Best Breakfast Ever - Your Favorites
I had forgotten about Rick's. What about Ruby's? I still dream about that giant pillowy 30 minute strawberry filled cake...
Green Market in Fargo
I am a new MPLS transplant and am quite certain that The Green Market is by far the best in the area for delicious approachable everyday food. I was shocked to see that no one had yet replied to your inquiry seeing as how relieved I was to experience it for the first time last night. Typically, I find SOMETHING wrong with any restaurant foods, as I am an avid home cook who knows what I like, and I liked it ALL! Hopefully, you have been since your post otherwise get the caprese before tomatoes fall out of season again...

The Lowbrow
Agree. Went last night - ordered drinks and the jalapeno poppers. Based on the space, limited menu, and the completely lacking flavor of the app, we opted out on dinner. Too bad. I was really excited about this in the neighborhood.
MPLS: Popcorn bars!
Re-found obsession with slutty bar popcorn. Any favorite haunts? Esp. southside?
Omaha Downtown - recommendations
Nettie's Mexican: Get the pea & potato burrito! I haven't been able to find one like it anywhere else.
single best pizza in MSP/ No Time To Research Chow Archives
FH: Try Lorenzo's again. I would like to know your thoughts. I have come to enjoy a slice there old school Luce style but less crust!
Updated recs for 112?
Revisiting tonight! Any new recs so I don't end up re-ordering what I did 2 years ago? Please don't reply with "gnocchi".
Rochester, MN update
Tried Clay Oven and loved it! Any thoughts on Zzest? Any other places you would recommend?
Fork the Fire- what restaurant are you headed to Sunday?
Salut. (Parasole GCs.) A shame after hearing about Mission...
But have to say I am surprised there aren't like 100+ replies after Friday's post. How great that the community is so supportive. HEART MPLS!
Seeking hors d'oeuvres caterer.
Buffet style for about 30 people at my house in South Minneapolis. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
(MSP) - Grits
Agreed! The grits were the best part of my brunch on Sunday. (Although I have been craving the bacon as well.)
Downtown MSP: Saturday afternoon HH?
Zahtar? We enjoyed Fhima so many years ago...I think we may just check it out! Think it will be dead?
Downtown MSP: Saturday afternoon HH?
Ooo...Bar Lurcat is a great option even if there are no "specials". Thanks!
Downtown MSP: Saturday afternoon HH?
To include nibbles...Does anyone have any favorites?
Hors d'oeuvres for holiday cocktail party
Well, binford, what did you come up with? This is my dillema every first weekend of December in MPLS (although born and raised suburbanite). And after doing this for the last 8 years I have exhausted EVERYTHING, it seems, this year! I can't believe I didn't come across your post last year. Any input would be appreciated...
Any good eats in Omaha?
Currently dining in MPLS, but La Buvette is wonderful for a late afternoon glass of wine and cheese plate - never can speak for the service but the ambience makes up for it. M's Pub across the street. Killer duck salad...although that was a few years ago. The Flatiron! One of the better meals I can think of in the last few years. MAJOR portions though. And if you do ONE thing, venture to Benson for tapas and/or paella at Espana. SO worth the trip and sketchy drive! Many gems indeed. Enjoy!
Recs in Milwaukee & Iowa City
We like both high AND low-end gems. We are staying near Marquette and the University, respectively but will have a car. No limitations whatsoever, although I am not a huge fan of organ meats. THANKS!
Recs in Milwaukee & Iowa City
My husband & I will spend one night in each city next week. We tend to prefer the gems over the hype. Please help! The boards for them are somewhat overwhelming...
Omaha! Let's talk Omaha! (CA local needs your help)
As a native Minnesotan who was in Omaha for 4 years as well, I would make the following recs: I really like the French Cafe for brunch. Especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day! M's Pub is a fave for a drink and a nibble. Don't overlook Espana which is a very short trip from downtown to the Benson neighborhood for excellent tapas and paellas. And I am partial to Johnny's for the old fashioned Omaha steakhouse experience. Be warned that you can expect a pretty sad iceberg lettuce salad with a cherry tomato at most of the old school steakhouses. And we actually already have reservations at the Flatiron for graduation weekend! (Going back for a law school grad.)
Good luck!
Sunday night prix fixe at Levain (MSP)
Everyone should go...I can't possibly rave enough! Wonderful food. Exceptional value. A great way to taste Levain.
MSP - La Chaya
Last night (opening) I had the oh so simple citrus dressed salad which was so fresh it tasted like spring had sprung! And if only I could get my hands on the recipe for that pizza dough...absolutely delicious.
MSP - Buster's on 28th Report
I have unfortunately been completely avoiding the food but just heard from a reputable source that the meatloaf was great! But then, who knows about next time...
Far South Minneapolis Suggestions
Did anyone here mention the Chatterbox? I am mixed on the food but often times it comes through when there just isn't anywhere else to go. (And go to the Highland location if you don't want to leave stinking like a greasy spoon.) I am in total agreement that South desperately needs more middle-road with good ambience options!
MSP - Buster's on 28th Report
I have been there on several occasions now (most recently last night) and have been mostly dissappointed. We too, were waiting for the kinks to work themselves out. Sadly, they haven't...yet. The beer is great! The patio is great! It's really just what our little neighborhood needs. But alas, the service is at times non-existent, the food too inconsistent...even with the abbreviated menu, and some ventilation would certainly be appreciated. Will be back for beers...
