These caramels make a great low priced gift for Christmas. I would love to see other great foods that make good small gifts. Any ideas?

The real issue for me is how does one go to a grocery, if that's where you must buy your corn, and only buy it if it is sweet? A friend taught me this some years ago. Buy one ear, shuck it and eat a bite raw. If it tastes sweet and is good, pick up some more. Otherwise buy the one ear you have alread tried. Noone likes to get home and serve their family loosy corn. That is the only way to tell how much time it took to get from the corn stalk to the table.

At 67 yo I can say that there are foods I have tasted that are so memorable that I will never forget the time, place, etc. One of those was a cheddar I was served in NC when I lived in Charlotte. Now in Dallas. The 90 yo man I knew gave me a tasting of this artisanal cheddar cheese that he had bought while visiting a relative in the foothills of NC. . I am totally unable to describe it but was the most smoothly delicious cheese I have ever eaten. If you can find where I can get more, I would be forever grateful. This was not a bulk made cheese you could get anywhere else.
