Whoopsie, my bad, for both the date & the biz. On a side note, don't people walk anymore, or take cabs??

Fresh sardines

that would be now..like, summer to fall. fish mongers, market basket, WF, etc.. should have some fresh. out at HMart also. aside from some chinese spots you can find them commonly at mediterranean/euro spots..try italian and portuguese. try inman square area like casa portugal, and/or north end, maybe? there are many southern italian dishes, delicious, that call for a variety of ways to prepare sardines, tho I"m not sure who's making them, or if you can even get the meal made properly in boston's north end.

Recent Lowell Discoveries

I have a feeling that Iraqi place has really good coffee. Maybe it's the picture on the splash page, I don't know, but that looks interesting to me, and now I also want coffee. //

Gene's Chinese Flatbread Cafe, Chelmsford

this is great! i read about this guy, been meaning to go out there. so ...bread?? steak and bread?? hmm..wonder if that helps him make a decent living in a place where there may not be so many people interested in the traditional noodles. can't wait to try it out. i hope it works out for him.

Culinary Lavender

yea, go to WF or any place where they specialize in selling spices, like Penzey's in Arlington, or just go to Cardullo's in HVd Sq., or pretty much any good market, as I said WF, or other gourmet shoppes. Where are you located?

Let's talk soft serve

soft serve sucks. it is not real ice cream (why is everyone talking about toscanini's?? which is the best city home made ice cream in boston??) soft serve: it generally is super unsanitary, and it is not made of anything but oil and filler ..possibly some dairy? but if you need to get it (fun road trips, where you pretend you can eat anything and not pay any consequences, ever) it can be fun, and you've got to go whole hog. get a dip, or a twist and/or go nuts with sprinkles, is my suggestion. you're occasionally gonna get some ice crystals i guess? tho i've never had that happen. you're being fed out of a machine, for chris'sake. dairy joy in weston is great. it's over priced, yes, and never get fried clams there, you'll pay something like $30 for a small box of nothin', but it's in the middle of a beautiful stretch of land en route to many new england choice spots, and it's exactly what soft serve is supposed to be, whippy frozen goo that stays in place on a fake cookie wafery cone. just deal. mmm, summer. .. i suggest you get the black raspberry with chocolate dip at dairy joy. louie's in somerville i agree, awesome location, haven't been there in years though, so can't report on the consistency of this product. there's also that DQ on the wayland/framingham line, to get the cherry or butterscotch dip, as mentioned. the cape has some spots too, but generally this is a vermont thing. pretty much every gas station in vermont has a soft serve "CREAMIE" machine, and they're only, like, a $buck up there. so, take a road trip and go north, if you want cheap frozen retro treats.

you could go here:
http://www.sportelloboston.com/ but i just realized they only do lunch and dinner...there is a little shop called 'flour' off of summer street, http://flourbakery.com/
or you could be a brave soul and take an early morning walk down nearby "D" street until you hit W. Broadway, take a left and just venture around in southie until some little coffee shop strikes your fancy..tons of pubs and little coffee shops abound.
