caneles in paris

Thanks so much everyone for the responses! Sadly, we only have 10 days in France, most of which will be spent in Paris. I'll have to save Bordeaux for another trip. Thank you!

caneles in paris

my husband and i are making our first trip to paris and wanted to know if anyone knows where to get good (great?) canele's in paris. my husband has been experimenting with making them since bouley bakery in nyc stopped in the last few months. we would even be interested in finding a place that teaches a class on them (in english).
thanks for reading and in advance for your advice.
also, we are staying in the 15th, but happy to travel wherever the metro and our feet can take us.

Outstanding dinner in Japan recommendation, please

Thanks for your fantastic advice, Peko peko. I am in search of great Japanese food not French, I suppose that I was likening it to my experiences in NY.
Thanks, so much!

Outstanding dinner in Japan recommendation, please

I'll be headng to Japan next month and want to try a fantastic fine dining meal. I've looked at the board to make a choice, but just wanted some more information. Some suggestions have likend a few picks to french standbys in New York ( Le Bernadin, Daniel, so on). So also by comparison (if one can be made) I'm looking for a Corton. Corton has been described better than I could here: http://nymag.com/restaurants/reviews/52161/. But simply stated it is new crop of fine dining, young chef, daring cuisine with french roots, excellent execution, and a bargain at $78 dinner prix fixe menu. Anything like this in in Japan- I'm not limited to Tokyo? Thanks, chowhounds!!!
So, also, if you haven't been to New York's Corton- do yourself a favor and go!!!!

Upper West Side, cool spots and tasty food on a low budget

i really enjoy Lisca- on 93rd and Amsterdam. solid and delicious pasta dishes and great service. i think they are having a weekday special on pastas for $11.
also gennaro's accross the street is great too.

Looking for Casual Restaurant on the Beach for family event...

HI all,
Does anyone know of a restaurant on the beach for a family reunion? We don't want a resort or a hotel on the beach, but a fun restaurant that is actually on the beach - not the other side of the boardwalk, but actually on the beach and sand. Any know if a location in either Virgina, Maryland, or Delaware? Thank so much, Chowhounds.

Elegant, romantic lunch in Manhattan after wedding ceremony?

not sure about what you are exactly looking for- but what about something with an amazing view-outside of manhattan- the river cafe, you can take a water taxi there post vows and enjoy a beautiful view.

Can you suggest a great place to eat in Flatiron/Gramercy - that's moderately priced?

may not be what you are looking for, but i what about shake shack!? i'm always looking for an excuse to go there.

Eating in Vegas, don't want NYC repeats!

Hi all,
Planning a trip to Vegas, and would like to take the family out to one really nice dinner, probably on a Sunday night. We live in the city so I'm looking for something I can't get here. I was thinking about Carnevino (a new Mario Batali steakhouse). Any other suggestions? Thanks so much.
