For me it's a big No for ketchup on Hot Dogs. I don't like the combo.

Have you ever left a Restaurant...

Years ago, I ate out often and it became a silent observation to see how long the wait staff would greet our table and the timing of our dishes. One night my cousin and I decided to eat at this restaurant on 42nd St. In the big Apple. We were seated and noticed how busy the restaurant was. We sat there for twenty mins while the wait staff went all around us, even serving people that came after us. After twenty mins my cousin said "Are you ready to go as we have sat here long enough." So we got up to leave and the Manager noticed that we were leaving and asked what happened and we told him we had waited twenty minutes. He told us to stay and that dinner would be on the house. My cousin said no we had been there long enough. I have to say I was interested in how long it would have been before someone came to us.

I'm a Professional, But Not a Chef. How About You?

I have loved cooking from a child. Most all my relatives could cook so some of that came in my DNA. I do Roast Chicken, most meats, fish, curries, stews, soups and salads very well. Not really a dessert maker. Most of my family and friends say I can cook so I humbly accept the compliments. I wish I had pursued a culinary career. What stopped me was, a hot kitchen makes me sweat. I would be changing my clothes all day.

Just ate lobster for the first time

I enjoy lobster as we have great ones here in Bermuda. Our lobster season is from April - September. For some reason the ladies seem to have an addiction to it and here some of them go weekly somewhere to have it. I eat it now and then but don't have a strong affinity where I have to have it all the time.

My love affair with Watermelon.

As the Summer months approached, I thought of all the wonderful outside activities I would be able to enjoy, Picnics, BBQ's, beach, family gatherings, etc. But my real joy came from all those summer's my aunt would take us on outings to the beach or on a picnic and we would always have Watermelon. I absolutely fell in love with it and enjoy it daily now. Ahhh....what fond memories.
I have experimented with it in all kinds of things, I even put it in coleslaw with mango and pineapple and it got devoured. I am going to try it grilled after watching a recent cooking show-can't wait to see how it comes out.
I have to say that the best drink I have tried using watermelon was at Fatty Crab. It was absolutely fantastic and worth trying if you are on a visit to NYC. It has lime in it as well. Do you enjoy Watermelon as much as I do? Well enjoy you Summer fellow Chowhounds and Happy Eating.

Secure those recipes.

I was here thinking about all the wonderful dishes I have had the pleasure of eating over the years. Both my grandmother's could cook like champs, my aunt was the dessert queen, my mother could transform simple dishes to the sublime, my father cooked all the meals and was amazing (My parents divorced). My regret was that I did not get any recipes from most of them. They all have passed on except my mother and I am making sure to get her recipes. Also I have a cousin whose Spaghetti Sauce is incredible and we are going to sit down and I am getting the recipe.
I encourage you all to secure those recipes you love and not live in regret like me.
Happy Eating to you all.

Have you ever left a Restaurant...

Thanks because everyone in my party knew we were only going there mainly for the desert otherwise we would have gone somewhere else for dinner. Their food was ok.

Have you ever left a Restaurant...

I guess my irritation was that I was the one who suggested this place raving over this dessert. I had been there before when they did serve it. Like I said I have grown up since then and handle things differently now.

Have you ever left a Restaurant...

I did not make a scene nor did I rush the rest of my group. I just sat there sipping on my drink. The rest of the group ate their food and enjoyed themselves. I learned a great lesson that night.

Have you ever left a Restaurant...

Have you ever left a Restaurant when the dish you went there for is unavailable? I went to this eatery in NYC with a party of three. We ordered and something prompted me to ask if they had this specific desert. They told me no and that their sister restaurant only carried it now. I wanted to leave as that is what I went there for. The rest of my party got a bit annoyed at me as I told the wait staff to cancel my order. Yeah I know I overreacted a bit but my palate was set on that desert-it was a signature dish of theirs. I now make it a point to call ahead where I am dining to make sure they have what I want. Has this ever happened to you-the unavailability of a dish that you were looking forward to? I know most would order something else but I was stubborn that evening.

What would be your signature dish?

If you were to enter a cooking contest like Masterchef etc, what would be your signature dish to enter? Mine would be my baked fish with veg.

What makes you sick or react that you love?

I am a hot sauce lover and basically could put it on anything. As I have gotten older my body does not respond to it favorably anymore. I miss it terribly. So is there any food that you love but cannot eat anymore?

Indian/Thai/Vietnamese in New York.

I live in Bermuda where there is hardly any great ethnic cuisines. I am a bit partial to these cuisines but am open to try anything. If you have any other ethnic cuisines to recommend, I surely would try them.

Indian/Thai/Vietnamese in New York.

I do not live in America. I am doing research on Indian/Thai/Vietnamese Restaurants in New York. I am getting mixed reviews from many of the sites/blogs I am reading. Some say bad Indian/Thai/Vietnamese food-overpriced-small portions, etc. So I am coming to the experts (you) to find out your recommendations. I have a few months until I come, so any help would be most appreciated as I prepare for my NYC Food visit. Thanks.

Overdosed on Italian Cuisine

I love food, I mean I really love food and my palate enjoys most cuisines especially Asian, Indian and Caribbean. My problem is that I realized that I was getting so tired of Italian. Now don't get me wrong Italian food is amazing, I mean so amazing that Bon Appetit Magazine devouts a yearly edition to Italy and its cuisine. I have enjoyed great Italian dishes over the years but I thought recently, if I eat one more pasta with sauce and cheese for these crazy prices, I am going to scream. Don't even get me started on the cheese :). I live on an island where most cuisines are not here and what is here is ok to good. Most are not great. When I travel now, the last cuisine or restaurant I would try would be Italian. So I am going to take a break from it and maybe down the road I will try it again. Of course overseas-not here. Happy Eating to you all.
