new Persian restaurant----Cyrus

Just noticed that it looks like it might be opening soon. It's on Veterans Blvd. near Dorignac's and Fausto's, New Orleans end of Vets.

Anybody know when this place will be opening? I'm really looking forward to getting my Persian fix in Nola instead of having to wait until I'm in a big city like Houston or NYC.

Bar Harbor--- not too pricey but delicious?

I've never been to Bar Harbor but I'm planning on spending 2 nights there next week. I'm looking for lunch and dinner places that won't break the bank. I am looking for a place with great food that has entrees that aren't all over $20. Any suggestions would be great!

One (Affordable) Day in Montreal

Sadly, we will only have one day in Montreal so I want to get the best possible local food experience without breaking the bank. I want stuff I can only get in Montreal, or Quebec. This is really my first time in the area and I have been looking forward to eating there for a while.

Please make suggestions!

Domino's New Pizza

I thought it was still awful.

I wouldn't even compare it to Papa John's, which is still miles ahead.

I say just go for local pizza joints. They taste so much better and even if they cost more, it is worth it. You're supporting local businesses and eating better.

Cheap eats in Portland

Those are all great suggestions, everyone.

I'd also like to add two other places that I have enjoyed.

Jewel of India does a wonderful Indian lunch buffet 4 days of the week for less than $10.

Ricetta's does a very delicious all you can eat pizza buffet every day.

Tu Casa offers heavy, yummy portions at modest prices.

Indian in Portland

Was wondering where everyone goes for good Indian food in Portland. So far I've been to Jewel of India (in South Portland) for the lunch buffet, which is excellent. And also Bombay for dinner (also great).

Cochon ----what to order?

We just came back from supper. We had a nice meal. The fried boudin was my favorite. We also tried the cheeks appetizer as well.

Our entrees were just alright. I wish we just did small plates instead.

The pineapple upside down cake was good, but I've had better. I actually thought the Miss. Mud Pie was much better.

Metairie dining

Concerning Shogun, I think they have the best cooked Japanese food and salads in the city. The also have the best crunchy rolls!

If you want strictly sushi, then you can go somewhere else I guess.

Cochon ----what to order?

Planning on dining with 2 others at Cochon during a weekday lunch but I've heard that one should stick to the appetizers and not the entrees? I wouldn't mind sharing several plates among our group. Recommendations please! For dessert as well.

Metairie dining

As far as I'm concerned the 2 best restaurants in Metairie/Kenner are:

Shogun on Veterans - can't be beat for their fabulous yet affordable lunch specials. they also have a sushi bar and hibachi tables. My favorite Japanese restaurant in the city

Sandro's Trattoria (also on Vets in the TJ Maxx and Tiffin Inn stip mall) - also have lovely lunch specials. My favorite Italian restaurant in the city

Both places are extremely popular during lunch. and dinner as well

Muddy Rudder Restaurant is offering Thanksgiving day meals as well. I think it's less than $20 per person, and this includes dessert. It's located between Freeport and Portland.

One great meal---anywhere between Portland and Salem

Sorry. I meant Portland, ME to Salem, MA!

One great meal---anywhere between Portland and Salem

Will be driving from Portland to Salem this Saturday and would like to have a good meal (not too fancy) somewhere in Salem or the Salem area, basically I don't want to go too far past Salem so it can either be in Salem or in the area on the way to Portland.

Best Burger in Portland

Where can I find it? I've only tried the one at Becky's diner, which was fine. And the one at Silly's, which was just ok. I heard that Caiola's was supposed to be good but have yet to try it.

Salem, MA recommendations

thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm assuming it's going to be hard to find parking on this day? Is it an easy town to just park one place and walk all over?

Salem, MA recommendations

That place looks nice but I think my friend is going to want something more affordable. Any other ideas?

Salem, MA recommendations

Hello all, I'll be going to Salem for Halloween day. I know it's cliche and all, but my friend is looking forward to it, and I've never been. I'd like to get some good food out of it so we're looking to have at least one meal there, maybe even two. Please tell me what's good. Thanks!

Driving from M.I.T. to ~Portland, Maine

If you're a blueberry fan, then come to Portland and have some blueberry pancakes!

I can't get enough of them and eat them at least twice a week.

You could go to Becky's Diner or Kathy and Dave's. Bintliff's is also a good choice. All three are fantastic for breakfast.

First Time in Portland - HELP! Too many amazing choices in your town!!!!

Since you say you're from NYC and want a Portland experience, you should do one of your dinners at Street and Co. Portland has amazingly fresh seafood and Street and Co. is the best for that. So good! Out of all the restaurants on your list, I think this is the type of place you won't be able to get in NYC.

Asian Grocery/Market in Portland area?

I'm looking for an Asian grocery store in Portland. Any tips?

Cheap eats in Portland

Hey guys. I've already been to fabulous places like Caiola's and Street & Co. but I'd like to find more places that are affordable. So far I know of Becky's, Susan's Fish and Chips, and Gilbert's. All types of food are great.

my dinner experience at EAT

I dined at EAT with 3 other people and I had the opportunity to sample several dishes. I had been looking forward to going there for a long while but I was sadly disappointed. Not one of the dishes was anything special really. We started with our waiter's recommendation, the fig and blue cheese torte which was just strange, and not in a good way.

We all had the Caesar salad , which was probably the tastiest of the dishes. I tried the chicken fried steak, which had a unappealing spice to it. The red beans and rice were decent. The gumbo had a nice flavor but it wasn't anything spectacular. The veggie pasta was bland. The crawfish pie was a mess and the macaroni and cheese was boring. I was truly disappointed.

We didn't get a chance to try any of the desserts but they probably were better than the meal.

I don't plan on going back to EAT anytime soon although I'd be curious about their brunch.

One Meal in Knoxville, TN

I'll be stopping over in Knoxville later this month for several hours and will probably only have time for one good meal. I'd like to make it a memorable one. Any ideas on great places that aren't super pricey? I'm not looking for a fancy meal, just a really delicious one. Thanks.

I was first thinking of ribs and BBQ since that's a local thing, but looking around CH it seems that the place to go is Hong Kong House?

I realize it's Restaurant Week when I'll be town. I decided to go ahead and make reservations at the following:

and a trip to Ben's Chili Bowl and Etete, or Old Ebbitt Grill.
