Can't beat Scaramouche - flawless.

Cafe Boulud or Splendido ?

Sorry about that. I get myself in a snit about licious events.

CHIADO Winterlicious

Chia do is almost always good but the "licious" events should be avoided at all costs. It is rare that someone has a good experience. "Dean Tudor" - you got lucky!

Cafe Boulud or Splendido ?

Poorly designed, bad tables and chairs and very ordinary food. Servers were very nice but not polished. The art is awful except for the wooden dandelion pieces in the minuscule lobby. Not what we expected from a Four Seasons at all.

IMHO Winterlicious should be avoided at all costs in Toronto. Menus are pared down, service is sloppy and food is sub-par. Yes, this is a generalization but it has been our experience more than once. We now don't do winter or summer "licious" at all.

I agree but I really did have much higher expectations of Daisho than what was delivered. I think that, on the whole, you get a better dining experience from the smaller restaurants in Toronto such as Ursa, Woodlot, etc and the ever wonderful Franks Kitchen. The BIG restaurants just don't cut it as much as they used to (except for the Scaramouches and Splendidos who have service and food down to a fine art.

Interesting to note that Ursa is rarely on these boards and its a terrific restaurant. Fairly casual but the food is outstanding. Pangea is also up there with the Splendidos and Scaramouches.

Splendidly for sure. Cafe Boulud is underwhelming at best. Splendido never fails to deliver.

momofuku toronto

Momofuku Daisho - not impressed. Part of four, arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 reservation to be told that even though our table was ready they would not seat us until 7:30. They suggested we wait at the bar one floor down and by the time we got there and ordered our drinks they came down and got us and put us at the table that was empty when we arrived at 7:20! Then our drinks from downstairs came up just as we were ordering. Appetizers came within five minutes and before we had finished the oysters and kimchi the 10 plates we ordered started coming and it's only 8pm! What happened to a bit of pacing between plates? Food was good but not outstanding and certainly not worth being shunted between floors for the sake of ten minutes and then rushed through dinner. Not impressed and won't be returning which is a shame because we love Momofuku NY.

30 days is standard. We are traveling to Chicago and do not usually book city trips 6 months in advance. Having just attempted to book at The Aviary for drinks and being told by return email that if we are selected they will let us know at 3:15 same day it all sounds a bit too self important to me. Nobody is "punishing" Chef Izard but from this board it appears that the frenzy created by the long wait times increases some diner's expectations beyond what is coming out of the kitchen

Stephanie Izard is not Feran Adria - you've got to be kidding - we've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and never called 6 months ahead. 30 days or 31 days is certainly do-able but this is too much. Diners should take a stand against this sort of silliness and refuse to eat there.
