Anyone have any comments on BJ's Brewhouse and Restaurant

To Vegas and back.
Did not get to do half the things we wanted to do.
Triple 777 at Main St. was very good both food and beer.
Barley's was not what I expected but the beer was excellent except for their version of Blue Moon. Anybody who thinks their beer needs an orange shouldn't be drinking beer.
Ellis Island is Ellis Island. What can I say? Steak special was surprisingly good. Not the best cut of meat but very tastey. Their beers are exceptable.
Boulder Dam Brewery was very good. It is nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sun while pounding down some brews. Beers are very good. Service was great and food was good.
Sin City had a seasonal which I found to be right up my alley.
BLT at the Mirage - $7 for a draft and the burgers sucked. For $48 could have eaten at In-and Out four times and better burgers.
Aces and Ales - major dive.
Rock and Rita's Circus Circus - another dive with a crowd of idiots that like to listen to electronic noises and think it somehow resembles music. If both of theses places were half as nice as their websites they might have something.
Live and learn.
Again, thanks for the inputs.

Three Nights. I hate gambling so I want to eat!

Looking for some down home cooking that is very reasonable? Nothing fancy but worth the trip. Just around the corner from you at The Orleans. Big Al's Oyster Bar, believe it or not. Check out the menu at their website. You might be surprised. Enjoy.

Yo GourmetWednesday
The closest BJ's to where I live is 3 hours away in Columbus. My original post is 3 days beer and 1 day wine. Food is a secondary concern. If you know of any other better options please let me know. I'm looking to try anyone who makes their own beer , good or not so. People have different tastes. What's good to one may not be to the other. I tried Lager Heads BBQ and Brewery Fri. in Medina OH . Reviews are fantastic. I thought the place really sucked big time. Just goes to show difference in opinions. Do you have any Vegas spots you like?

Thanks peeps
Our flight gets in at 11 on Saturday so Ellis is on the list for the steak special. Going to be staying at South Point, Suncoast and The Orleans. Have a car and fairly familiar with Vegas so 32 Degrees will be right down the road. Will also be close to two BJ's locations and Gordon Biersch. Doing the Dam and heading up Boulder Hwy and ending at Downtown. That's the reason for the Dam Brewery, Barley's and Chicago. The following day we will be Downtown again so doing lunch at Triple 777.
I'll do my homework on all your suggestions and find their locations. I picked up on Khoury's thru the last wine posting. I must say I like to brew my own and I'm partial to dark and malty brews. Bottled beer I can get anywhere so I prefer "on tap." 90% of all beers are soo much better from the tap IF FRESH.
Thanks again and keep them commin.....

Wine in Vegas [moved from Wine board]

Follow up on second part if you have time.
The "M" casino has a wine bar called the Hostile Grape. You can sample close to 200 wines. Live entertainment on Saturdays. 5-6 miles south on the strip. Also the Wine Cellar at the Rio. Nice place. Hope you find time.

Will be in Vegas in two weeks. Anyone have any comments on BJ's Brewhouse and Restaurant? While we are at it - how about 32 Degrees at the "M" or Gordon Biersch ? Planning on the Triple 777, Ellis Island, Barley's, Boulder Dam Brewing and Chicago Brewing. Three days of beer and one day of wine.
Any others???
Thanks

i'm probably too late for your trip but i just had to respond anyway. i too am a riesling freak. where else can you find a middle of the road wine but still both dry and sweet aspects also? last time in vegas we ate at the Primarily Prime Rib at the Spouth Point. we were recommended a 2009 Leonard Kreusch Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling Spatlese Mosel which turned out to be excellent. since then we have tried numerous other Leonard Kreusch varieties and have loved all of them. very reasonably priced for the quality. enjoy!

Good eats near North End of the Strip?

superangela
you will be in walking distance of The Peppermill Rest/Lounge. they have a huge menu and you can't go wrong. this place is old,old school. check out this link which will show pix and you can also view their menu. great atmosphere and reasonable. go hungry and go after dark if possible.
http://usmenuguide.com/peppermill.html this is one place we make a point of visiting every time we are in Vegas.

Prime Rib on the strip?

toniad - head south and turn right at NY NY about 1/4 mile west is The Orleans. too far for you to walk but a short cab ride. Prime Rib Loft is one of those hidden "secrets." upstair looking out over the casino serve great prime rib. stick with the prime rib the rest of the menu is ok but not their specialty. cheap but very good. atmosphere is great.
other option is South Point - Primarily Prime Rib - about four miles south of Mandalay Bay, on the strip. used to be a Boyd Gaming so it is very similiar to Suncoast and Orleans as far as food goes. i would rate this place NO. 1 in my book. cajun style is fantastic and a must!!! worth the cab fare. take the extra time and visit The "M" just a little farther south. nice place.
going next month and doing both PPR and PRL. always do. have fun.
stick with Boyd Gaming places for breakfasts $6.99 for your basic morning foods.

Carve - Mixed Review

THE best prime rib is at Primarily Prime Rib located at the South Point Casino. Cajun style is fantastic. Atmosphere is great as well as service. Very reasonable prices. Second goes to Prime Rib Loft at The Orleans ( used to be no. 1 ). Don't go there and order chicken. It's a prime rib joint. Going to vegas in April and both are on the list. Both serve Atomic Horse Radish which is fantastic.

Hugo' Cellar and/or The Flame

Looks like my replies are a little on the skimpy side. Well Eric I appreciate your story. Thank you very much. Realistically I don't think I could go wrong at either place but I was hoping for several stories to persuade me one way or the other.

Here's another one - GOOD DESSERTS

Have a car and money is no object. Love the ice cream desserts at Peppermill. Anybody have any suggestions on fabulous dessert places. Real Bananas Foster and such????? Willing to travel in a fifty mile radius of Vegas. (just kidding)

Hugo' Cellar and/or The Flame

Old, Old, Old school eating. My very first fine dinning experience in Las Vegas was at The Flame. That was many a moon ago. I have never been to Hugo's but have often come close. This visit to Downtown we are going to try one or the other. Has anyone had RECENT visits to either and what are your comments please. We are looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere. NOT looking for comparisons to Joel Robuchon or the other mega cost places, just opinions on this level of dinning.
My feeling is you don't have to pay out your nose to have an enjoyable experience. My other philosophy is "Take my money. Just give me what I want". Any constructive reviews would be greatly appreciated. Its boards like this that can pass on the real qualities or down-falls of any restaurants.
Thanks and I'll let you know the outcome, good or bad.

Ice cream parlors in Vegas?

THE best sundaes and ice cream dishes are at the Peppermill but you better be real hungry cause they are huge. Fresh fruit.

Best BBQ in Las Vegas - Is there such a thing?

Usually hit Vegas once or twice a year. I have yet to find any BBQ that I would consider worth telling anyone about. If I had to pick a place to go it would have to be Lucille's over by Green Valley. Spent eight years in Texas so I know what good is. Looking for some truly smoked brisket. NOT some thing that has been boiled and covered with sauce. Help me out people.

BBQ IN VEGAS

it's amazing how one person can have such a good experience while another has such a bad. at this point i think i'll ask for a sample and go from there. dazed and confused!!!
thanks shamu

BBQ IN VEGAS

why thank you scott,
we're staying at south point the first friday we arrive. planned on doing the primarily prime rib at sp. looks like we have some place to try for lunch now. if the food is half as good as it looks we should be pleased and might have to try it again. i'll keep you posted on our results.

NYer going to Vegas, looking for off the beaten path, or reasonably priced

jungirl
you can always tell the quality and the authenticity of the food by looking at the clientel eating at the restaurants and also the people serving the food. ping pang pong at the gold coast is the real stuff. we ate there once but i couldn't get passed the chicken feet even if they had a bbq sauce. definately authentic. looking for some good prime rib at a very reasonable price? try the prime rib loft in the orleans. good price -good food- nice atmoshere.

BBQ IN VEGAS

hey everybody - i'm aware of Salt Lick, Memphis, Lucille's and Famous Dave's. "the big names" i'm lookin for some genuine sliced beef brisket with some tangy sauce. help me out. i want real experiences not suggestions PLEASE. who's the best and why? THANKS!

Cheap, but Hound-worthy, options in Vegas?

you didn't state when you will be there so i hope i'm not too late. i have to agree with johnb about the peppermill. been there an i have to say it's like walking back in time. atmosphere is far-out to say the least. food is excellent and reasonable. across the street from stratosphere and down a little. fairly close to downtown. i HIGHLY recommend traveling a little farther to the ORLEANS. PRIME RIB LOFT is THE place for great prime rib (CAJUN) style. $15-16 a real bargain and fantastic service overlooking the casino. we do it everytime we're in town. let us know where you end up.

new burger joints in vegas

seems to be some new burger joints popping up in vegas. anyone have first hand experience at any of them and recommendations either way? thanks!!!!

Eating In Vegas

cleo - must try places - South Point Primarily Prime Rib cheap but very good
The Orleans Prime Rib Loft also cheap but very good
Venetian Grand Lux reasonable with huge variety
MGM Wolfgang Puck litte more $ but good quality & variety
Mirage Carnegie deli $ but gigantic sandwiches - share

las vegas casual near Wynn

jgail, have a great time. we always go to the Prime Rib Loft at The Orleans. Fantastic food and atmosphere for $30-35 with wine. Cajun style prime rib is the best. South Point which used to be part of Boyd Gaming (same foods) opened Primarily Prime Rib. It has the same excellent food with a little classier atmosphere. It's a little farther out but well worth the trip. I recommend both highly. Both fantastic deals without breaking the bank. Save your money for gambling!!!!

Vegas Mexican and BBQ

Thanks for everybodys input. anybody else - keep em comming. Usually do only half the things i want to do when i get in town. Check with www.lasvegastripreport.com for my comments on what we had time to try. thanks again and anything else worth trying ( no big buck places ) let me know. i don't mind spending money on food but i'm not into squid or rabbit and crap like that. atmosphere is great but it's only worth so much. THANKS AGAIN

Las Vegas 27th Birthday Dinner - 14 people, under $50/pp

Check out the Orleans web site for restaurants. You'll find PRIME RIB LOFT. Most meals around the $20 range. Appetizers extra - plus drinks. Excellent food with great atmosphere. Cheap but very classy joint. Try it. I go every chance I get. Will be there the week before Christmas. Maybe I'll see you.
