Road trip eats in Las Vegas

For great cheap eats, try the Badger Cafe just down the road from your hotel, on Trop Ave. It's next door/attached to a divey bar, but the food is terrific. Check out the menu @ www.badgercafe.com

Pismo Beach - Foodie Advice Needed!

Try the Oak Pit near Oceano this time, instead of Mo's. The cottage fried "oak chips" are gread with the tri tip sandwich. And don't forget to stop in to see Bea and Gerald for some "olde tyme handmade chocolates" in Grover Beach.

fried clams in southern New England

Wormwoods, just down the way in Cape Ellis. Huots at Camp Ellis is good, too! (However, you might want to re-post your questiong, Southern Maine is not "Southern New England")

Tuesday Lunch Bangor/Waterville/Augusta

I'll trump that awful news with some wicked good news! Check that Smithfield Ice Cream Place facebook page again, BobW !

Breakfast in Brunswick ME?

Jen's Place is a little hole-in-the-wall near Bowdoin College that serves up a good, hearty breakfast. The Barn Door Cafe in nearby Topsham is also very good.

On Sunday night, Joshua's might fit the bill, the tavern side has a lighter menu with lots of shareable stuff like Chicken Fingers and Pizza, or cups/bowls of hearty seafood chowder. Casual and friendly.

Footlong hot dogs.

Tubby's Ice Cream in Winthrop Maine sells footlongs, you might write and ask them where they get their rolls? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tubbys-Ice-Cream/125322484177432

Tuesday Lunch Bangor/Waterville/Augusta

Heading up in June, Bob, and Fonzo's will be one of our first stops! Can't wait for some Fried Maine Shrimp in a homemade sub roll, with those fresh cut fries on the side. I think that the nearby Smithfield ice Cream place sells North Street Dairy ice Cream, too. I think I'll spring for a hot fudge sundae or an old fashioned "frappe" (pronounced FRAPP for you non-mainiacs!)

Tuesday Lunch Bangor/Waterville/Augusta

I wouldn't be able to drive past Waterville without stopping at the North Street Dairy Cone for their homemade Cookie Dough Ice Cream. Their Grapenut, Fresh Banana, Cherry Vanilla and Peanut Butter ice creams are really good too. Coming from Bangor take the 1st Waterville exit, turn left, go about a half mile (you'll pass McDonalds and Comfort Inn), turn right at the light (Eustis), then left at the bottom of Eustis. Youll see Dairy Cone up ahead on the left across from the municipal swimming pool. It's only about a mile off I-95 and worth the detour!

Pampa's Brazilian looks good, in the Miracle Mile Shops. P.F. Changs has happy hour 7 days a week from 3 to 6pm

Maine - Roadside Pie/Bakery/Produce Stands?

Amy Upham delivers her delicious pies to a few grocers in the midcoast/Camden/Rockport area. We usually get ours at the Thomaston Grocery on Route 1, and they will put one aside for you if you call ahead. The blueberry is terrific and the chocolate cream is great too. I'm not sure if she also has a roadside stand in Cushing.

The Cookies at Dennis Park Bakery

Sounds a bit like the fruit bars and honey bran muffins at Martino's Bakery in Burbank. Sorry, don't have the recipes.

Rec's for Steak house in Portsmouth?

How about BRAZO, the brazilian steakhouse? FOUR and the LIBRARY RESTAURANT are two others to consider.

Favorite ice cream in vicinity of Nashua

Bruesters for the Peanut Butter Buckeye ice Cream, or the Key Lime. Oh, and if the ladies want an adventure, point them to Connolly Brothers Farm, they have an ice cream shack.

Riviera/Sunrise Hospital

Riviera is an easy walk to the Fashion show mall, here's a list of what's there, you can check websites for the individual restaurants for info on happy hour specials etc.

Looking for Merrimack-area dinner suggestions

Nope, not normal at all. You must have grown up in some Bermuda Triangle of Chinese wackiness. Did they serve it with butter, or did you dip it in soy sauce, or what?

Xing Wang Chinese on Milford Road isn't too far from Cinemagic. How about the Black Forest Cafe in Amherst?

Off Strip dining Recomendations

I like the breakfasts at Omelet House on Charleston, and Maple Tree on Spring Valley. If you get down Henderson way, try Layers Bakery for lunch or sweets. For steaks, Via Brasil Argentinian Grill would be fun.

Snoqualmie of Seattle Brand chocolate MUDD ice cream in pints at most Ralphs markets. Trust me. Fosselman's in Alhambra makes a dark chocolate ice cream that's pretty dang dark.

Polynesian style Chinese restaurants

HuKeLau in Chicopee has a website, have you tried hitting the "contact us" button and asking if they'd share their recipe. Wouldn't hurt to try!

Gourmet cupcakes in Vegas?

Retro has been solid for a few years now, great cookies too. They do deliver to the strip for a $20 surcharge, but their cupcakes are about 50c less than everyone elses so if you're ordering a couple dozen, no biggie. Great flavor choices, don't miss the "Pucker Up", the "Brownie Sundae" and the "Coffee and Donuts".

Best Cheeseburger in Portland, Maine

David's, in Monument Square, is a great spot that I've found to be consistently solid for many years. The place has never gotten a lot of love around here, but we have always had terrific food and service there. They do a great burger at lunchtime.

Ice Cream shop making own Ice Cream Base?

When you can get perfectly good chips to put into your cookies, there is no reason to go through the trouble of making your own. Same with ice cream base. You can get perfectly good mix from Straus and if people are saying "I love Scoops but do they make their own base?", well, why do you care, are you not going to love their ice cream anymore just because they don't make the base?

Best Cheeseburger in Portland, Maine

Thanks, but what the heck happened since Oct 26 when you were "not a big burger guy"?
