Chicken Tikka Masala

Looks delicious. I substituted coconut cream for the yoghurt, used no butter, cream or oil and added frozen peas and carrots

Where to get my knives sharpened??

Buy a coarse/fine oblong stone. Start gently with coarse side, flip it over, then, seriously, imagine that you are the knife blade and caress it across the fine side. After a few times you will be an expert.

Where to get my knives sharpened??

For a mere $1500 you can go to Cebu in the Philippines where, on the sidewalks, there are men pedaling away on partial bicycles with knife-sharpening belts. They do a great job while you are being entertained. LOL

Indian Grocery SPICE Stores in Artesia

On Pioneer, on the left and a few blocks north of South street there are several Indian Cash & Carry markets, all of which have extensive spice shelves with almost any spice you require in different sizes. For instance, I wanted black pepper and my local stores in Long Beach were lacking in size and price. I picked a nice looking Rani 5 pound container for $24.95 and a 2 pound bag of Tea India for less than 6 bucks. Also a good variety of British specialties.

Heinz Baked Beans (UK recipe)

Our local Fresh n Easy store in long Beach, ca. has the original from England at $1.79 I bought some made in Canada but found then to be too strong and sweet . After experimenting with different recipes, I found that if you mix a can of the Heinz Canadian beans with a can of Wal-Mart navy beans, including the liquid, it is right on. Give it a bash.

VacuVita Food Saving System

Interesting, but if they are made in China forget it. We should buy American if possible

Have you ever cooked in your fireplace ?

Yes, I remember my mum would do the crumpets with lashings of butter while we all sat around the fire on a cold evening. At the same time we boys heated the horse chestnuts for drying and drilling to make conkers.

Have you ever cooked in your fireplace ?

Russet potatoes are good cooked next to the hot ashes, also chestnuts. While you are sitting there withdraw a hot poker from the fire and lower it into your thick glass of beer for 3 or 4 seconds. Don't laugh...it tastes great.

Do brussels sprouts last forever in the refrigerator like cabbage - how to store?

I trim the stems then dump them in boiling water for 10 seconds, put them in portion sized plastic bags, suck the air out with thine lips and either tie or use tie wraps to seal. put the bags in your freezer...splendid

Where are the smoked kippers?

Well now, guess what !! When I saw your remarks I almost fell out of my chair..thank god for the arms. I had trouble finding those split kippers so when I did find them back east I bought 100 pounds; they arrived today packed in dry ice and they are now in my chest freezer...10 boxes, 10 pounds each box, lovely grub. My mum fed them to us in England and to cook them to my taste I put them (thawed) on foil in the oven at 350deg for 20 min. You are then able to lift the main bone out and attack the flesh.

Korean Chicken Wings

I use MSG liberally in all of my soups and sauces at home and when cooking for large groups. Never had a problem with MSG in all of those years. Yummy

Where can I butcher my own hog?

It is not too difficult. When I was a youngster, about 15 years, my job was to straddle the pig, grasp it's ears while my step-dad whacked it's head with a axe. After a few whacks, the pig succumed and he would butcher it then and there.
