North Boston Pizza?

are you referring to North End Pizza ? For a chain, they are fairly decent. It's the dressing that makes that salad so tasty. it's kinda sweet and they drown everything in it.

Another vote! La Cabanita is definitely my favorite Mexican cuisine in LA, too.

Thanksgiving - Wholefoods or Bristol?

Bristol Farms is far better than Whole Foods, but it will likely be more expensive too.

All India Cafe Pasadena

How is it that this place has completely ripped off the menu from Bombay Cafe ? (sev puri, frankies, thalis) I would think they were the same owners, but the quality here is nowhere near as good as Bombay Cafe.

Thoughts on Best Burger in LA?

totally have to agree with you about The Hungry Cat. The Pug Burger is the best burger I've ever had. I've was there last night cause I was craving it again. Then I went home and turned on my TV and saw the chef who cooked my burger on that TV program 'Afterhours with Daniel'.

Malo's in Silverlake?

it's really crowded on the weekends and you likely need to make a reservation. next time try the beef and pickle tacos...LOVE them. also love the single village mezcal's they have too.

no surpise. Silver Spoon is basically a Denny's with a bar.

Bahooka in Rosemead?

Bahooka's will definitely satisfy your love for kitsch. If you can, ask for a booth around the bar area. it has much better atmosphere. The room where they stick large groups and birthday parties is really depressing..it's like sitting in a garage with fish tanks and folding chairs. the food, in general, is pretty atrocious. we're talking fried mozarella sticks and some pretty shoddy cuts of steak. the drinks are fun though sickly sweet.

Tops Kobe Cheese Burger is Tops

hey, yes, I definitely ate at Tops on Colorado in Pasadena. I was not impressed to the say the least. Perhaps the seasoning was not chili, but it was something that was on both the fries and the burger. I'm not making this up, I tell ya..Maybe I was there on an off day and I had the crap chef. I also forgot to mention that it seemed like I tasted the grill on the burger more than the actual burger itself. I felt like it was flavored by everything else that was cooking on the grill. yeah, I guess $6.49 is a decent price considering, and if I go back, I'll be sure to ask for medium rare. Having said that though...Pie and Burger is closer to me..why would I ever not go there intead ?!

Christmas in LA

Bristol Farms is by far the finest grocery store chain in los angeles. they have best meat and fish selection. (much better than whole foods or gelson's). They also have an extensive selection of wine and liquor (and caviar too!) I always do my big holiday grocery shop there. It ain't cheap. In fact, it's so pricey, you'll never have to wait in line to check out (cause it's never crowded). There is a Bristol Farms located at Beverly Blvd. and Doheny Drive in Beverly Hills.

Tops Kobe Cheese Burger is Tops

I recently tried the Kobe Beef burger at Tops in Pasadena. I have to say that after all the hype on Chowhound, I was pretty disappointed. I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger prepared and it was cooked well done. The taste of the burger and the fries was overwhelmed by some sort of chili seasoning. not my favorite. I also don't like when a burger falls apart while your easting it.. it was pretty messy. I did also just have the Pug burger at The Hungry Cat a few weeks ago, which is the best burger EVER, so I was a bit biased going in.

Best Pizza (NY Style) in LA

You go east of the 405 only twice a year ??! Since you went to Mozza already, perhaps you should use your other foray into the big bad city to try one of LA's world class restaurants. Forget pizza, you're missing out on a some great cuisine with your strict "LA" qualification. ("LA" but not really LA). You've nulled out pretty much the entire city Los Angeles and C'mon, everyone knows, there's no good pizza in West Los Angeles or even Westwood.

Of all the places mentioned so far, Casa Bianca is by far the best. And hey, there's a Courtyard Marriot in Old Town Pasadena, so perhaps you can spend the night there, so you don't have to drive the forty minutes back to Santa Monica after dinner.

good lunch spot near arclight

we always make a trip to The Hungry Cat when we go to the arclight, however I think they are not open for lunch on Mondays. I would recommend Square One for a late breakfast or lunch.... http://www.squareonedining.com/

They always have a great oyster selection and some very inventive cocktails. The Pug Burger is yummy, too.

Do you know Café Beaujolais / Eagle Rock

I like Café Beaujolais. It's one of Eagle Rock's best. The food is very rich though and not a great place for veggies. I would recommend the steak or the halibut. both great. I love the onion soup too. Come early and swing by The Chalet for a pre-dinner cocktail or go for a glass of wine at the Colorado Wine Company.

Best pizza in town - informal opinion poll

Listen all you biatches, I am a pizza connoiseur. I know good pizza. I eat it all the f**ing time. I love pizza and I've been to every pizza joint from Venice to Altadena. I hate to admit it, but the sausage pizza at Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock is the best pizza I have ever had. There must be crack in that pizza cause I am addicted. seriously though...that pizza is dangerous. It's so good, I can't stop eating it. It is making me FAT. I am getting fat because of it.

As for artsy fartsy pizzas, Zelo's in Arcadia wins hands down. Who would have thought eating a corn pizza on a cornmeal crust would be amzingly good. well, it is...I am shocked too.

Dusty's on Sunset - How is their Dinner???

Do yourself a favor and book Cafe Stella instead. Dusty's is nowhere near as good as Cafe Stella. The food and the atmosphere are much better....as is the service. well, actually, the service is pretty shit at both restaurants.

La Cabanita and toddlers - do they mix?

that place is a friggin' romper room. Last time I was there, kids and baby carraiges were everywhere. The food is great by the way. Some of the best Mexican food in LA County!

Brownstone Pizza in Eagle Rock

I just popped in to Brownstone for lunch today. Damn, that pizza was f***ing good!! Big NYC slices and about as thin as a cracker. It was comparable to Mulberry Street Pizza, but now I don't have to go all the way to Beverly Hills for a good slice. I hope they spif the place up a little...get some art on the walls and sign out front or somethin'. Not the nicest room to eat in. The pizza is pretty great though. Will go back soon!

New In Eagle Rock: La Vie?

La Vie is none of the above. It's the same owner as Lemongrass. He is taking the space next door. This is bad news cause Lemongrass is not very good. you can get more info on http://www.eaglerocktalk.com

Nick & Stef's... Underserved & Overcharged

Just had to look this place up after having one of the worst steaks of my life. I had the dry aged NY steak cooked medium rare (as the chef suggested). I couldn't cut through the damn thing. it was SO tough. I had to methodically chip away around the gristle.

Delivery in Eagle Rock?

Hello Eagle Rock...Goodbye getting food delivered ever again! I moved to Eagle Rock from Miracle Mile and I think I have been able to make the mortgage payments on my house just from all the money I have saved from not being able to order food. According to LA Bite's web site, they will be offering service in our area soon (November), so I may be in trouble. But, for now, only cruddy, gross places like Panang, Thai Spirit and Two Guys From Italy deliver. I have learned to cook more though...which is nice.

Lemon Gross in Eagle Rock

I've tried Lemongrass twice already. the meatballs in my pho had chunks of bone or gristle in them. totally disgusting. The service is awful too. Entrees arrive before starters. I will not be going back ever again. I hope now that this place will close down soon and another person will take over the space with a better restaurant. However, Eagle Rock is starved for restaurants, so I'm sure people will be going there in droves and keeping them busy for a while. bummer.
