Kisco Deli To Return To Mount Kisco?

Went to Liebman's in Riverdale Sunday...had a killer Corned Beef sandwich. Even I could not find fault with it. Excellent french fries too...hot dog had been left on the grill too long...I could have sent it back, but it was no big deal. You can take a nice stroll in the neighborhood after. It takes me an extra 10 minutes than going to Epstein's and they have parking in the back. Our waiter remembers us already and is very funny.

Kisco Kosher is Still Open in White Plains

Zeev rarely ever took a vacation...I wish him well...he is a smart guy and we'll see him again. Very few in 2005 could have predicted what would happen to the economy and White Plains.

Yes...just checked today and nothing has changed.

Assuming the economy doesn't really tank (which I think it will), where would be a good place demographically? I'm not too familiar with Norther Westchester.

That "closed" sign has been there for at least 10 days and the phone was disconnected when I tried a few days ago.

If it was a great deli, it would still need an incredible location to succeed in this economy. Epstein's is doing well in Hartsdale and they have one in Yonkers too. Where would you put a new deli? Forget White Plains.

Don't think Wolf's was Kosher...kind of like Carnegie is today. My father Norman worked at 42 Broadway a few times.

He owned a deli on Kings Highway in Brooklyn in the 70s...he also helped open many of the Wolf's Delis.

It is no secret many lawyers and judges like Kosher Deli...Brooklyn had a great deli on Court Street I ate at for many years...Queens had Pastrami King across from the courthouse...there was one near the Bronx courts.

I live in White Plains...I have eaten Kosher Deli food for 40 years. My father was a legend in the business and owned a deli. I consider myself an expert.

Before Kisco opened in WP, I always ate at Epstein's. It was hit or miss at the time. When Kisco opened, we immediately became very steady customers. Hector cut the sandwiches. I would ask him off to the side what was good that day...sometimes he gave me special cuts. Never got a bad sandwich with Hector. When he left, it was a bit dicier, but I could get samples before I ordered. Talking to the owner and seeing the neighborhood dissolve around him, I knew he would have a hard time. Recently, I had been getting sandwiches that were inedible and sending them back. I knew the end was near. I have tried Epstein's a few times lately and must say have not been disappointed yet. Another option, is Liebman's in Riverdale. It is about 25 minutes from White Plains...food is good and it is a very cozy place in a nice area. They have parking in the back. Just don't order club bread with your sandwich.
