Santa Monica Birthday Dinner for 2

tomato tart and the beet salad to start, then the salmon wrapped in a thin slice of potato and the trout. the pinot noir for me and mojito for him were also lovely. skipped dessert because i baked carrot cupcakes at home as a special surprise :)

the bistro menu looked great but the birthday guy is pescatarian and there weren't any options without meat.

In the end, we went to JiRaffe. It was perfect.....great food, service, and ambience.

Thank you all for your input!

What I like most about these suggestions is they all have outdoor seating! Weather (or heatlamp) permitting, that would lovely.

Whist--I prefer going here for brunch.

Wilshire--hadn't considered, I've only been here late night after it turns into a club. I will check this out

Buffalo Club--I've been so ridiculously curious about for quite some time. I'm sure it's beautiful. But for this particular event I wish someone could assure me the food will be great and the service not so rude.

Turns out Capo and Melisse are both closed on Mondays. Forgot that it can be a difficult day to be fabulous.

Villetta is a definite maybe. Italian isn't usually the man's first choice, but i like the look and location, so it's consideration.

I ate at Misfit for lunch on opening day. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and it's a gorgeous space. This might work, too.

Santa Monica Birthday Dinner for 2

Hi everyone,

I'd like to try a new place for dinner on my boyfriend's birthday next Monday. He's a pescatarian, so fish is good, but we're not going to a steak house. Ambience (especially lighting) is important, price isn't too much of a concern. We like southern food (because it's where he's from), french, american, mexican, sushi, tapas, anything adventurous. Extra points for places with a 30s/40s vibe like Angels and Copa 'd Oro.

Some places i'm considering:

JiRaffe
Musha
Melisse

But I have a feeling you guys can tell me something better :)
