What does Montreal have to offer? June 30 - July 3

Hi Montreal chowhounders

Coming with a group of 4 from New York and SF. Planning some dining options for the trip. Not interested in formal, tasting menu restaurants, looking for quintessential, casual Montreal dining options. Since we are coming from NYC and SF, not interested in ethnic fare, steakhouses that we can find in the states. Price range for dinner is $50 -75pp, brunch/lunch under $25pp. I'm open to revising my plans, these are just rough options. Thanks for all your help!

Saturday 6/30
Lunch - L'Express (looking for French style bistro; other options Lemeac)
Dinner - reservations made at Joe Beef (only day available for trip since closed Sundays/Mondays)

Sunday 7/1
Brunch - Fairmount Bagel or St. Viateur/Schwartzs deli
Dinner - reservations made at Au Pied du Cochon
After dinner plans - Dieu du Ciel

Monday 7/2
Brunch - Le Cartet - location close to Ca Roule Montreal for bike rentals
Lunch - Jean Talon market Atwater market while biking
Dinner - planning to make reservations at Garde Manger
After dinner plans - Le Saint Bock (any other outdoor drinking options?)

Tuesday 7/3
Lunch - Griffintown Cafe

Questions:
Any recommendations for an outdoor terrace restaurant that is also BYOW?
Any recommendations for the best BYOW restaurant?
Any good dining options near the Marriott Chateau Champlain?
Planning to bike around Montreal, any good places to stop along the various biking trails Montreal offers besides Jean Talon market and Atwater market?

THIS COULD BE DISASTEROUS

havana central?

Any recommendations for restaurants/tapas bars around the area. Really really do not want to be stuck in a tourist trap. I appreciate any responses. Thank you

First Timer --Korean BBQ.. suggestions?

gyu kaku is traditionally a japanese bbq spot, not korean

Pho 32 St Marks

they also put the bean sprouts in the soup for you, dont get to add it like other pho places, found the service to be lacking, saw numerous tables looking around for a waiter to order

unpretentious outdoor drinks

the place above la quinta inn is called Me’ Bar, already considered by OP

Dinner Recs, DC or NOVA, under $100

Looking for a nice dinner with the gf, non pretentious, about the food, anything in the DC or NOVA area. Under $100 for the two of us, including wine. Some places I have scouted out:

Proof
Brasserie Beck

Any recs would be greatly appreciated

Puttanesca in HK - any good?

i thought it was good value and clean atmosphere

Kambi Ramen House

service was pretty bad, food took a long time, waitress switched orders, still working out the kinks

noodles were good though

Where Would You Eat After 2 AM In Manhattan?

Yakitori Taisho

Best Korean BBQ in K-town.

well madang sui is my top recommended korean bbq place, just want to make people aware, wasnt basing my entire outlook of the place by its bulgogi

Best Korean BBQ in K-town.

the kalbi at madang sui is great, however the bulgogi and daeji bulgogi were not as impressive

Best Korean Barbecue in Koreatown

Went to Madangsui last week, enjoyed the experience, restaurant was clean, well lit. Did not have to wait, as opposed to the line out the door at kunjip. BBQ was very good, portions were generous with numerous side dishes. Prices were a little more expensive compared to the other korean restaurants but it seems you are paying a small premium for the quality and dining experience of not having to order while standing in line.

New: The Pizza Shop on Ave A

Muzzarella is good, too bad there isnt too much variety day to day, but definitely quality pizza

Union Square

i think you are talking about spice, http://spicenyc.net/university.html
cafe spice is an indian restaurant that does not serve pad thai

Any Sushi buffet or all you can eat in Manhattan?

that minado is now todai

Pinkberry--new coffee flavor

i tried the chocolate flavor also, did not taste good at all, they were giving out free samples over the weekend

12th and University

WOK TO WALK This first American franchise of an Asian food chain that is based in Amsterdam opened yesterday. Customers choose ingredients to be stir-fried: 106 University Place (12th Street), (212) 206-8584.

Best Shabu Shabu

how are the portions? any all you can eat shabu shabu/hot pot options in manhattan? am aware of shanghai tide in flushing

Street Vendors: NOT hot dogs, pretzels or nuts!

Where are you in New York, a vast majority are in midtown, primarily 6th ave in the 40s to 50s street section. Are not as many halal carts downtown since these vendors main clientèle are Manhattan office workers.

Maoz Vegetarian

Maoz is great, although the set up is awful, usually get the salad box with falafel and whole wheat pita on the side, will fill anyone up

Large Group Dinner in/near LES area

Hi Chowhounders

Looking for a large private room for approx 25 people doing a Secret Santa gift exchange. Would prefer something inexpensive with some form of entertainment (karaoke) near the LES, does not have be exclusively in that area. Any cuisine is fine.

Options

Congee Village - Called and said their biggest room was only for 15 people and a minimum of $600 for the room.
Jellado

Anything else?

Thanks for all your help.

Best Korean Barbecue in Koreatown

that combo is like $17-18, definitely a lot of food

Tapas

I would avoid Xunta

The food was on the border of horrible. Spicy potatoes dish consisted of those frozen McCormicks potato pieces with tobasco sauce. White asparagus dish consisted of canned asparagus. Just wanted to leave after seeing those dishes.

Brother Jimmys

Food was ok, ate at the one on 8th ave, service was mediocre as waitress seemed overwhelmed, could barely find her. They have various sauces you can choose from. Nothing special.

Max Brenner fan

i agree max brenner's customer service is poor, waited over 1hour and then they forgot our order, waited another hour for fondue, nothing done by management, only provided excuses
