what is the fresh seafood (from the tank) there like ? how does it compare to say downtown chinatown places? live in westwood and am thinking whether it's worth the drive there to try it out, when i don't feel like going all the way to SGV

i second the westwood idea. you can eat at TLT. interesting food and good drinks list (for a non fancy restaurant). satisfies all your suggested criteria.

i have to disagree on thai house..... never had the mee krob but things i've had there in my 2 recent visits were average / subpar....(tom kar gai, gai yeung, stuffed chicken wings, "ugly duck", pad thai)

i know it's not hollywood, but nijiya market on sawtelle isn't far

where is the most west-ward place in LA that i can find them? don't wanna drive from westwood to SGV just to get these.
