Best Sandwich in the World

I agree with you on the Reuben..just an amazing sandwich. I also love Tuna Salad on Raisin Bread. As a youth this Muslim restaurant use to make this steak sandwich which comprised of this very tender minute steak, Cheese, lettuce,Tomato and special sauce. It was all cooked and put together on a grill. I have yet to find any sandwich to match this gourmet parade in my mouth. I have traveled the World and found nothing to match it. I also love a nice fresh turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce with a little mayo on white or any bread-My Thanksgiving Sandwich.

I live in Bermuda and we do have a Fish Sandwich which is amazing. I will leave a link to a Foodies experience with it.

What's your favorite hot sauce?

Ahhh...Hot Sauce-a subject dear to my heart and I mean dear to my heart. When I traveled a lot I would pick up all kinds of hot sauces and bring some to work so all could sample and enjoy. I have to laugh when folks say "Oh that is really HOT!!!!" I say "Hot" you don't know what really hot is. Tobasco and Franks are cool but there are so many amazing sauces out there. I travel with some of my fav's now as I know that most regions or restaurants will not have it. When I was a young child I remember my mother using 'Red Devil'-HAHAHA..that stuff is like water with red dye in it and I would not even consider using it now. The world went crazy with Sriracha and in 2009 it was voted ingredient of the year-it is also good but so many others out there to try. I have a friend who makes his own here in Bermuda and it is wonderful and when he has extra he gives me some. I also love Caribbean Hot Sauces-Matouk's being one of them. They make a variety and I love them all. The hottest sauce I have ever experienced is Dave's Insanity. When you get into these insane hot sauces it is all about the heat and not the flavor. I could go on and on with Hot Sauce Stories but my suggestion to you would be to experiment with many until you find one that suits your palate.

Anchovies : Love it or hate it.

I chuckled when I read this as I am a Worcestershire Sauce Junkie. I even started a thread-'My love affair with Worcestershire Sauce'. I remember reading the ingredients when I was much younger and when I saw Anchovies listed I stopped using it for months. Haha. I went back to using it and tried to block out the anchovies.

Anchovies : Love it or hate it.

There are three things that my palate will not tolerate and I have tried over and over and over again to love them but to no avail-trust me I do consider myself a Foodie. They are Lima Beans, Olives and Fishy Fish. To some Anchovies are not very fishy but salty. Well to me they are fishy-and we are not even going to start with Sardines-just the smell of them and I want to hurl.

So when I do have a Caesar Salad it has to be very light on the Anchovy to the point were I can barely taste them.

I Don't Like Cheese - Am I Alone?

It's funny how are palate's are. I like macaroni and cheese and some cheeses on their own BUT I do not like cheese on a burger. I cannot tell you why, just prefer burger cheese-less. When I look at those American food commercials on TV I always comment "Can they do anything without have cheese in it?"

Do you butter bread/rolls/cornbread/others?

Ever since I was a child I hated butter on bread and sandwiches. Back in the day, weddings in Bermuda did not have catering but they had sandwiches. Of course they always had butter on them, so I did not eat them. For some reason my palate just could not stand the taste of hard butter. I am so glad that we have progressed now and most people in the food industry do not put butter on bread.

What is your Favourite Indian Dish?

Years ago there was this amazing restaurant in Bermuda name Bombay Cycle Club. They were my exposure to what amazing Indian Food tasted like. I first experienced Baingan Bharta and Tandoori Lamb Chops there and they are yet to be matched anywhere else I have eaten. I have eaten Indian all over the World but this place had such a high level of good food that it became an addictive staple in my weekly dining. Sadly it closed down, not because of the food...or so I was told.

So what Indian Dishes excite your palate?

Disappointed to hear that you were underwhelmed at Red Rooster. Well that saves me having to make a trip out of Manhattan.

Some Restaurants To Start Charging For Doggie Bags?

Well...These are the signs of the times. Airlines charge for Headsets, Blankets and food. Many are nickel and diming so I am not surprised at this. I remember being in the UK in the 80's getting take out at a Chinese spot. They charged me for the fork and knife and the soy sauce. I was taken back as I had never heard or seen this before. We are being charged for every little thing in this world. Very Sad.

So I am watching Mystery Diner.... - moved from General Chowhounding board

And one of the mystery dining staff poses as a difficult customer. He summons the server and says that he is not happy with his appetizer. When the General Manager comes out there are words and the Manager says "You have eaten 75% of the food and now complaining." (I am paraphrasing here)

After the show finished I thought to myself...How would I have handled that??? Do you offer another choice after most of the food is eaten?

So how should this be handled? Any help from Wait Staff or Management would be most appreciated.

Happy Eating.

Why should I buy tilapia?

Tilapia is basically tasteless and needs to be really seasoned to appeal to the palate.

Anyone else like to see some new innovative cook shows on Food Network?

I sure would. I would even like to see some of the Culinary Masters like Scott Conant have a show and show us his expertise. He sits in 'Chopped' and reigns from on high but I have never seen him cook anything. I believe most of the other judges have had a go. (Sorry off topic) Hey how about a show were no one goes home and you pick a winner at the end? IMO because Food Network has a targeted audience most of any ethnic cooking is shoved and showed at some rediculous time slot. Aarti Party, Big Daddys House and Down Home with the Neelys are all shown very early in the morning on Weekends. While Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri and Giada De Laurentiis flood Prime Time. If I see one more italian styled show I think I am going to scream....Seriously??? Come on people.

My Love Affair With Worcestershire Sauce [moved from Home Cooking]

I remember in my youth the very first time I looked at the ingredients of WS and saw the word Anchovy. Of course this is after I had been using it for a very long time. I hate Anchovy, Sardines and Herrings with a passion and really tried to get a liking for them. All of a sudden it was like the taste of Anchovy magnified by a million. I stopped using WS for about two years. Growing a little older and developing my palate allowed me to once again fall in love with this beloved sauce.

Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?

I am a Food Snob but get dragged here on occasion when I am in America. This place attracts people because of price. It's a cheap outing for a family. I would never stand in line or wait no long period to get in here. Trying to get into the Times Sq place on a weekend is unbelievable. I only get the potato and sausage soup and a salad and never get an entree.

Food Network Star

I love the Next Food Network Star but I don't really take reality shows seriously. Many of these shows are so 'Producer influenced and induced' that you sit there with a catatonic stare. And please don't let America have to be involved in the voting....OMG..It can get scary. I would love to see Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson cook anything. They sit there from Culinary Mount Olympus reigning from on high, I would just love to see them in action...Just once.

Food Network Star, Week 2 (SPOILER)

Some shows have been scripted...I don't think that this one is. Other times contestants are asked to portray a certain character. Remember whimsical, peculiar, eccentric and bizarre behavior and drama keeps you watching.
