Need nice restaurant near LAX
what have you had at Truxton's that you like? I've never enjoyed any meal there. It's close to home and I desperately want it to be better, which is the only reason I've been more than once. We've had slow, indifferent service and mediocre, overpriced food every time.

I'm looking to save the day. We are a group of approx. 30, parents and kids on a team trip. We are staying near O'hare and are looking for a restaurant for dinner this Friday, April 8. ANY suggestions will be appreciated. We are open to almost anything, but cost is a consideration. Kids are age 6-12. We are definitely willing to travel via public transpo.

Where to buy 3-4 feet long campfire Roasting Forks in L.A.?
I'm fairly sure I bought them at Rei. Santa Monica or MB. They are the telescoping kind.
A16, on pico/sepulveda probably has them also.
Staples Center Dining
Inside the arena:
The sandwiches on the premier level are OK, specifically the roast beef. There is also a dessert cart. It will come directly to your suite if you are in one, or there will be a couple stationed near the bars/food
The better option is the "whistle stop" on the main level.
Good hand-carved roast beef dip. They also have a hand -carved turkey sandwich.
There are also giant hotdogs at one location only with interesting toppings.
Other than that, not much to recommend.
LA Live and Vicinity:
Lawry's - again a Carved roast beef sandwich, but very good. Also the best bet for finding a seat at a table close to game time.
Yard House - if you can't get there an hour or more early you will not get a seat, so Beer only
Trader Vics - Great tropical drinks decent appetizers, tough to get seat, not sure about reservations
Flemings - overpriced steak. I went just as they opened and they had not figured out how to deal with the massive "single seating" with everyone wanting to eat quickly and get to the game on time.
Roys - not in LA Live but a decent choice.
The Palm - also not in LA Live, pretty close and you should be able to get a reservation, but expensive.
Last note: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT eat at ESPN Zone
Saturday Birthday Dinner - Chinese please
Need a Chinese Rec for the Grandmother-in-laws birthday this Saturday
Previously, we've taken her to Elite, Triumphal palace(after the pork belly, she wanted a Peking duck) , and since she always wants a duck, we've taken her to Duck House/Lu Din Gee.
Still she wants Spare ribs, Wonton soup, egg rolls . . . and a duck.
Is Genghis Cohen the only option? Paul's kitchen won't do for a birthday.
Any recommendations would be most appreciated. Westside/Hollywood area is fine, We will certainly go to SGV if its worth it, particularly Alhambra with a trip to Fosselmans for dessert
Bacon wrapped dog - where to buy dog and bacon?
Outside the Warehouse shoe store on McConnell in Culver City a guy with a cart was setup.
The kids wanted hot dogs, no bacon. He pulled out a full box of pre-wrapped dogs and removed the offending bacon.
The box said - "Meadow Gold". The bacon was extremely thin, mostly fat. Definitely the least expensive supermarket brand that had been wrapped by the proprietor around the cheapest dogs he could find.

Yes, I completely forgot about that bar. Having eaten the "princess" meal at Ariel's grotto, that bar was a saviour, considering the quality of the food.

Disneyland is not really a "foodie" place. They have huge central kitchens with outdated "buffet" food. That being said - there are options:
2 recs for Ice Cream - There is a little shop next to the lockers on Main Street. They make ice cream sandwiches using fresh cookies. Best dessert value in the park and a small line compared to the busier places across the street. Check out their hours as they close early.
Also - Across from the Riverboat there is a nice place to sit down for ice cream. There is a "country" band called billy hill and the hillbillies that is fun to watch for awhile. Seating can be tough on a hot day, but there is good turnover at the end of each show.
Around the corner from there, across from the Jungle cruise are decent Chicken skewers. One of the few non-fried things to eat.
If you get to California Adventure you can actually have a real drink - either pre-mixed margaritas or Karl Strauss beer on tap. There is also the Mission Tortilla factory that gives you a free fresh tortilla at the end(or a full bag of tortilla's on your birthday), right near the Margarita Stand.
Other than that, there are the usual burgers, pizza, hot dogs. The large outdoor place in Tomorrowland has sandwiches and fresh fruit. I could go on and on since I've spent too many hours there.
Crowd advice - take full advantage of the fast passes - so many people stand in hours long lines for no reason - particularly splash mountain and Thunder Mountain. Remember you can use any pass you get ANYTIME after you are allowed to enter, you don't have to return at the allotted time. You should always get passes when they available and hold them, that way you can avoid some of the long walks back and forth. I never wait in a long line, even on the busiest days.
Those are all the "secrets" I'm giving away.

Best Burger in LA
I scrolled down and kept thinking, "Someone must have mentioned Shula's".
Yes it's in an LAX/century Blvd, hotel, yes the parking seems inconvenient.
But, we have gone to the bar and ordered burgers-to-go several times. The valet let us leave the car right in front. We had a beer while we waited. If you eat at the restaurant, they will validate your parking.

Cornmeal Crust Pizza in Los Angeles Area?
I think it's more than $8 at Bristol. But if you ever had the chance to wander into Vicolo in SF it is not something you soon forget and will pay the price.
I recall that a fresh slice was expensive, around $3 or $4, and this was in 1988.
