Athens, Santorini & Istanbul Recs needed

Hi,
Taking a trip and would love some recs. We are looking for local flavors in each of the regions and we are on a budget so don't want to pay a fortune for every meal.

I will be in the Plaka area of Athens and am looking for inexpensive lunch and dinner options. Maybe something fast casual and inexpensive for lunch and a casual sit down for dinner.

Next up we will be staying in Oia village on Santorini. Love any lunch, market or dinner recs in town.

We are ending in Istanbul. We are staying in the Sulhemet and will spend most of our days and nights there. Any recs for inexpensive lunchs (kabobs would be great!), casual restaurants.

Also, we are thinking of going somewhere for dinner one night with a rooftop and or view of the Bosphorus. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Client lunch around Hyatt 1 Marketplace

Great thanks! The hotel also suggested Top of the Market. Any thoughts on that?

Modern Bar Room Dish Recs or Similar Type Restaurants for Celebration

Thanks everyone, the duck looks amazing. I have been down the block countless time, but never really looked at the Bar Room. Does it feel like an actual restaurant, or just a seperate bar space for the main dining room?

Aldea could work too. hmm....

Modern Bar Room Dish Recs or Similar Type Restaurants for Celebration

I am celebrating a few things with my fiancée Saturday night. We want something special and celebratory and have a reservation at the Modern’s Bar room. We would love to do the main dining room or something like Gramercy Tavern, but we want to keep the costs closer to $200 with food and drink for both of us. Any other suggestions? I was thinking Craft but they are booked. Something like Perry Street would work too, but I just ate there.

We are open to food types, but would perfer to stay away from Japanese.

If we end up at the Bar Room, suggestions on what we should eat?

Need a GOOD Old School New York Suggestion

My grandparents have been going to 4 Seasons forever and they went last week and said the food was bland and underseasoned. They had their favorites the duck and the sole, and were surprised by the taste so much so that they asked the waiter about it.

Need inexpensive yet decent food east side mid-sixties...

I live on 63rd and head to a few spots in the area. Try Cabana on 61st and 3rd. It has Cuban/Latin food with really big portions and reasonable prices. They don't take reservations though and the wait can get long. Finnegan's Wake is our favorite Irish Pub, good food and cheap (don't expect a happening crowd though). A La Turka is good Turkish on 74th and 2nd and Go Burger (BLT burger spot) is on 75th and 2nd which I like a lot as well.

Lunch at Bon Ton or Galatoires?

After endless heavy meals on my trip to New Orleans, I want to eat some shrimp remoulade and maybe something else on the lighter side at lunch. I want to an experiance that I can't get in NYC and was thinking of Bon Ton Cafe or Galatoires which are both nearby where I am.

Thoughts?

Business trip: If you only had 2 ultimate meals in city—where would you go?

I am going to be in New Orleans for business and have work and meetings lined up. I have 1 dinner and 1 lunch to myself and want to get the best meals possible. If you only had 2 meals in the city—where would you go? I am open to all areas and would just as happy being at a high-end restaurant than at a dively local place. I just want some great food that I can’t get where I am from. I have been reading about K-Paul, Emeril’s, Commander’s Palace and Domilise Po Boy.

Also, as a second question, I am staying at the W on Poydras Street and wanted to know if there is anything right around there that I can’t miss if I have a minute to run out.

Dessert and Drinks Party- Bite Size Sweets

Having a Dessert and Drinks Party. I want to make bite size fun desserts that are easy to eat (the equivalent of bite size appetizers at a cocktail party). I am thinking mini- cupcakes, fruit skewers... any other ideas?

Casual South Beach near south of 5th

I am relocating part-time from NYC to a building on South Beach, south of 5th. Looking for casual (take-out and sit down) spots to make regular spots for meals. Looking for alternatives to the high-end touristy spots. Happy to walk or hop in the car.

Planning a birthday outing- upscale lounge/bar

Last time I was there it was busy and there was a waitlist for seating. Hotel guest got priority on the waitlist, but it was definitely open to the public. For a similar experience you could check out the Stone Rose also in Time Warner. It is an upscale lounge with the same view floors down and I think they might take reservations.

UES 2nd Ave Deli?

Check out pastrami queen. Their pastrami can be slightly inconsistent once and a while but it usually great. Their Special hot dog is really good too. Small, great for take out but they do have table service.

Another good option. I have never actually done a whole chicken but this seems foolproof. How hard is it to carve it up?

I think the marsala and francese are both good ideas, I am just concerned about standing over my stove while the starters are being served. Thoughts?

Wine Bar/Tapas - Lower Manhattan (Recommendations)

Wine bar below Peasant is great. Also, Alta has delicious tapas though is much more of a restaurant than wine bar.

Red meat lover dilemma: dinner party for chicken eaters

Hosting a dinner party for 6 friends who are picky eaters. To please everyone's palates my main entree option is pretty much only chicken. Anyone have a suggestion for an elegant dinner party chicken dish that is not too complicated to prepare and is not too exotic in flavor?
Thanks!

Adult-friendly downtown, great food, good atmosphere

Going to dinner downtown with my parents and we want to pick a place that is worth a trip downtown for them. We have enjoyed Apizz and 5 Points together and we are looking for something similar (not Orchard or Peasant). Anything below 14th, non-Asian, good atmosphere but most importantly great food. Type of restaurant experiance you can not get uptown.

Downtown bars in Midtown East

Felice wine bar on 64th and 1st above Sutton is a great wine bar (also serves small plates and pastas) that has an almost downtown feel.

Non tourist trap near Times Square - mission impossible?

Not a strip steak place, but to your original post or a casual cafe... I work in Times Square and we often go to BLX café at 123 W. 43rd a half a block off Times Square. It is Belgian cafe with great Belgian beers on tap, as well as a yummy croque madam and burger. Not necessarily a destination restaurant, but as soon as you step inside you forget you are right off Times Square and feel like you are in a regular neighborhood joint.

West Village Best to Make Boyfriend Want to Move to NYC

My boyfriend is visiting this weekend from CA, and I am trying to wow him with the city’s restaurants to make him move here. I live on the Upper East Side but I want him to experience more than my neighborhood. I was thinking of taking him down to the West Village as a an interesting, beautiful, fun and different destination for dinner.
I tried to get a reservation at Little Owl, which would have been my ideal choice, but it was booked for this weekend. I am looking for a combination of great atmosphere (that would make our trip downtown worth it) and great food. I was thinking of Extra Virgin because it has the type of pretty, romantic and downtown atmosphere I am going for. I would also be open to other neighborhoods. I do not want Asian food and our price point is not really an issue. Thoughts?

Florence restaurants-What do you think of this list?

Quatro Leoni is fantastic, steps from the ponte vecchio, but off the beaten path in terms of tourists. classic florence tratoria with exceptional food. the pastas are to die for (try the pear, asparagus in a light cream sauce). their grilled meats and foods are also all tastey. they also offer very very pleasant outdoor seating in an pretty piazza.
