vivas about 1/6 dozen times and each meal has been excellent. The food, servie and ambiance are top notch. Will Vivas is off to another great start. Hope you enjoy it...

Any info on Brandl in Belmar?

Why would you go back there again after being treated the way you were? I live close by as well and have never gone there based on the consistent poor reviews of the place over the past few years and I not just talking the Chowhound...

Christie's in Howell?

I second Angelina's opinion, this place is still living on their reputation of several years ago. Simply put - I would not recommend it or go back there again.

Casa Solar - Belmar

OK let me put this corking fee to rest - YES they did actually charge one last summer for several months but have since dropped it. NOW for the real news my wife and I went there last Saturday. This was maybe our 10/12 th visit and we were really turned off. The place has changed and not for the best. Our dishes were real mediorce. The white linen table cloths were replaced with paper place mats, the room temprature was cold and Juan was nowhere to be found, additionally the place was empty. I guess the word is getting out. Go at your own risk...

A GOOD THAI RESTAURANT ?????????

My wife and I have eaten at Siam Garden in Red Bank and at their now closed location in Manasquan at least 30 times over the years. It is always good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere at a reasonable price but not cheap.

But I suggest to you a new Thai place in Sea Girt on Rt 35 called Basil Thai with really good and more creative dishs, very friendly service and a better price value than Siam Garden.

Asbury Park / Ocean Grove Area

Sorry - but these people are all missiing the point. There is only one choice for you and it is Moonstruck. Even the name implies romance right? There are many very
good establishments in Asbury now - but the oldest and still the best is, yes I'll say it again Moonstruck.

My rating: (5) stars out of (5)

New Thai in Wall/Sea Girt?

Update - we go there weekly now (6) times so far and I will go so far as to say it has very good food, is consistent and the nice people make this one of our new favorites.
My rating: (4) stars out of (5)
Bottom line: go there and try it - you will be happy!

New Restaurant - Vivas - Belmar

We have eaten there about six times since it opened last summer and each experience was positive. The food, serivce and ambience are all first class.
Overall - four (****) stars out of five. Not bad for a local shore joint located in
Belmar.

Harpoon Willy's~Manasquan, NJ

Went there several weeks ago and what a bad experience. Bartenders were anything but attentive. Food (burgers) took forever and were not prepared as requested. We actually called the manager over and voiced our concern about his new establishment.
Bottom line we would not go back anytime soon. This is no Shipwreck and I doubt that it ever will be...

Rod's Sea Girt- should have known

Twenty years ago Rods was great - times change. Today it is an also ran, a place where a bunch of old Irish sots sit around the bar and pontificate and watch sports
on the TV ad nauseam. If this is you cup of tea, so be it. However, dont go there expecting the food, service or atmosphere to be anything bettter than mediocre.

New to Brick. Suggestions?

By all means check out Via Veneto in Brick, as it is one of the best Italian spots in Ocean and Monmouth counties. It is a BYOB with many daily specials along with
an excellent menu that will not break the bank. http://viavenetobrick.com/

New Thai in Wall/Sea Girt?

Everyone the new Thai restaurant on Rt 35 in Sea Girt is not the Sunrise Garden, which was a mediocre establishment down on Rt 71 in Manasquan. The new restaurant It is called Basil Thai and is quite good. My wife and I have been there several times over the past few weeks. The wait staff is very friendly and they did a real nice job with the ambience. It is a BYOB with a good selection and reasonable pricing. Give it a try and you will be glad you did...

Undici~Rumson last night.

Angelina - sorry but this is for the elite of Rumson and Fairhaven. The food here is just as it is at Basil's, average and way over priced. The wine is overpriced as well at $10 a glass. This is not a CHOWHOUND opportunity but a cutting edge excuse to through money away. I would rather eat two meals for the same price at What's Your Beef right next door. Please don't be enamored by the fancy brick work and blinded to the marketing hype. This restraunt will not cut it in the long run as there is simply no value here...other than visual.

Synaxis~Asbury Park, NJ

Went there just after opening and...
- Lovely place
- Nice staff
- Decent mediterranan food selection
- Pricing through the roof ($40 for a piece of fish and does not include app, veg or desert) not to mention very expensive drinks and wine
- Go with a wad of cash or an expense account
- Better yet go to Moonstruck and spend a lot less for the same quality food and...

Brennen's Steakhouse Neptune City

Sory Big but Brennan's is a has been. When it opened several years ago it really was the best steak house around. But, after many changes for the worse it took a nose dive to where it is today. Although, I've been ther dozens of times - no more. End of story.

Asbury Park, NJ

I'm supprised that no one has mentioned Moonstruck in Asbury, as it is on of the best restaurants in all of Jersey. Forget the Harrison and Market in the Middle. You simply can't go wrong with TAKA - I've eaten there at least a dozen times in the past two years and it is always enjoyable. Carmine's is good as well on main street. Bistro Ole
has slipped now that Will Vivas the founding chef is gone.

Real, Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor in NJ

Probally the best is in Ocean Grove at the Day's Inn (Starving Artist) but sorry it is seasonal May - September. They sell Double Rainbow which is shipped in from San Francisco, CA. This is the one of the best in the country but hard to find hear on the east coast. Hint, if you ever go to Trader Vics look for it in the freezer. Take home the
ultra chocolate and it will blow you away if you like chocolate. Simply nothing like it anywhere.

Real, Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor in NJ

If the corner confectionary still sells Sedutto's ice cream as they use to (10) years ago when I lived in the area and went often - you can't go wrong. This is one of the best ice creams available bar none.
