Outside Dining - Pittsburgh, PA

As the weather gets nicer, it is possible to combine 2 of my favorite things.. eating and being outside.

So, my question is.. where are your favorite places to dine outside?

I like...

Ibiza
Mallorca
Harris Grill
Six Penn (rooftop deck)

Always looking for new suggestions and places to try!

Thanks in advance to all for your input!

Merguez sausage in Pittsburgh?

I'm not sure what merguez sausage is, however, I would check the Strip District.

They have a lot of international stores with many different items.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Anniversary dinner in Pittsburgh (considering Le Pommier)

I second the recommendation for Dish. It is quite possibly my favorite place in Pittsburgh.

It is small, intimate, yet has a really cool and young vibe. Reservations are a MUST especially for a Friday and Saturday night. I would recommend also having a drink at their bar before and/or after.

Enjoy.

Great Wine Lists in Pittsburgh?

Nine on Nine just hired a sommelier, that a long with amazing food.. it should be at the top of your list.

Boston - this weekend

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Boston this weekend for the first time and need some help on where to eat for lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.

We are staying in Beacon Hill but really don't mind walking or taking a taxi. Places that are unique, trendy, modern, fun, along with good food are what appeal to us. Price is not really a concern.

We are thinking about twenty eight degrees for dinner and drinks, but we nave no idea about what is good and we will more than appreciate your suggestions. We also would like to try some local Boston seafood dishes.

We really appreciate your help and are looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Knish in Pittsburgh?

there is a hot dog cart, Joe's hot dogs on walnut street in shadyside. The hot dogs are amazing and they usually have knish. They are across from pottery barn and are open on saturday and sunday.

Chicago - this weekend

Thank you everyone so much for your help.

I think we've ruled out Durkin's Bar for the Steeler game, probably going to check out the Dark Horse, it sounds like the best place to go.

We will be sure to report back where we went, what we had, and how it was.

Thanks again!

Chicago - this weekend

Thank you so much for your response! We will definitely look into the other 2 Italian restaurants, my girlfriend isn't a huge fan of Italian food, but since it was recommended by my family, I think we might have to give the Rosebud a shot.

With further investigation of some other topics, the Park Grill in Millennium Park interests us both, I believe it was one of your recommendations. Although I doubt the skating rink will be open yet, it will still be a nice break in a great location!

I've been hearing a lot about the Custom House, and their menu and website looks great, definitely worth checking out, I wish we had more time.

Do you, or anyone else, know anything of any of the bars I mentioned above? Don't really want to end up in the wrong one, because we will be leaving straight from there to head to O'Hare Airport.

Thanks again.

Chicago - this weekend

My girlfriend and I are visiting Chicago for the first time this weekend and are staying at the Palmer House Hilton.

We both want something fun with good food. Both love trendy restaurants.

From a family recommendation we heard that Rosebud's in Little Italy is a must. Any thoughts on this restaurant?

We need another place for dinner, thinking about Rockit Bar & Grill for something casual.

Also some places for lunch and of course, the traditional deep dish pizza. We plan on doing sight seeing most of the day and will probably stop off and grab a quick lunch somewhere, but if anyone has any ideas for a good lunch spot we are open to any suggestions.

Have penned in Orange on Harrison judging by other recommendations on the board, sounds very interesting and different and can't wait to try it out.

And another thing (and maybe most important), both of us are from Pittsburgh and since our flight doesn't leave until the evening on Sunday, would love to find a Steeler bar to watch the game. I checked the website for Steeler bars across the country and came up with the following bars:

Durkin's Bar on West Diversity Pkwy
Joe's on West Weed Street
The Dark Horse Tap and Grill on North Sheffield

Does anyone know anything about these places, quality of atmosphere/food, proximity to hotel or other sightseeing places, and ease of getting to O'Hare airport from them?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Pittsburgh, fine dining, jeans?

I've personally been to Nine on Nine (and Bar Nine) wearing jeans at both, was at Nine on Nine on a Friday evening, too.

Also, have been to Eleven for the tavern menu (a little more casual than the restaurant part) wearing jeans and also in the restaurant, although it was early in the evening on a weeknight, wearing jeans.

Hope this helps!
As far as Lidia's, I was there only for lunch, and the attire of the crowd was mixed.

Weekend in Chicago

Matt, thanks for the info! We are definitely going to check out Orange for brunch, their menu seems really different. Also, gonna do Lou Malnati's for the pizza.

We're still doing some research on some other places, so any more recommendations are welcome!

Thanks.

Weekend in Chicago

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Chicago in November. Neither us have been before.

We are staying at the Palmer House Hilton, so proximity would be nice as we will be walking/taking a cab.

We need suggestions for:
breakfast/brunch
lunch
dinner

We are on a flexible budget but would easily sacrifice to make the most of our trip. We both like new and trendy restaurants. I think we have penciled in Rockit Bar and Grill for a late lunch or early dinner on Friday. Also, we definitely want to have the traditional deep dish Chicago pizza for a lunch or late night snack.

We really appreciate any and all advice!
